Mythical tower/crashed plane near NE airfield?

A while ago a friend and I stumbled across an area we hadn't seen before while heading toward the NE air field from Devils Castle. It was a downed plane with military tents around it and military crates strewn about. You could go into the plane from the rear and the crates didn't have much in them. I did find an m203 and some ammo. There was also a very tall industrial looking tower with various loot piles on it. Also there was what looked like a crumbled castle tower nearby that looked out of place.

Yesterday we decided to go there again and we couldn't find it. Also, we couldn't find any mention of it on the forums. I then loaded up AO and flew around the area in a helicopter and couldn't find it.

Has anyone else seen this mythical place or did we both hallucinate it?

Can buildings be spawned in by script kiddies? We didn't think it was spawned in since it had loot piles. I wish I had taken a screen cap of it but niether of us thought to do so.

Been hanging around NE recently, and never seen anything remotely fitting your description.

Possibly a rare, random spawn snuck into the code for shits and giggles, but I'm gonna call a fib on this one until we can see some photos.

The reason we didn't take pictures was because we had never been to the NE airfield and we though this was the airfield.

Up in the NE there are those large rocks in the woods, we followed them from the coast and it lead allmost right to it, we saw the tower up above the trees and followed to it.

I guess it'll just be one of the many unexplainable things I've encountered in dayz.

I've just done an extensive fly over in editor mode and found nothing. The only point of interest near the rocks that could be described as the rocks "leading" to it is the hill on which the Manhattan base sits in the vanilla campaign.

Obviously the Manhattan base is absent in editor mode. If it really was there, it's part of the DayZ mod, currently there's no way to view the DayZ map in single player, even then a lot of it is randomly generated and constantly changing.

Perhaps its a rare "secret" spawn, you can place crashed C130 cargo planes in hte editor, maybe this was one.

these aren't the base we saw but the c130 wreck is the model we saw only it had military cammo netting tents all around it and a huge tower close by.

Maybe it was a test run by the 1337 server h4x0rz. Prepare for a new wave of annoying hijinks. Forget about barbed wire,they'll start blocking building entrances with AIRPLANES.

Probably shenanigans, but an important note:

The things the guy describe are not a part of the base Chernarus map that Dayz is based on. In other words, flying around the area or checking it out in the editor would not find the alleged camp. Same goes for the military camp at Stary Sobor for instance (fly there in the editor to see what I mean... it's an empty field in 'normal' Chernarus).

These things are created in the editor by placing objects. There are C130 crash models that you can put down, and obviously plenty of different types of military tents. There are a few different tower types as well that you can add. I can go into the editor and in maybe 10 minutes create a pretty convincing military camp surrounding a crashed C130... but I've also had a relatively large amount of experience with the editor.

I seriously doubt that it was hacked in, that's just not the kind of thing a hacker would be able to add to the game (and if they could, it would look very obviously hacked... to add a crashed airplane model to the map requires quite a bit of placement and adjustment work to make sure it doesn't do any crazy clipping through trees/bushes/ground etc).

So either a) the poster is lying about it (lack of screencap corroporates this assessment) or b) it was some insanely low chance spawn that nobody has ever seen before that is buried somewhere in the dayz code.

My money is on A.

On one of my journeys, deep through the ancient forest in the northern part of the map, I've met an old hermit.

He told me that, one dark chernarusnight, he witnessed a plane crashing. He said it had military markings.

When it came over, it lit up the sky as if it was daytime. He told me he saw the big fireball in the distance, east / southeast of the NW airfield, when it finally crashed.

Back then, I thought the old man was crazy, or maybe drunk on cheap vodka. But after reading this story...I'm not so sure anymore...

It is super easy to spawn objects in very precise places on the map from within the game. This could very easily have been done by someone using a debug menu. I have no idea why anyone would do it, however.

It's not so hard to spawn in camps and whatnot using scripts. Hackers can execute any kind of code. So the spawned camp the OP witnessed was probably placed there by hackers. Probably by someone who felt like playing god.

Exactly. I'm not sure what tools hackers use, but theoretically, you could get some kind of 3D editor or a generator to work, allowing you to do complex stuff quite easily. If someone creates it for them, script kiddies could do it too.

I remember seeing one of these a while back, with the whole sky lit up in flames as you would travel towards it, it crashed into the coast. I also remember watching destiny's stream, and he stumbled upon one too.

If this isn't a rare spawn, WHY THE HELL ISN'T IT!? Seriously, we need more stuff like this. I've always wondered why we don't find convoys wrecked on the roads, crashed planes and abandoned tent cities in the woods.

Upon closer investigation, I have finally found such a thing.

Granted, there was no tower, but there was a crashed plane. It was not near the NEAF, but it was closer to a large field near Petrovka, and it held much loot.

More loot than any helicopter I have seen, and more loot than any airfield. around the plane I had found an abundance of military-grade ammunition, and even a pair of NVGs.

Also, I totally found an AS50.

Probably better ways to do it, but that would work. I'm nowhere near an expert on scripting.
