How long to gear up?

Personally? Five hours sounds fine for this. If you were including military grade weapons, body armour, and so forth I would have voted 20.

For me it can vary from 15-30 minutes (today, very lucky spawn west of Elektro - found 3 guns: 2x SKS and a Mosin within first 2 buildings - canteen also in first building, food plentiful in a couple of shops on the high street. Somehow managed to jump off the hospital roof through no choice of my own. Grr...) to 4 hours+ if I happen to take the wrong route. Largely luck dependant/varies on server population. I generally join servers at about the 10 player mark and wait for it to fill up. It usually does before too long.

I think the longest it's taken me to gear up (your definition) whilst avoiding death is about 8-10 hours over 2 days. It started with a scramble into the middle of nowhere for food - on the brink of starvation until I found a fresh orange and some rice in a farm house, but by that point I was verging dehydration. Ended up lost inland surrounded by fields upon fields of nothingness, topless and bleeding quite often (most of my shirts had to be turned to rags at some point), a wrench as my only defense... Ended up by the castle (how?!?) and made my way to Grishino from there. By sheer fluke, I might add. From there things improved considerably.

Sorry, off tangent. Average 2-3 hours.

If you are lucky with spawns, 1 hour.  Otherwise, you are most likely going to spend 2-3 hours to get everything you want and need.

For me it works like this:

 

Dude with M4 + 400 ammo + tac vest + gas mask + all the military green shit = just another dude

 

Dude with cowboy hat + aviators + any gun but the M4 + revolver + press vest = FULLY GEARED

 

So, to get FULLY GEARED in my opinion, it takes a lot more times and work than just going to an AF and looting the shit out of it.

I voted 100 hours to throw off the curve and I see others did the same.  I think without server hopping <5 hours for a gun some ammo fully healthy and the extras is good.  Extras being: morphine, leather shoes (sunburst), saw'd off shotty, few good books to read and some sexy head gear / clothing.

I take about 30 minutes before I am fully kitted up.

It should be harder and longer with a random spawn of kit everywhere, not the usual places.

Change the places kit spawns randomly, everyone will have a fair chance then as opposed to teams guarding high loot yields.

If you r smart about your loot route, you can easily be well geared in under two hours on one server without even hitting a military base or airfield

Im not really pressing fully geared. More so geared enough to compete. How long after u die untill u can stabilize food/drink and defend ure self. Not necessarily have every thing u want to collect.

People get geared so fast because they know the way the game works and they know where to look for things. In my opinion, that is not an issue, veteran players should have the knowledge of this stuff, and they should be able to take advantage of it. It's the natural pecking order.

I did not vote.  If you were to spawn on a server that's a bit stale, there's no telling how long it might be.  If you starve to death first then what? Fresh server, relatively lowly populated, < 1hr for the basics (1 firearm, 1 melee, a backpack, some food and a water vessel).  I would like to see the server browser not show any details about how many are playing, how long since last reset or what time of day it is.  Now we're talking...imho of course.

It usually takes me and my clan about 30-45 minutes to get geared up, depending on where you spawn, and what you're going for. We try to get a mix of mid/close range players with M4s, and a couple other guys who can reach out and touch people with Mosins. Then again we know what spawn locations to hit and what's worth taking or not.

Sorry, I misread. If u just mean a basic weapon like an axe and some food then less than an hour. :)

Well, spawned fresh on exp yesterday, north of Solny so:

- Experimental
- No hopping= stick to the first server you entered

- Population between 15 and 30

 

2 hours (would have been one but someone hopped at NEAF (I even saw them logging...grrr...) and there were 4 guys running around in Svetlo, so I had to circle around a bit)

Healthy, backpack (courier^^), axe (traded with a guy I met against some Mosin rounds, only had a fire extinguisher ;)), SKS with around 80 shots (i had bullets for every weapon in the game until I found a gun...) - police stations rock ;), nice outfit (black helmet, combat boots, green hoodie, green cargo pants etc.) and a lot of food+canteen...

That's still way to short of a time.  I'm guessing you didn't even have to worry about food and water?
