The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)

Recommended Posts

There are some inaccuracies in your OP I would like to see fixed if you don't mind.

"The M16A4 replaced the M16A2 series in all of the U.S. Military branches"

This is not true. The US Air Force has not replaced their M16A2s with M16A4s and intends to replace them with M4s. Also the US Army and Navy still issues M16A2s in large numbers.

"Browning M2 Machine Gun (.50 BMG): Manufactured in the United States, the Browning M2 Machine Gun was first introduced towards the end of WW1, designed by John Browning. The previous version, the Browning M1919, was chambered in the .30-06 caliber, which was not enough firepower towards oncoming hostiles."

The M2 was designed to counter the threat of an armored air plane in WW1, not ground forces although it succeeded in both air and ground roles.

I will recheck my information later on. The only part of the description that really matters is why it should be in game. But I will look into it, thank you.

Anyone think a M1-Garand would be awesome? I know its similar to the M-14 because its the predecessor, but I think the 8-clip mag and signature sound it makes when the clip is emptied would be a great addition.

Anyone thought of the SVU yet?

%D0%A1%D0%92%D0%A3-%D0%90%D0%A1.jpg

It's pretty much a bullpup variant of the SVD they are adding and would be really rare. It would have less recoil than the SVD (muzzle brake) and less sway for CQB. THis would be extremely high end and rare, but IMO it still gives a really russian feel. You could add a bayonet and would usually come with the PSO-1 that they are adding next patch. Also uses 7.62x54r like the mosin should.

I have an idea for a weapon which would be useful in game.

The Stevens 87A.

It is a 15 shot semi auto rifle that uses a tubular magazine. It is the famous "gill gun". The tubular magazine is built in, so this gun doesn't require another magazine. It can take a basic scope, which it often has notches for.

Here is the related 87b. I imagine, like most in game guns, this would be a mashup, so mash these two up.

Just what the SA needs, another Septic peashooter that would never be in Chernarus in a million years.

Why wouldn't it be? It's a neat little .22 rifle that goes bang. There are hunters in Chernarus that use .22 rifles. This rifle goes for about $100. That's even cheaper than the ruger which somehow made it to chernarus. Sounds like a real steal. Do you argue there would be a local equivalent instead? Maybe, but this rifle is so peculiar, it's like using the blaze instead of a local equivalent.

Edit: Also

"As several manufacturers would later do with other wildcats, Stevens adopted the .25-20, developed by Francis J. Rabbethin 1882. The unpopularity of the bottlenecked case led Stevens to develop the .25-21 in 1897. Designed by Capt. W. L. Carpenter, 9th U.S. Infantry, the .21-21 Stevens was essentially a shortened version of the company's own .25-25 of 1895.[7] (This is an odd reversal of the relationship of the .38 S&W Special to the .357 Magnum.) The .25-25 would be used in Stevens' model 44 and the model 44½ rifles manufactured from 1903.[7]

Stevens and Taylor was bought out in 1896 by I.H. Page, who was one of the new partners and the bookkeeper. Page led the company to significant growth, such that by 1902 Stevens had 900 employees and was considered one of the topsporting firearms manufacturers in the world. In 1915, Stevens led the U.S. arms business in target and small game guns. Stevens military productions and offerings were generally limited to prototypes in an attempt to garner military contracts.[2]

Stevens was bought by the Savage Arms Company in 1920 and the operations of the two companies merged, with Stevens operating as a subsidiary of Savage and sometimes identified as "Savage-Stevens" until 1936.[2] This merger made the company the largest producer of arms[clarification needed] at the time.[8] Stevens introduced the Model 87 in 1938, which sold over a million units. Further units were sold as the Savage Model 6 by Sears.[9]"

Over a million units, sold by Sears, through mail order. Literally anyone could have mail-ordered one of these bad boys. Until the 1960s.

-No Steyr AUG?

5.56mm NATO (Paratrooper Variant chambered for 9mm)

30 or 42 round magazine

Under barrel grenade launcher attachment?

Slightly less powerful than the M4, but the 42 round mag is a plus.

Used by the Governor in The Walking Dead

-Also, the HK G36

Also 5.56mm NATO

30 round magazine

Longest range AR in the game (besides Mosin)

Several different scopes?

Rarely found at helicopter crashes and the like

I think the only military weapons that should be in DayZ should be those used by the CDF, Russians, Chedaki and NAPA guerillas and a few USMC weapons, This leaves plenty of room for a wide variety of military grade weapons while not going into the territory of weapons you wouldn't really find in Chernarus like AUGs, G36s and L85s. That I'd also like the spawn chance for top end military loot to be very very rare, and new more realistic military buildings and interiors, It seems doubtful that a CDF soldier is going to leave an M4 sitting on his bunk, new buildings like armouries would be shlick.

How many were sold in Eastern Europe?

How many FNX-45s have been sold to Eastern Europe in the past year it has even existed? What about AWC Amphibians, Blaser B95s, Colt Pythons, and CZ-75 SP-01 SHADOWs? Those guns probably exist there, but in immeasurably low numbers. Even the M4A1, which definitely does exist there, would still be in low amounts.

Either way, it's definitely authentic, just as the Blaser is. Any B95s in that part of Europe are going to be few and far, but the double rifle itself definitely looks like something you'd find in an old farmhouse.

The AUG isn't "less powerful" than an M4. They use the same ammo (M193 ball for the AUG or M855 ball for the AUG/A3)
