Cowboy hats - an invitation to shoot on sight?

Recommended Posts

I know quite a few Berlin "specialist" clubs that you would get free entry at the door and quite a few drinks bought for you should you turn up dressed like that.. ;)

You sound like some fashion-racist.

Hardly, if you can rock that look then you do it. It's a hard gig to pull off though, and as I say if you can manage it I know where you can drink for free.

If we are going African subcultures, I see your Botswana metal and raise you the Congolese sapeur: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Skomorokh/Sapeurs

Edit: You will note that not only do these men rock a style completely at odds to their surroundings, but there is not a cowboy hat to be seen.. ;)

I think you'll find it not just socially acceptable, but also very stylish. :D

On a serious note, have you read anything about Sapeurs btw? A very interesting subculture and made all the more mental considering the level of deprivation and poverty these people live amongst.

I get that slightly irritating cowboy/TheWorldPohlice/tool kind of feeling from those hats plus they're not very good for staying undetected thus making me slightly trigger happier.

Hi.

I'm wearing a brown cowboy hat, brown hunting pants, and a green plaid shirt. Does that make me a KOS bandit? lol

OP, I get it, you don't like cowboy hats. A lot of people assume anyone in military gear is a bandit, though it isn't always true. You said you wear the ballistic helmet, so maybe try asking yourself a question, did those players wearing the cowboy hats try to KOS you, because every time they saw someone in a military helmet they got shot?

There's no way to judge peoples playing style by the clothes, well except those silly masks, maybe...

Regards.

You would be amazed at how well the blue/white clothing combo will break your silhouette when sniping from a highrise...

Since it was brought up...

Ballistic protection for (you know, bullets and such):

- Ballistic helmet 2.0

- Any hat 0.0

Except that Moto Helmets are the only one's that will protect you from melee knockouts. (classed as biological I think...)

This oh so much this,,

people try holding of clicking the right mouse button for a sec try stalking people ( its a fun skill) find out if they are a bandit because everytime i get these threads it just screams one thing YOU ARE A KOS BANDIT you killed a player on sight cause he wore what the best stuff he could find( agree the masks serve little purpose and as such are a little sus but) camo has a use in survival as does a flannel shirt what if it was the best thing you had found does it change the camo if the put the blue un beret on ( un a peace keeping force)

I pick a bandit by having seen them do something bad having talked to them and if they seem shifty or they have shot at me....

Perfect system no but i am sure i have shot more bandits and less friendlies this way...

I live in the South. I'm knee deep in conservative bible beating idiocy! People who are not only ignorant, mean, judgmental, and paranoid? But proud of it.

I think on some primal level, in the deep recesses of my subconscious, my brain has made this connection that anyone wearing a cowboy hat is flaunting how proud they are of being an ignorant brute, or they are simply trying to live up to that bravado. Or maybe I've just been watching too much Walking Dead and my brain compares you to Carl's silhouette, deems you useless, and decides you should be removed. Seriously though, I know it isn't the logical conclusion.. I just hate it here. And my need to shoot you? Just a reflection of that hatred.

The only reason I need to kill someone is that I saw them. better if I saw them first an easy kill is always a bonus.

,

...or they have shot at me....

Which was sort of the point I was making. Of the people that have been shooting at me, the vast majority have been wearing cowboy hats. That's made me nervous as it's clear those wearing them are more likely to try and kill me than not. I don't KoS as a rule, in fact I'd rather observe and avoid, after all you never know what the outcome will be and even at the most basic level it's a waste of ammo if that person isn't troubling you.

Shame there is no Black raincoats yet and clothes layers... can't get my "Doc Holliday" figure done.

Best one was this, and i'll be damned if any player can be judged by the outfit he wears...

wow maybe you should consider moving to umm say Vermont or Maine. I was born and raised in the south and I have never encountered what you describe. My 4 years in New Hampshire however were pure hell on earth - rudest people I have ever met (to be fair the New Hampshire peeps blame an influx of Massholes from Boston for that)
