well... the private hive I play on, the one with the lootgasms (implying that it's persistence ON), I did see a crash at NWAF right after 0.50 launched, it was a Blackhawk crash that had m4 mags etc. But since then, I have yet to see one, though I haven't been looking either. 

 

I think for the most part, like 99% of the time, the crash model doesn't spawn

Yeah you may be right but regarding the model in 0.51 it has changed to a  UH-1Y Venom

hi guys, feeling festive, have an akm with a full 75 drum mag wanting to trade for a compensator or aks74u mag. if you dont have either of them it doesnt matter, if you want it its yours. cant keep carrying this around its a pain in the ass. Yeah, I think the consensus (and this may have been confirmed by devs) is that crash sites are only visible on non-persistent servers. There is speculation that the loot still spawns on persistent servers - but you'd have to actually run over it to see it.

 

As my favourites list is now mainly non-persistent servers, I'm spending most of my time on them and have had a real run of luck for the past week or so. I've found five UH-1Y sites in the past few days.

I have found crash sites on persistent servers acutual burning ones and non-burning ones.  What I have noticed is that when I can see them they hardly have any loot.  Maybe they were looted already maybe not.  The ones I find on non persistent servers have loot so maybe when you can see them you cant see the loot. And when the loot is there you cant see the crash.
