krisperr 5 Posted March 1, 2014 I have 4 coupled mags, and about 200 rounds for the sks. A pristine Acog and a prestine PU Scope, but no magpul parts. Would a MP M4A1 be better than an sks? I've been able to hit some pretty far shots with both, but the stock M4 is garbage for my usual playstyle. Even from 30 feet away sometimes none of my shots will hit the center. Other times I'll hit things 100 meters away with one shot so it seems pretty hit or miss. My understanding is that both magpul parts make it 10x better so would that end up being more accurate than the sks?
Grimey Rick 3417 Posted March 1, 2014 MP M4A1 with ACOG > everything. Also, inb4 OMFG THIS THREAD AGAIN?
ChiefMasterKush 321 Posted March 1, 2014 Sounds like you should employ some controlled fire with the M4 as you do at 100+ meters.
oregonized 673 Posted March 1, 2014 I prefer the M4 simply because I can have a larger magazine. Just toggle it to semi-automatic instead of fully-automatic and you are golden. It really depends on your style of engagement. Do you play solo or with a group? Do you clear buildings? Both weapons have positive and negative aspects. mosibfu 71 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) lol it depends where and how you play.. if you want to stay clear of military sites, i wouldnt go with m4, since m4 ammo is found mostly on military sites. sks ammo is plenty, and spread around the world, witch makes it the better survival gun. personally, i like the m4 better then the sks, if you control your bursts, its quite good mid range, and its a beast close range Edited March 1, 2014 by mosibfu
escobert 112 Posted March 1, 2014 I like the M4 but, I prefer not having to worry about military bases for my ammo and gun parts.

comikz 218 Posted March 1, 2014 I would roll with the SKS till you get your hands on the following for the M4A1. 1. Pristine MP Handguard/Buttstock2. Pristine Bipod3. Pristine ACOG (Personal preference, but this site is golden.)4. Pristine Suppressor (Rumor has it this adds a bit of added accuracy.) Until you get atleast the Bipod + MP Buttstock the SKS is around the same performance level, but people tend to scratch their heads when you inform them you can hit things over 200 meters, lol... Nicko2580 398 Posted March 1, 2014 I'll go against the grain and say I prefer the SKS. Accurate out to decent ranges and when fired from the hip. 10 round mag is plenty for DayZ. Anything at <25m I'll be using a sidearm/shotgun anyway. I haven't found this feature to even be working yet1. Go into your keyboard bindings and find the select fire mode feature. 2. Set it to <button of choice>x2 (double press quickly)3. ???4. Profit.

Nicko2580 398 Posted March 1, 2014 again, isn't the default button T? Correct me if I'm wrong or is it not working and we have to rebind it?You have to set it to the x2 setting for it to work. Confirmed this the other day. Default is press T once. Change it to 2x and it will work. When you fire, you also have to hold the mouse button down for a second, I don't think it fires as fast as you can click, for some reason (bugged probably). That is not true. Maybe you just need a new or better keyboard. Edited March 1, 2014 by OR3GONIZ3D
antonioajc 500 Posted March 1, 2014 I changed for the SKS because I was pretty much tired of the M4.
The-MCV- 149 Posted March 1, 2014 I haven't pvped much with the SKS, but the fully pristine MP M4 + ACOG + bipod is one fucked up gun. Used right it gives no chance to your victim at reasonable ranges.
Nicko2580 398 Posted March 1, 2014 That is not true. Maybe you just need a new or better keyboard.I'm sorry but it is true. Semi-auto would not work for me with the default T command. I had to change it to Tx2. If I change it back to T it doesn't work again. As I said, I confirmed it, I'm not dumb. Maybe it works fine for you, but it does not for me and a few other people. Alpha, remember?

It really depends on your style of engagement. Do you play solo or with a group? Do you clear buildings? Both weapons have positive and negative aspects. I do just about everything. I spend most of my time around the airfields and military bases, or the towns near by just because of the fact they're high traffic areas. I KoS, I help people, I rob people, sometimes I'll just chill out and watch them, but nothing beats a good clan firefight. Also I never use full auto, the first thing I do when I get into a game is double tap T.I guess I'll just hold on to my sks until I can find the stock and handguard. I'm sorry but it is true. Using Tx1 worked at first for me so I thought, but now it doesn't work unless I set it to Tx2 Edited March 1, 2014 by Krisper
