Do not read too deep, all creators see their creation as fundamentally flawed (on some level). As an example, just look at J.K. Rowling's thoughts about her book series..

The way I see it, here are our choices:
1. Enjoy what's available.
2. Provide feedback.
3. Patiently await fixes and more content.
4. Move on and play something else.

Dude has spent a lot of time on this concept. He has cashed in for his efforts. He is moving on. Good for him.

Have you seen the new dev blog?  I think the game is still on the right tracks... I'm not worried in the least.

The game is going into a different cycle. It's not at the discovery phase any more. It's not about the same creative energy that it once was.

It now needs to be in the hands of developers and programmes. I think Mr. Hall prefers the clangor of initial discovery and not the plodding of the current cycle.

If they add the stuff that was in the mod with the stuff they added on in SA, and optimize it a bit, Ill be happy with that. Oh yea, anti cheat.

I was quite happy with the mod and thought it was perfect, but the cheaters kept me away.

Probably old enough to be your dad.

Well, my Dad's going to soon be 50 this year, so, yeah.

"I feel like DayZ  is a fundamentally flawed concept," he said, "and I've always recognized that. It's not the perfect game; it's not the multiplayer experience, and it never can be, [with] the absolute spark that I want in it." I don't know why he has said this.. About his own game. It kills me that he won't even finish what he had first started. Since then I just felt like the game is crushed. I have not played it since, fps just keeps getting worst, and the game is not really moving forward, but backwards. I just wish things could be better. Either finish what you started, or you should have not made Day Z. Sorry I just feel like Day Z can't go on without its "Father".

I agree 100% w/ OP, he knew it wouldnt sell unless he had zombies. Now he just wants survival. Kinda boring.

People keep saying this, but not telling us why they think that. Rocket certainly thinks DayZ can go on without him.

The greatest gift I can give the project, and the team, is a longterm vision and culture that would survive long after I am gone. If I have done my job right, I will have forever changed those involved in the project. That is leadership, to grow a team to the point they no longer need you. I'm proud of the people I have worked with. I am proud of what they are accomplishing. And I am proud to say that I can see a day when I am not needed.

1. What does this mean? Are we playing a game that is going nowhere?

2. How can we be assured this is gonna be the game we all backed by buying it early?

3. Will Bohemian take the money and not care anymore?

1. It means that this game, just like every other game ever published, won't be perfect. So no, we're not playing a game that's going nowhere, it's just not going to the perfect place envisioned in Dean Halls head.

2. We can't. And the question is meaningless anyway, what game did we back, exactly? Did anyone say anything about the end result?

3. No, they'll finish the game and make it a quality product. Then, after 6-12 months of patching, they'll make it playable, just like every ARMA game ever.
