What's in the gamefiles? LMGs ?

It would be pretty cool if you had to find individual belt links for LMG ammo. Grab all the 5.56 you want but if you don't have links they aren't too effective. Make any ammo feeder boxes super rare. Obviously recovering links would be awesome. But probably too hard to implement in the engine.

I don't get why people think LMGs are somehow mindblowingly incompatible with DayZ. What gives?

This is what I was thinking as well. I'm not for or against having LMGs in game. I do think that if they are put in they will be pretty rare and firing it will put a massive target on your head(not literally of course...), but everyone and their brother will be looking for you if they hear it.

 

Also... Lol @ all the "M249 is not really accurate"  comments.

Anyways, yes. 

Also the nade-launcher is in the gamefiles (since the start of DayZ SA ), but it won't make it into the game likely, according to Chris T.

I'd love to see the MG4, though. M249 is american, AFAIK?

German lmg would it better then xD

But first, weapons should be taken from Russia/Eastern states, ofc.

Im not against LMG's but id rather have an eastern bloc "feel" one.

 

ZB vz. 26 (still in use??)

 

or perhaps more fittingly the 

 

Uk vz. 59

 

As well as the std Arma Russian variants. Id also favour the German LMG's (MG4?)

Well they stripped the engine, but theres no reason to remove something you might use later on :)

I know its a hell of alot easier to modify code, then to write it from scratch, so BI has most likely kept what could be usefull down the road, in the game.

 

They did the exact same thing when they made Arma III, it had tons of left over from Arma II in the alpha and beta stage, which got removed right before release, so im just assuming they are doing the same here, although i could be totally wrong :D

You shouldn't be able to. Try putting a normal sewing needle through thick ass leather. You'll need a hammer.

Hunting scope appears to be a fixed 12x power scope question now is if its gonna be a mildot scope that can be used to range targets or just another lame duplex scope.

 

PKM + m249 = im a happy camper

 

ONLY if they allow you to deploy the weapon like in ACE.

You always get fuzz about a "big" gun. In the mod you'd have people dropping say an M14 whenever they found a .50 cal. If I got a penny for each one of those that was helpless with his big ass artillery piece vs an M4....

 

These weapons are not 'personal' weapons like an assault rifle. They serve a specific purpose and when used outside that role you will find a crapload of drawbacks to them.

 

I'd like to have LMG's in though. Perfect to bring along when you and your mates are setting up an ambush. Especially versus fast moving targets such as vehicles.

Naw they might eventually put it in. To be honest id be carrying one around but it would depend on how easy it is to find ammo for it.

 

You can use AR15 mags in the 249.

The inclusion of LMGS makes one wonder.

 

Will ammo quantities be made available like they are in real life.

 

Surplus 5.56 ,7.62x39 , 5.45x39 and 7.62x54 r are all available in large quantities.

Perhaps they could include 2 types of ammo into the game.

 

Surplus military ammo = slightly less accurate than civilian ammo but when found comes in  huge quantities good for supplying a group of survivors or bandits with ammo and stockpiling at a base.

 

Civilian match hunting ammo = Available in your standard box sizes, 20 rounds per box or rifle ammo extremely accurate, does slightly more damage due to hollow point.

Which would transform it into a glorified M4. I'd suspect, if they do include LMGs, that the belts of ammo will be suitably rare, or will require the player to find links to create them from loose ammo.

I just think weapons should be more accurate in general and ammo should be much rarer overall.

Those recoils are just leftover bits from ARMA. It does not point to the inclusion of those weapons, it is not a sign or hint they will include them.

No need.

At most just add drum magazine for AKM and M4 (currently it's already a fact with the weird double magazine 2x30), and that will do the job.

I'd be kinda surprised if we didn't see a PKM or something in the future, I figure we've got 4 Military bases in the region someone MUST have been using an LMG or MMG prior to SHTF.

Well, we should still have to reload (shorter animation) when ending the first 30 magazine. Instead of that the couple magazines act as one 60 mag
