That was one comment made in the middle of a four hour interview :)

What I'm referring to there, is that I see DayZ as having elements of the "ultimate multiplayer experience" but I was discussing with the interviewer all the things that I did not think were perfect about DayZ. We were discussing the ways in which I believe the concept - the core design - that I came up with is flawed. There are things the game cannot do because of the way I designed it. These are important lessons that I take heed of.

However, they don't detract from the game at all, and indeed to change these would dramatically change the game and not necessarily for the better (for example: I could just be completely wrong). The DayZ game should head in the direction it is, but any future game I make should take into account what I feel are flaws in my previous design(s).

PLEASE tell me the follow up was "What are those flaws?"

More then some games I have had for over a year. Its already paid for it self. And there is a disclaimer, that you read when you log making people aware that it is vary early in development. 

 

All they need to do is fix some of the really bad bugs, and the game is already pretty good minus all the new content that will be added.

Well after playing dayz sa for 100 hours plus. I saw some things I found alarming. People getting really really upset, mad and sometimes even scared. DayZ maybe to much for some people too handle. There is a youtube video were a girl was screaming so loud while playing her next door nabor called the police on her. That's kind crazy. I almost think there should be a disclaimer "only meant for mature audiences". Then there's all the WOW freak out videos OMG. I thought I was bad for cursing at the screen.

 

If you find your self getting really upset over DayZ or any other games, remember your not the only one. And just take a break from it.

Dude Path Of Exile is  free to play and it has NOTHING you can buy to win with its all vanity stuff you can purchase. Thats an example of a good free to play game.

I think more then likely it will continue to get developed and all the things will be added. That just me though. There's to much riding on it now. Also I think if you paid for alpha you have the game for good, so probably you not have to pay again.

Well i did pay to get in the beta for path of exiles but i got some other shit you cant get through the game now since release. But the game was always meant to be free to play from the get go on there part they just had early access for ppl that wanted to play and test the game before official release.

 

But if you guys want to continue to see solid official content from the publishers rather than mods they have to have the income to make it some how regardless. So its possible one of these models might get set up in the future.

There is no way that you can tell your boss that you're leaving at the end of the year and still have your job in December. They will replace you as soon as humanly possible for being uncommitted, period.

 

As far as I'm concerned, at this rate, the SA will never have half of the features that the many mods already offer. Alpha for 10 weeks, and the only thing in SA today that wasn't there when it came out are an SKS, the B95 and a bunch of flavorful but pretty useless items. This blows my mind as the only difference between DayZ mod and DayZ SA is the engine (ArmA II -> ArmA III.)

 

Anyone knows of any missing content in ArmA III from ArmA II that could not be implemented because of engine issues? So, why could ArmA III go from alpha to release in 26 weeks, and SA is still roughly in day-one state after 10 weeks?

Dean Hall doesn't do PR very well. It is known. That being said a lead designer leaving doesn't impact a project much once it has reached Alpha state. They're more "vision" than "execution" and the vision portion of the game's development is long passed.

I also agree with him that the game is fundamentally flawed. Look at the futile dispute over KoS and PVE only. Even players can't decide what sort of multiplayer game this is.
