I have been playing on this character for a few days, and was looting in a random small town. I was incredibly geared out, ammo/weapons/food/supplies, and all of a sudden-

 

"My pulse feels irregular"

wtf?

"I feel like I am going to pass out"

......

Seriously, this is incredibly stupid. No words can describe my frustration at dying not by a glitch, not by a hacker, but by a god damn heart attack.

 

Anyone else had this happen to them? What am I supposed to do in this situation? Can defibs be used on yourself? Do you really have to carry a defib around at all times to save yourself from this RANDOMLY GENERATED GARBAGE?

What about painkillers?

Seriously, I am mad. 

If it makes you feel any better there is nothing you can do to revive yourself except hope that you were well fed enough to eventually wake up (you will only revive if you are regenerating shock/blood). By the sounds of it you experienced a shock unconsciousness and you certainly will not recover, because you were losing shock when you passed out. Or gaining shock depending on how you look at it. It might not be pleasant to hear but this is your fault for not keeping your character healthy. Unhealthiness manifests itself in many ways. It is not random. You must be well fed and hydrated at all times and address any unhealthy status messages as soon as possible. Everyone eventually learns the hard way not to get too attached to any one character. At least not in alpha. Your initiation is complete. Go with honor. 

 

Edit: It's also possible you suffered from a blood unconsciousness. If you are pushing your character too hard on low blood, he will pass out. Again if you weren't otherwise healthy when you passed out you are not waking up. 

 

edit, edit: It actually said "you are dead?" If so obviously there is no coming back from that. Still your fault though.

I read somewhere that they were going to make diet more important, so you'll get sick and die if you try to live off of cereal and soda alone; this could be something like that. Your character should have been watching his blood pressure a little better; tell me, would he have any reason to be under stress?

Right now even if you downloaded experimental, you can still play the stable. That's why people have been asking you to double check.

This is incorrect; I just tried it.

 

 

For those of us who refuse to do some research/reading.... pretty sure heart attacks aren't added as a random event. Everything we've been told thus far has indicated that it's caused by some sort of trauma and only happens if you also go unconscious. Dead bodies/pulseless hearts cannot be defibbed.

 

Unless it's been confirmed somewhere, please stop assuming heart attacks are caused by soda, running, randomly generated or whateverthefuckelse. :) Is diet planned to have an effect on this? Maybe. But they're not just adding heart attacks (or.....cardiac arrest) for shits and giggles.

My diet consisted of only soda, water, tuna and the random can of baked beans.

 

I may have died from a shitty diet, that is a reasonable answer

Guys, again I have posted the server on which this happened WHICH IS NOT AN EXPERIMENTAL SERVER. I wrote down the server so my friend could join me later. 

 

It was also impossible for it to have been experimental, because it was a low pop server. 

 

I was being a scardy cat and avoiding people, I insured I joined a low pop and even wrote down the name. Here is all the info again-

If everything you stated is exactly the way it happened (server, position, behavior, etc.) then it's pretty obvious it's a bug. The way they want to implement heart attacks is like if you run for an extended period of time, get sick do to various reason or even get shot  (you can get in a state of shock) you can have irregular heart rate and get a heartattack. It's pretty complicated program wise so I wouldn't be surprised if at this stage it would be glitched.

 

But this program is only active on the experimental branch, so it's really interesting and fascinating it happened to you on the stable branch.

Hmmm... Sounds like you experienced quite a bug since it was on a stable branch... The only thing I can possibly formulate is that maybe you automatically downloaded the experimental build and when you joined a regular server you still had all the experimental patches on your game, thus giving you the possibility of a heart attack.

 

Either that or like I said a huge bug. I mean maybe somehow the low pop server somehow was able to update his server to have whats in the experimental branch? IDK lots of questions.
