Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted March 1, 2014 For arguments sake, why do "you"(as in the 3pp people) choose to play only 3pp? And be honest because it is going to be easy to tell that you are full of shit.
libertine 351 Posted March 1, 2014 I think they should consider changing the name to "advanced". 1st person is lovely. Its so damn nice to look around and know that if you don't see anybody, no one sees you. I actually feel safer most of the time playing in 1st person servers. My own process for scouting the area around a rooftop i was on when i played in 3rd would rarely get me seen and that is just fucking stupid, making for an easy kill and probably making it super frustrating for those who get killed that way, just to see "you are dead" all of a sudden despite having taken a lot of time to scout the area and move slowly and such. I highly recommend 1st. I'm happy to say all of the things i was worried about missing in 1st i never think about having now played it for awhile.
GrappleX 354 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Caboose, you seem reasonable, and I'd be happy to answer your question. For starters, I don't exclusively play on regular servers. I have a hardcore character and play as him occsionally. I can explain why I prefer regular though. 1. I find that looking in first person seems incredibly like tunnel vision. Yes I know you can change your FOV, yet I've never found a setting that appeals to me. Its either way too tunnel visioned and way to much view. Its a personal thing, but it bothers me. 2. I like being able to switch between a casual and hardcore experience. Generally, when I'm playing this game, I want it to be enjoyable. On the same note, I find regular servers to be much more casual, and I care about my character less. I play the game for the game. When I want to seriously care about my character, I'll play hardcore. I enjoy having a choice. 3. I have a quirk where I very much enjoy looking at my character in third person. It shouldn't bother me as much as it does, but I just feel weird not being able to see him while I'm running on hardcore servers. Its an odd quirk, but still, it makes me lean towards regular. 4. My last one isn't necessarily a feature, but rather lack of one. I've never found interactions on hardcore servers to be as good as people say. That's not to say its the same between regular and hardcore, but I haven't seen a huge difference. I've met plenty of cool guys on regular servers and been KOS'ed plenty of times on Hardcore servers. Anyways, long post, just figured I'd throw my opinion out. Edited March 1, 2014 by GrappleX

GrappleX 354 Posted March 1, 2014 Thank you very much sir. I not playing on regular to take my character seriously. I'd rather enjoy the game, and generally screw around. If I want a serious experience, I'd play hardcore. Obviously regular servers aren't for people seriously into the game, and I'd assume that's why they're more popular. Most people would rather have a casual, easy going experience.

Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted March 1, 2014 I like both. Despite the cheap advantages that come with it, I prefer 3PP.

lipemr 160 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Oh sorry, I forgot visual cortex is a fucking square... Face it, there is no way to put a realistic human view experience on a single monitor. Not telling you 3pp is realistic either. I'm telling you to stop bitching and accept this is just a game. Currenly, 1pp ruins my experience because I can't even move my mouse properly because acceleration and see objects because of stupid zoom levels. Let everyone play as they want, either choice won't make you a better player or anything. YEAH, let everyone play as they want!!! allow hacks, aimbots and item spawning in game! there's people that want to play the game like this! worst argument ever. A basic thing that i know about visual cortex is: Your point of view doesnt stand 3 meters behind your head, get over it. WoW players, wow players everywhere. tommes 331 Posted March 1, 2014 No, its hard to ignore shit like this. Saying that I erroneously choose to play on regular servers makes you seem like a holier than thou douche. I guarantee I didn't make an error choosing to play on regular servers. I looked at the server list, saw both hardcore and regular servers, and purposely picked a regular server. All intentional. Again, not everybody on regular servers uses 3pp to look around corners and KOS. Just as i'm sure not everybody who plays hardcore is a condescending dick. But a few bad apples spoil the bunch, isn't that true? You made a bad choice then. An everybody is using 3PP as much as possible.
tommes 331 Posted March 1, 2014 Just because I don't agree and conform to your play style doesn't mean I'm wrong for choosing mine, you fucking neo-Nazi hipster.Wrong might be the wrong word. I'd rather say "a lesser man". ^^
tommes 331 Posted March 1, 2014 I'm just saying bro lead by example and people are bound to follow youWe're talking about a lazy bunch there, ignorant as hell. tommes 331 Posted March 1, 2014 Too bad to, most of the hardcore community seems reasonable enough. They proved by chosing hardcore. ^^
wartzilla 182 Posted March 1, 2014 I play both, but my friends play regular so that's where I spend most of my time. Playing this game solo is like masturbating (and not in a good way).
Highlander007 249 Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Hardcore is scarier, that's for sure. Playing this game solo is like masturbating (and not in a good way). Playing with a bunch of other guys feels like a circle jerk tho, and not in a good way Edited March 1, 2014 by Highlander007
rickyriot 1009 Posted March 1, 2014 "lamecore"? Holy fuck, this community is toxic... Sorry to piss on your cornflakes, but the term lamecore is not specific to DayZ and for me originates over a decade ago when it was used in reference to the early MoH:AA community and the standard/hardcore servers on clanbase. To blow my own trumpet, a ladder that I have topped (with a clan of course) in more than one region.. :D

lipemr 160 Posted March 1, 2014 Playing a multiplayer game alone is depressing in whatever game you try. in dayz it gets even worse due to the fact that you spend 95% of your time ingame walking/looting alone, and when you find someone, you'll probably kill him or he'll kill you. Dusty_ 48 Posted March 1, 2014 It's probably underpopulated because they are seperate hives atm. That's my guess, or people just don't like an even playing field.
Vicco 123 Posted March 1, 2014 Huh? 1PV is "hardcore?" Bullshit. It's just another view. Some folks like 1PV, some prefer 3PV. Bad players probably get killed more often in 3PV because they don't have the patience to learn where others can "spot" them. So they just go on 1PV servers to get killed, and feel better about their inadequacies. Perhaps they feel "immersed" when they die. Whatever the hell that means. I play on 3PV. Come and get me, "hard asses." LOL
rickyriot 1009 Posted March 1, 2014 Good attempt, Vicco, but that little rant just makes you sound like a 10yo CoD camper. You really need to up your game if you are going to get any bites from that sort of bait.
Vicco 123 Posted March 1, 2014 Hardly a rant, ricp. Just the facts. If you care to dispute them, make an attempt.

I don't need to, hardcore players are simply just better people. ^_^ This thread is jam packed with lamecore players desperately trying to justify why they like playing DayZ like Tomb Raider which pretty much sums up their mentality. You can also stalk others, make them your prey. It's the best.Only thing it's a little bit boring too. That's why I'd like to see Side chat open for all players on the server to fuck around Edited March 1, 2014 by Highlander007

Hadn't noticed that. What I see is 1PV puffing themselves up. I won't insult them. Enough to say "come and get me." It's a way for them to prove how hard ass they are. If they want to stay safe on 1PV servers, up to them. That's their main complaint about 3PV, right? Getting shot by better players? Of course they'll call them "exploiters" and run back to 1PV servers. Well, it takes all kinds. Of course it's fine if they stay on 1PV servers to get shot. They can say "It was a fair fight." "Good engagement." And so on. Puff their feathers a bit. Edited March 1, 2014 by Vicco
