What kind of food recipes do you want in DayZ

Recommended Posts

As a young single adult male who lives on his own and regularly cooks his own meals i would like some variety in the available cuisine of DayZ. Surely it would be quite possible for survivors to combine different food ingredient items to prepare various types of dishes.

Maybe we could have wild vegetable growing around the country for harvesting like in skyrim? then crafting that together at a fireplace with meat you hunted makes for a nice feast you can share with friends.

There are cows and lobsters could be added with a fishing mechanic of the game. DUN DUN DUN !!

Hell it would be fun robbing a guy of his fishing basket and cooked lobster.

Eating in DayZ makes me hungry in RL. There's berries about to be added and more food will come out too. There's also a farmers hoe (ok steady on lads I said hoe not ho ok). With the burlap sack for seed storage, we'll have farming simulator 2012 soon! They need to add the tractor from arma though.

You do know that you will still have to eat irl too, right?

I think they should add potato plants and some other nutritional stuff that you would see in a typical backyard garden. Once they get more persistence coding down, have them take time to grow. I can imagine having my crappy little storage hidden out in the woods with a campfire and a few plants for harvesting some nutritional food. Obviously these could be harvested by anyone who happened to pass by, making placement key to preventing someone from raiding your stash. Just an idea there.

I know they've discussed having semi-permanent passives that your character could acquire that are lost on death. Maybe you could get better at planting/harvesting/cooking stuff as you go along.

I think this would be pretty cool, but obviously you wouldn't wanted to focus on it TOO much, as there are far more elements to the game that could be focused on. Maybe make getting there, gathering all the supplies needed, be somewhat of a harder goal for an individual to meet, bringing more people together in an effort to creating sustainable nutrition.

There is opportunity to add more items like individual matchstick that have a 60% chance of lighting a campfire while electric lighters have a 100% chance.

Salt, cooking oil, seasoning, preservatives to keep food in your backpack, frying pans. So many ideas !

I like all these ideas because both solo and with a group, space limitations sort of causes you to kind of select a role. Sure, you've got a mosin with a LR scope, some medical supplies and some decent clothing, but you could also be the self-appointed 'chef' for your group, responsible for keeping the meals coming.

Frying pans are already in the game.

I'm assuming you lot didn't play much of the mod, and therefore don't realise how clunky "cooking" is in the RV engine. The less complex this is left, the better for the playerbase. If you wish to demonstrate your culinary flair to all and sundry, I invite you to get

Please add in BBQ Ribs and perhaps pulled pork to dayz cooking.

That way I can open my Rib Shack in Vybor.. it may be a long drive/walk but its worth it!

At first i wanted to call you crazy, considering the time (and ingredients) required to make a proper pulled pork.  Then you mentioned cornbread.  You, Sir, have my beans.

Cheers,

Jimmy
