Techincally this IS a new map. While the rough layout of many things is the same, the North has changed a great deal.

Well, lets hope the authors of the maps you talk about are willing to "give them up" for DayZ :)

Some might not be that enthusiastic, DayZ is quite a hated game in the Arma universe hehe.

 

Im 99% sure we will see Utes added to the current Chenarus+ map, in the SE corner, but i doubt we will get more islands.

Would be nice though, to have 3-4 small islands around the coast line, some withing swimming reach and others far out in the ocean.

This would require BI to allow this to happen and i dont think they will tbh :)

At least you would have to own Arma 3, in order to play on Altis.

Exactly like we see the current Arma 2 maps, ported to Arma 3 and the only "legit" way of doing it, is through configs, binding the two games together.

Dont ever expect any standalone map made of Altis, to appear in DayZ Standalone :)

 its an Idea fot the Future.....not yet :)  But i think as a long <dayZ-Mod Player> we all wish us new Content. (Islands for example) Most that I know want like a much larger Chernarus.

Zelenogorsk in the West + 4 - 6 KM more !?    B)

I was a tad bummed when I discovered a while ago that they had decided on using chernaraus for the SA.. and I prayed that they would change the map up alot and they have.. the new Chernaraus is amazing compared to how boring the last one was.. so much more detail in the towns.. I've spent the last few days in Berezino and that place has amazing detail (though I wish it was more compact rather than spread so far out)

 

Anyway, I'm not to sure about extra islands... even though it is a good idea.. but to be honest i think i would prefer the standard land mass to be expanded

I don't think this is a good idea, I feel that increasing player density is important down the line in this game, and expanding the map will only counter this. I'm hoping for current size of the map with 150 player servers at minimum. I probably won't get it, but I hope for it.
