i find it sometimes takes neaerly 30 minutes just to get to where anything has spawned. weather or not its anything useful is another mater all together. ive gone hours having weapons and ammo that doesnt match, or i need a magazine. now thats my experiance, and youres may differ, but thats the first issue in this.

 

A.) ive played video games long enough to know that im going to get killed in them. even games where i was the best person in the room. it stinks the most when theres a bit of lag going on, as you can end up shooting someone and thinking you hit them 20 times in the face and they still didnt go down, or they keep teleporting around. its normal to want to say that some one was hacking in that.

 

 

B.) ive not once logged into the game with the intent to find and kill another player. or even rob them. i hold onto usefull items that i dont think ill need incase i run accross someone whos willing to trade, or even simply to give to someone in need. that being said, when i get unloadded on and someone picks though the ruined bits of gore, i take offense. i would have given them what they needed, and now no one gets anything.

 

KOS only does one thing in the game. remove a possible danger. because you can ruin all of the stuff the other player had, you reduce your possible gain. the goal of the game isnt kills, its surviving. there is no reward for ending someone elses survival. im not saying killing other players doesnt belong in the game, but you have other options, you can take a players items without killing them. if you disagree lets remove the F3 function and use it for something else.

 

 

C.) unless you REALLY need a flashlight or a Tshirt for rags to bandage yourself, this is only serving to upset people. the problem with alot of video gamers is they dont realize someone else is playing that other entity, and everyone "should" be trying to have fun. again, killing me is fine, but PLEASE, dont make my death be something as meaninglyless as "felt like it".

Maybe some people don't care about getting shot at all, maybe they just don't like to step in the KOS/ server-hopping circle jerk.

People stated multiple times in every thread that no one actually gives a rats ass about getting killed but it's the overall mentality on server that seems to piss people off.

There is a difference between gearing up like everyone else and then play whatever gamestyle fits you best and farm-hop servers and go on a killingspree because you don't have anything to do, even better to play near the coast, because more fun shooting unarmed players.

I could'nt care less about getting killed, most times I didn't even have a backpack nor any equipment, but it gets tiresome.

It gets tiresome, to get hold up - as a fresh spawn - by a group of 4 dudes in full military gear playing with you like a cat is playing with mice "follow our orders and nothing will happen, we just wanna rob you", the mocking you, calling you a [insert random insult here] and shooting you anyways.

It's tiresome to try to avoid any contact because you know stuff wont end well anyways, and believe it or not: it's not thrilling at all, no paranoia anymore...because I know that every damn encounter with another player will end up with him starting opening fire on me. Everything is way too predictable.

The argument that this is an FPS is valid, but it's a survival horror game as well...and server-hopping to farm endgame gear to go on a killing spree on the coast has nothing to do with either FPS or survival horror, it's just easy mode, acting tough and getting fun out of harassing people who has a real intention to actually play the game.

To me, server hoppers are no better than cheaters, as they use unfair ways to get themselves an advantage over other players for their own personal entertainment.

Rolling to the side out of the view of the window i assumed it came through quick bandage draw the b95 return to crouch and scan . Straight away there he is 5 m from the window blasting full auto at me but cant hit due to the ledge and his angle if he had moved closer id be dead most likely but no keep blasting away with me calling out ya that good aye mate.

 

Suddenly the click click reload sound i stand and deliver 2 shots to the chest down he goes still standing infron of the window even while reloading...

 

I go out to check his body and what do i get him screaming in direct you KOS piece of shit!! i muted direct not knowing which person he was, took what little had not been destroyed and moved off thinking what drugs was he on...

the psychology in this game, is what makes it so special.

 

tbh, idk a single full geared person dance a jig after gettin shot down but like 80% overacting in their role - sometimes pretty funny, i enjoy that uberraging :)

so if you get shot down indifferent what situation u where at, DON'T RAGE, chill down - especially DON'T RAGE thru VOIP, this actin do the attackers heart reallllllly good.

Again: no one actually is crying-

Avoiding any kind of discussion by just saying the other person would "cry", would be "butthurt" or whatever creative attributes and names some poeple come up with is just trying to step away from a productive discussion. (I guess acting tough ingame AND on the internets is even more fun).

 

This discussion is not about playingstyles or KoS in any way, it's about people going the easy way, not "playing" the game in the first place and then go on a killspree preferably on unarmed players. Because with a lot of people running around like that, they actually force that kind of misbehaviour on other people.

I wonder how many people who actually wanted to play a survival-horror-mmo-fps either quit the game or developed a "fuck all"-mentality themselves and turned into server-hoppers as well, it's a vicious cycle, and that's the problem.

 

Gearing up the normal way might take some hours, and server-hopping or abusing admin-powers to bypass this process is no better than cheating.

One of the fine things about DayZ is that it stirs up so many emotions in people. 

 

One strange thing about the community is that so many keep saying "I'm not emotional. I'm hard and tough and shit, and don't get upset or even remotely affected by dying in-game" even though being an emotionally shut off individual is bordering on psychopathic and not really something one would want to be. Take pride in your human emotions, but also admit to yourself that you sometimes act "in affect". Pressing down that VOIP-button or typing into direct chat while your emotions are still racing is a very human reaction. Some people doesn't let it stop there but rush to the forums to vent their anger and frustration. Later you will have calmed down and might even regret some of the things you said. All in all these are very human reactions, and signs that you're a healthy individual with a normal emotional life. Rather than people not reacting this way it would be sound if those who were exposed to such reactions were mature enough about it to simply dismiss it for what it is. You just killed someone's game character. They're upset, which is normal. Just ignore them, or if you really want to engage in conversation, maybe start of by saying something like "Sorry dude, you startled me" or "Sorry, but I need your stuff".

 

In closing, whenever someone finishes their post with "lol" I never take them seriously. It's a power method and trying to laugh at people who doesn't share your opinion, or making fun of them and belittling them in that way is just really bad form.

A. Maybe you are a hacker so I can't comment on why you get called this.

 

B. Well, truth be told, if you simply shoot someone that is no threat to you, it's nothing less then a sucker punch which is cowardly.  IMO this is actually fair.

 

C. This goes back to B for me, what's the purpose of killing a fresh spawn, unless they are attacking you of course.  Someone spawning fresh on the beach, you have no idea if they just got glitch killed, KoS'd, lost a tough firefight or are a true fresh spawn.  There emotions are high either way and to have someone kill them while they are simply looking for bare essentials is going to push them emotions higher.  I can see where someone would cuss you.

 

So honestly it seems like the responses you get are kind of what you should expect from the average person based on the actions you listed.  I'm not saying it's how I would react, just saying when you look at what you described it's not unreasonable to expect people to react like this.
