a zombie runs up from behind (this was on 3pp)

(edit: yes i was full health, the zed i just killed hit me once, i was "healthy" and all green status, only bleeding for 5 seconds)

 

and swings once, downwards in my direction

 

instant.

you are dead.

only expeienced an insta-death like that from being shot in the face point blank.

 

what the hell happened?

did that extra damage thats supposed to hit my chest, hit my unprotected head and cause a headshot kill?

 

i had just found an anti stab vest, as the final kick in the balls

My friend said he was one-hit killed by a zombie while he had a decent amount of blood. I thought he was just making excuses for dying, hahaha.

 

He did not have a stab proof vest by the way, I don't think that's related.

hrm I wonder if this is what happened to me the other day - I was dancing with a zed using my fire axe and couldn't get a hit to save my life (yeah I really said that) when the zed finally got a hit on me I was instantly dead. of course I was in cherno so it could have been a sniper...

Could well be, as zeds now aim for the torso, that while kneeling they are actually hitting our heads and it could be a hit to the head is currently like a firearm head-shot (not on purpose of course, but due to the damage the devs intend a zed to cause with a torso hit being auto-magnified with a 'head-shot modifier'?)

i was wearing a blue check shirt, a badly damaged wool cap (the new one) and anti stab vest with ttsko pants and taloon backpack.

this just happened. all clothes prestine but the stab vest which was damaged and the cap which was badly damaged

Yeah, I'm thinking that it might be a "headshot" bug too. Definitely needs to be looked into!

i thought maybe, but i was in a building doorway, half in, with no clear distance behind me (and the last person had just left the server (it was low pop about 6 and then whittled down to just me when i checked just before i was killed) maybe the doorway has something to do with this.

my animations have "collided" with zombies before and especially indoors or near objects

Yes. Whilst kneeling down you give your head away, especially when unprotected. I am not 100% sure about the SA damagemodel, but that's how it works with the mod anyway.

never experienced this before. not that a zombie couldn't do dmg to my head, but enough damage to my head to flat out destroy my brain!

i've been deebo'd by zombies in the mod, broken leg-one shotted, knocked out.. but never killed.

Well with the recent change that a zed "aims mostly for chest area now when attacking" if zeds target/attack at a given height/elevation and not at a particular area of a player while kneeling our head could be at the height where our chest would normally be.

While crouching you also will be more likely to be shot in the head by a player, it is better to stand becouse more chances that you;ll get shot in the chest or legs and not headshot.

Zombie damage is beyond logic. I've had 2 zombies bashing my head like a punch bag,  while crouched and completely naked for 2 minutes before I died. I've also had a zombie do the tiger jump attack and ruin my pristine pants with everything inside in just one shot.

I was once oneshot by a zombie for no apparent reason as well. Has not happened since. It was shortly after logout timer had been created, and happened just after I logged back in from a break. Running through a field, wack, you are dead.

This one punch death happened to me also. I was fully geared (also full healt/blood) except headwear. I was running with the axe(when got punched by one zombie) so my head was in a lower position. maybe that was the problem.....
