Doors With Noise Do You Want It

Recommended Posts

Doors are annoying right now becuase a player can pop em open and there is no audable noise that emits from the opening of the door. I would love to see a noise cue when opening doors so I can lock buildings down without needing a second person to babysit the door.

I believe Rocket said they are currently working on this very thing.. doors that make noise and eventually open when you walk into them rather than needing to use a button

Rocket was asked this during the recent livestream, and he said he wants to looking into redoing the door system altogether. This would most likely be required for the door barricade system and would allow them to do stuff like the doors making sounds.

I think it would be great to have personally :D

in an ideal world I would like an animation for grabbing the door handles, as well as the ability to slowly open one with weapon drawn

Guh, I would hate it if the doors open just by walking into them. That's just a personal thing though, I hate that in most games! :p

Doors definitely need opening and closing noises and as DeatHTaX said, the ability to open them slowly and peek through or lead through weapon first would also be very cool.

At minimum I think there needs to be a 'open slowly' option for the times when you're stealthing, otherwise every door becomes an instant alarm.

I would like an animation for opening doors, but I would rather see it as a automatic thing when you walk into doors. You would have to walk directly into the door to open it, instead of pressing a button. It would activate an animation where your character looks down, grabs the handle, and opens the door and walks through it.

I would like doors with noise and for some to be randomly opened to throw off those who are accustomed to not searching buildings with doors already open.

I dig the barricade idea.  One that works..  It could turn any building into a fortress if enough people are holding it.  Elektro/Cherno/Berezino would play completely differently and this would almost certainly give squads hard targets to attack.

I don't see the problem with pressing a button.  Mousewheel scroll, mousewheel depressed, door opens.  I'm also against anything that hijacks my ability to look around or anything that restricts my movement.  No thanks.

Given the state of many buildings, I doubt doors are as well oiled as they seem to be now. I'd like to have them squeak.

OP: A poll would be an easier way to judge people's preference.

An option to switch between automatic and manual door opening would be a nice addition, maybe a hotkey.

They'll be adding physics and sound to doors. I suppose that'll stop zombies from running through them as well.

Remember how doors were opened in Amnesia?  That would be nifty, especially if we could do it with a weapon in the other hand.

Noisy and locked doors would be awesome.  I doubt an apocalyptic post-soviet state would be the kind of place where most people leave their doors unlocked.

How would you close them?

I'm sure it will come later.

If they put it in now, you'll be hearing doors open every time someone logs in. Imagine sitting upstairs in your favorite camping spot waiting for the sound of the door open downstairs and every minute or so you hear it open, chit your pants, rattle your nerves, go downstairs and find out your door is still closed.

Listen to Hall, audio comes last. Internets it.

They definitely will be added, Rocket has confirmed it in a stream but I dont know the link right now.

Just so everyone knows that may not, if you google "Reddit Dayz" you will find more news and information, the devs seem to lean towards that site.
