Remove Zombies until they're fixed.

Cool but I dont think they should remove because PVP would be even worse.   I just want them to fix them.

I want them to remove them.

Fix them

Then put them back in. 

 

I'd rather have no zeds then this poor excuse for a zombie.

It is just asinine to even think this... how people are not just flaming the crap out of this is beyond me.

How can U possibly be seriosly asking to remove zombies from a Zombie Apocalypse Survival game,

that is still in Alpha.

 

I am so very very very confused and am now going to bed early. Hoping the world will make sense to me again tomorrow.

Why in the hell would you do ANYTHING to the zombies other than make them NOT phase through fucking walls. The aggro range is absolutely unnecessary and they ignore all walls. Just remove them until they're coded into the game properly and running into a building doesn't become a surprise death trap.

 

Because you have overlooked a major flaw in your argument and kinda forgotten what alpha testing is about.

 

Dean has made it clear that they can't "fix" things overnight because most of these fixes would be HUGE changes and likely cause lots of different bugs. In order to identify these bugs so they can be fixed they have to introduce changes slowly, bit-by-bit and let players test them out. If you remove zombies from the game whilst they are being heavily modified how would BIS know / solve all of the new bugs from the changes they've made???

 

Anyways, last time I played the experimental didnt have any zombies (don't know if that's still the case) but you could always hide out there for the next 6 months :P

Why remove zombies now?

If zombies had to been removed from the first days (because they were also broken), we would not have had :

 

Config: added anim hooks for zombie feeding(should allow for zombie to deal damage to unconscious players)
Zombies: Six new zombie soldier types
Zombies: Different types of Military zombies now have tougher attack values and improved durability
Zombies: Engine dynamic obstacle checking (zombie, another player)
Zombies: Svetlojarsk zombie spawns added
Animations: Skinning problem with armored zombies that caused the model to warp during some animations
Zombies: Better filter/check of attack hits directly in engine
Zombies: Military zombies made tougher
Zombies: Zombies aims mostly for chest area now when attacking (stops the "helmet of armor" change)
Zombies: Simple respawn mechanic implemented for zombies, pending more robust method

 

...and all this would have been more work to do more time to spend after major zombie bugs fixed.

I find it equally silly that anyone would want zombies removed as I do that anyone would defend the current implementation of them.

You mean the "Yes zombies are currently crappy, but if you know how to deal with them they are no real threat, and we know they will be implemented better in future patches" kind of defense? Because that is the only kind of defense I have seen for them in this thread, and it is also the only logical response to the nonsense that is the OP.

No one is denying they aren't crappy, of course they are and hopefully they will be fixed. But even though they are bugged they are still performing one of their purposes, which is to make it harder for you too loot and "engage" with other people in cities/towns. They are supposed to be a hindrance, a lot of people don't seem to get that.

Remove until fixed. The current state is unbearable since zombies don't care how sneaky you are.

 

Fanboys, please calm down. The problem with the zombies is that they can not be sneaked around, they'll see you from 600 meter range, giving away your position, which really is the most dangerous thing they can do.

 

Also people, zombies will never be a true threat in this game, it will always be other players. Zombies are the background setting.

They are absolutely ridiculous in their current stage. There's nothing worse then being shot at while 3 zombies are forever stuck in an already aggrod spawn cycle behind you, hitting you through walls. I would rather have 50 zombies that are "realistic" (I use this term very loosely) where you can sneak past them, rather than have 3 zombies forever spawning around you that suddenly charge at you through walls no matter the circumstance as long as you are within range.

 

With that being said, in order to get from stage A to stage Z there needs to be those 24 other letter stages, as broken or uncomfortable as they are.

I have yet to be spotted by a zombie from 600 meters away...

As for them being a true threat, they will be hopefully once they are fixed and the desired numbers are reached. Zombies were the background setting in the mod, if they wanted that, they would have just added the zombies from the mod instead of making them from scratch.

Nope, they wouldnt. because the hitting animations and the walking and many other things have been broken in the mod. They wanted more excellence. And they'll keep it a background setting. And even if they'd made the zeds eat more bullets, make them more numerous and upgraded their damage, still that guy in the bushes with the mosin can oneshot you from 800 meters.

 

Well 600 meters might be an extrageration, but certainly it was 400-500, Its tricky with those huge ranges, they run towards you, then stop for some reason and then run at you again after a while. That's why you get the impression of a never ending zombie wave, they come one by one because of that. Also note that when the server is under heavy load, they tend to ingore your presence alltogether or have reduced aggrorange and reduced runningspeed.

 

Also I still want them removed even though I can handle them easily, anyone with a damn fireaxe, splittingaxe, pitchfork etc can handle them with ease, even huge numbers. And when things get really messy we just walk upstairs. Still, our sniper sometimes can not hold his position because of endless zombiewaves coming at him, even though he is not moving.

Haha. Zombies ruining the deathmatch experience. I figured that was the reasoning behind this thread and all those defending OP. And that in my mind is the most important reason not to remove zombies.

 

For anyone truly interested in the technicalities about zombies and walls I refer you to this older thread, which contains some dev input and probable doas of non-wall glitching zombies.

"Zombie apocalypse, Zombie apocalypse, Zombie apocalypse" Hasn't it ever occured to anyone here that the real horror of a zombie apocalypse isn't the zombies, but the way we treat each other? The Walking Dead isn't so good because of Z0MG ZOMBIES! It is because the characters and their stories, how they struggle to overcome their flaws and, human nature.

 

  in DayZ we have precisely that, people being raiders for the sake of fun, raping and pillaging for whatever they couldn't get in normal life, people who try to survive and eke out a living together in harmony with people, and those who believe the only saviors of the wastes are bullets to the head. The zombies are a catlyst for this.

 

As buggy as they are without zombies we wouldn't have the stories we have. In all, the zombies are just a backdrop for the real horror of human nature and how we treat each other, but that is just my 2 cents as an anthropologist.

Deathmatch? Bollocks. In the mod you could sneak around zombies, here you can't. You can't use your skill/efford to avoid them. That's the problem

By your rationale, how the fuck can a game focused on zombies have such laughably broken zombies that ghost through walls consistently for over 2 years and after 30 million dollars in revenue?    Are you sure you want to point out the games focus is on zombies?  In that case, Bohemia and Dean should get the fuck out of the gaming business.

Although, the guy who does spray cans doesn't do the actual coding that is involved with zeds/zombies. In otherwords, getting dat Art/Animator guy to do coding won't help at all.

That would be fine if zombies didnt ghost through walls or sawn unrealisticly destroying the immersion.     Why not have zombies spawn from inanimated bodies, and have to use the physics of our characters........ And they can all go after our gunshots all day.

I am new to game and can take on 5-10 zombies at the same time without getting hit. Whats the big deal? literally just side step the entire time and they run around like hellen keller

You are awesome and hilarious. Why didn't CBS give you Letterman's job? Way to burn a dumb, deaf, and blind chick! Easy target like zombies.

how is zombies walking through walls really that significant? They're a bit of a hassle in a barracks, but aside from that, just man the fuck up.
