alexeistukov 272 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) i dont really care what guns end up being added. but we NEED more guns badly in this game. first, seeing everyone run around with M4 and Mosin is kinda stupid. second, gun variety is needed because people would have another thing to look forward to ingame collecting rare weapons etc. ("gun trophy") and they could also trade guns they don't need/don't have ammo for here's a list of guns i'd personally like to see ingame. perhaps the threadstarter could add them to his list (would be awesome) battle rifles:SCAR-H (7.62mm)G3A3 (7.62mm)FN FAL (7.62mm) assault rifles:AUG A3 (5.56mm)AK-74 (5.45mm)TAR-21 (5.56mm)FAMAS (5.56mm)G36 (5.56mm) carbines:AKS-74U (5.45mm) submachineguns:UMP-45 (.45ACP)PP-2000 (9mm)MP5 (9mm)P90 (5.7mm) machineguns:M60E4 (7.62mm)M249 (5.56mm)MG36 (5.56mm)Type88 (5.6mm)PKP (7.62mm)RPK (5.45mm)Most of these weapons would not have any place in Chenarus.. and some of these weapons are already either up, have been taken down, or are about to be put up. It's just me but i think more kind of military weapons especially assault rifles will not make the game a shootemup until the spawning quantity stands on the same level. It will actually harden the game. If you are eager to get an assault rifle right now the only choice is the M4(i know that is a carbine ofc). The only thing you have to do is to stockpile ammo and parts of it during your scavanging. Once you reach a military installation with expected fat military loot you can almost be sure(on a fresh server) about there will be an M4. You can use the stuff stockpiled before. The Ak-74 is a confirmed weapon. Even only this one will face you hard decisions. You need more slots you have to balance your food, water, medical stuff because you have to stockpile 2 kind of ammo, and maybe uncompatible attachments. Just imagine the situation when (for example) the G3A3 comes in with a 7.62*51mm cartridge. 3 kind of ammo more more attachments even harder decisions. If you do not increase the spawning rate of this 3 gun(ammo and attachments also) and keep them in military bases it will be even harder to find a gun and feed with the right ammo. Imagine that you reach a military base and lucky enough to find some ammo, clips and a military gun. If there is only one type after a succesful run you will have M4 with some bullets and clips. But if you keep the rarity of the guns ammo and stuff after your succesful run there will be a bigger chance to find an AK, clips for M4 and some rounds for the G3A3 and you still don't have a working assault rifle. High-tech modern sniper rifles ? Almost the same. Still really hard to get a long range scope for the mosin. Btw there are many ways to balance the military loot to avoid the feeling of common fps games. The saiga 12 is very common in the US, even the short barrel models, as all that is required is a $200 stamp on a $600-$1500 gun, so it's not a big deal. I know Chernarus is loosely based on Czechoslovakia, or is it the Czech Republic? The Czech Republic actually has relatively high firearm ownership and such a shotgun is not unheard of there. After the Velvet Revolution, firearm ownership became a thing. Though I have to ask, is Chernarus based on Czechoslovakia, or the Czech Republic?This is a shotgun like any other shotgun, don't let the scary black furniture scare you away like some kind of pinko! Well, it's not like any other shotgun, it uses a gas tube and piston/bolt carrier combo to be much cleaner and more reliable than your typical auto-loading shotgun which uses a silly blowblack mechanism which needs more maintenance. It is more heavy than other shotguns and thus isn't as popular as many other shotguns simply because the other ones are easier to lug around when hunting or at the range. However, if you value dependability, capacity, and ease of use more so than weight, and even welcome the added weight to help absorb recoil (this is not to say it has less recoil than other hunting shotguns), this is superior as a combat shotgun. The Saiga 12 is essentially a beefed up AK designed to handle the 12 gauge round, and can even handle 3 inch shells, instead of just the normal 2 3/4 inch shells. The mags hold 8 rounds, and the drum mags can hold 20. There does exist full auto versions of this gun, which I believe would be superb for room clearing. Anyway, who is going to stop you from modifying one in the end of the world? Just look for the third pin! :D Also, the choke is interchangeable. Will we have interchangeable chokes? Please think about the location of the weapons and their users currently in real life and in the game Arma. Do not just post random firearms you see off of call of duty or battlefield or wikipedia. Some of them are interesting yes, but many people have already suggested those. The 5.56x45 and .223 are close enough not make much of a difference. The 5.56x45 is spitzer shaped while the .22 is not, and is heavier. It's like comparing a .30-06 to a tokarev round. The extra speed of the bullet will cause it to destabilize in tissue at a range of under 150 meters or so and explode, like many rifle rounds. The .22lr will not do this. Also, I would like to correct what I said earlier about other shotguns, there are many other true gas shotguns around, one in particular uses a sort of sleeve, the Remington 1100 (a very common gun), which holds the record for shells fired without a malfunction. However, I still like the Saiga 12. Also, the WA2000 is so rare it might as well not exist, and the PSG-1 is like 20-lbs and H&K's answer to "I can't make a reasonably acccurate semi-auto rifle". It's a crap idea. Neither of these guns should be in the game. I'd like to see more Czech guns, like the vz52 and vs58 and vz26 and the cz 805 and the zh-29 (this one is particularly interesting). All Czech rifles. Of course, the cz-75 was already mentioned that it will probably be in game. I'd like to see the type A or B of that pistol without any of the weird new mods.
