Have scopes been removed from the game?

Ive played for 40+hours now, casually. On my 7th life or something since mid December. And I havent found a single long range scope. Nor suppressor for the M4.

 

Its sure a mission! And I love it. Eventually Ill find one!

Currently carrying both the m68 for the m4 and the mosin longrange scope, both pristine. The kicker? I dont even use scopes, currently wielding the b95 and loving it, I figure I'll give them to the first friendly I run into, hopefully they get ruined if I'm gunned down before that.

Ive been looking for an ACOG for what seems to be forever, while finding at least 6 damaged ones.

Every time I see one my heart stops and I say to myself "please let this one be worn or pristine"

Then my heats sinks with disappointment when I find it's busted.

Item availability seems to vary based on some random factor.  Some days you'll find 20 can openers then after the server restarts it's boxes of matches or screw drivers.  The wife now asks what the spawn of the day is.  Spent 3 days lookng for a morphine injector last week and into the weekend with none to be found. 

 

Lots of epi pens, and everything else though.  Log-in the next morning and the first building I enter and there one is.  I had problems finding a worn or better ACOG also, but suddenly found two in one hour of play this morning. As for the LRS, think I've seen only one in the past week.  Haven't seen a reflex site for the fnx in a while either, now that I think about it.

 

Personally, I love the hunt of finding better gear and the more difficult the better imho.  Especially if it makes a difference in surviving.  The time spent ground pounding should eventually make you stronger then say someone who just stumbled into the game.

I found a LRS in NWAF 10 minutes ago, I admit that today I have been extremely lucky (no server hopping though I have been lucky with a restart whilst at NWAF) and have found MP stock and grip,ACOG and the LRS which I'll try find some friend with a Mosin to give to.

 

It is entirely down to luck.

Lately I've been finding a lot more long-range scopes than normal. The top spots for me:

 

• Soldier's barracks on/under the beds
• Camouflaged military bunkers in military camps (Check the floor, on top of the walls, and up the ladder.)
• Air traffic control towers both on the catwalk upstairs and underneath the staircase on the first floor
• And of course, hangars

I got lucky once and found an Acog (pristine) in hangar then SHOCKED! Lucky day there was a long scope (pristine) too. It was all about chance my friend. If you don't have any chance then get your axe and go kill whole bandits in the field of Electro.

Only found 1 scope in whole alpha lol, LRS in a barracks and was pristine :)  Never really tried to find on till the other night though. I checked NWA, then down to Zelen, then finally got it in the new mill base south of Zelen, so they are rare :)

I found 3 long ranged scopes (2 worn, 1 pristine) yesterday. I picked them up and tossed them on the ground somewhere else.

Heh I know the feeling. Dragging burlap sack with me....hoping for rope to create courier backpack, only to never find the damned rope :-/.

For me, it was the other way around.

 

Carried a rope with me, couldn't find a burlap sack. Found a second rope, then a backpack. Got attacked by a zombie, backpack and ropes, all ruined.

 

Dropped the ropes and found me a new backpack. All this time, a burlap sack was not to be seen.

i will repeat what i always point out in such threads:

 

do not expect item rarity to get balanced until well into beta.

 

until then, its just throwing items in more or less arbitrary amounts at the people. new items will always have a higher spawn chance due to the need to have them tested - thus reducing the spawn chance of everything else.

Was searching for a LRS all around...

NE Airfield -> Svetlo -> Berezino -> down the coast -> Elektro -> Cherno -> Balota -> military base in the woods -> Seleneo...

Nothing...

 

Then when I started the trek in the reverse order on another server yesterday while I was at the mil base in the woods (still nothing)

someone spawns in...shoots at me... I manage to return fire before being unconcious. When I come to the other guy lies dead and

has a LRS (damaged condition but it will do) in his Backpack despite using a SKS.

 

I was never so glad being shot at ^^
