Hi guys

So I am new to this game and didn't play the arma mod so this might be a stupid question but.... I was playing the other day and managed to get some decent gear and a couple of guns and ammo, i then suddenly realised 'what should I do now?'. I no longer had any interest in the game, sure I could go do some pvp but that's not going to keep me coming back to the game everyday. So my question is, will this game have side missions like arma, or any other form of objectives other than trying to survive while trying to gear up? If it's a no then what is there to keep me coming back for more once I have geared up?

Wait for new features come in, I think I wont be playing (much) until vehicles are in the game, dayz is not the only thing to do, read a book or smth.

There's whole, free books in the game, lots of them.

Besides that there really isn't anything to do at the moment, unless you want to go for a  walk around Chernarus, on a killing spree, or log onto the experimental  servers to test new features when they release a new patch. I hope you read the disclaimer on the Steam page saying that the main purpose of playing the game at this point is to help the devs test new features on a massive scale. That's kind of the idea behind releasing early access games.

If that doen't interest you, you might want to wait and come back later so you don't get bored of the game already at this point, when it isn't even ready.

Side missions were just a script modifications that server owners did to make there server more fun. (I did it for my overwatch server) They will not add such things to my knowledge, as the game isn't really intended for missions.

In all fairness, there wasn't a lot to "do" in the Mod either.  Ultimately open world games like DayZ and Project Zomboid become a bit of an "I Am Legend" simulator.  That is to say, there is no objective, other than go through your daily routine of collect needed supplies, defend against zombies and the occasional player and sleep.  And because DayZ uses a real time day night cycle, it realistically simulates the boredom of being the last man on Earth.

Make your own fun. Start the zombie olympics, chase rabbits, hunt books, or...and here is a mad idea...try various game mechanics to see if there are any bugs you can find (after all that's what you're supposed to be doing)

Lol thanks guys, yeah I know it's early access my question was poised at when the game is finished. I know there's a lot more features coming so hopefully that will help. Just don't see this game being played for more than a few weeks when it's fully released. Cheers guys

Survive.

I find myself playing it for a long time. Because I like the idea of surviving in such environment. It is fun for some, not so much for others. Depends what kind of person you are.

Run to nearest airfield and play "lets see how many 0/0 pop servers it takes to land one that actually hasn't been hopped/gutted yet."

I'm up to 7 in a row....all looted.

feed the starving, heal the sick, help the helpless?... or, kill them, rob them, poison them? do something positive or negative and STAY ALIVE that is the challenge of Dayz, that's "the mission"

Try talking to other people thats what keeps me in the game. That experience is always different. You may trade gear, help the guy out, end up working together, or he might just kill ya! Who knows? Thats why its fun.

This game doesn't need any other missions than survival. The survival aspect just needs to be even more brutal for the players to notice it being the reason playing.

When im finally all geared up, i usually stalk people... Just follow them around and wait and see what they do... I range them but i dont usually fire... I try to cut them off or ambush them... But on really boring days... Ill jump on a freshly restarted server... Servers with 8 am in game time... Ill go to a mil base and wait for the server hopper to appear, i usually wait between 5-30 mins before a hopper jumps in... I drop a yellow protector case filled with rice and morphine, an ammo box with containing 1 ammo on all the 10 slots to make it look like its full... I drop somewhere where theyll see it, i range it... And i wait. :) ive died twice while im on the process of dropping bait...

True DayZ gangstas use their own backpack as bait B)

for the OP...I think interaction with other players is where the real entertainment is. That is if you can get close enough to interact without being shot in the face
