Instant coffee and/or energy drinks

Recommended Posts

I was thinking that when (or after) they add the ability to actually make milk with the powdered milk they should also add instant coffee. You could heat up some water and pour the instant coffee mix inside and that coffee would not only quench your thirst, but it would also give you a nice energy boost. Just like in real life there would be a caffeine crash and you would lose your energy a couple hours later. The same thing would be applied if they added energy drinks. What does everyone else think about something like that?

I'm not for adding "energy" but if such a thing was added I would like to see the negative affects such as faster dehydration from energy drinks and so forth.  Not saying its a bad idea, keep your thinking cap going.

Idea has some merit, but actual implementation might be slightly hard, at least with that timing. You would expect a similar effect with sodas already in game, but they just add hydration as well as a small equivalent to eating. If this were to be changed to be like you want, it wouldn't be until after the food preparation mechanic is added. Mixing the coffee and implementing that might happen, but adding the later crash would require a mechanic not currently in game and would probably be something a good month away after the cooking element is added. Still, I support the idea. Its always good to add things that mix things up and have benefits and drawbacks.

Yes, this wouldn't happen until at or after food preparation is added and I think reducing your character's energy a couple hours after drinking caffeinated drinks can happen by simply having an unseen timer wait until that time and then reduce your character's energy, like how they've added that "energized" status to the latest update when your character is well fed.

I like the idea of temporary boosters as long as they weren't too complicate to understand how they work. like a cup of coffee giving you 2,000 energy for 5-10 minutes, then you loose all but 200 energy from the coffee.

Why should it be hard to do in any way?

player drinks coffee -> give 700 energy -> 5 minute timer -> timer at 0 drain energy by 1000 at 60 seconds

It wouldnt be something hard to code at all... maybe a 20 minute job to make it run well.

Maybe drinking too much would have side effects, including in extreme cases, death

Energy drinks by itself increase heart rate so imagine that you drink 2 or 3 of those (or mix with alcohol if they add it (Kvas is not beer (0.5% alc volume)) and then sprint = HEART FAILURE

Energy drinks are just caffeine and sugars. read up on them. Soda in game already gives you hydration plus a food bonus. So it's an 'energy drink'.

If you go this way you end up saying - but all people are different, they have different ages, different fitness... put that in the game. But then you will complain when you respawn as an overweight 45 year old no-exercise MacDo freak, totally out of condition, with fallen arches so you cant run. Then everyone wants to respawn as a 23 year old female freestyle rock climbing champion (small body, less food required, peak fitness, high strength to weight ratio, top stamina).  Or Rambo or Jackie Chan. whatever. And what happens to your character if he eats too much meat and not enough vegetables? Bad news.

How about we just get making fire, boiling water, crafting, sickness-control, hunting, vehicles, and plenty of bad mean zombies in the game first? And leave stuff like energy drinks, valium (for your stress), military amphetamines, and coffee, alcohol, ginseng, worry-beads, lucky rabbits feet, etc .. until much later (or never)? And you really should read up about 'energy drinks'.

ps - a well known energy drink in the real world is offering bonus stuff for CoD, if you collect enough ringpulls ... hehehe. Please don't take this badly.

Well, if i drink more then 3 cups of instans coffee IRL, i have massive diarrhea for several hours.....

Would that apply ingame aswell? :D

Jokes a side, why not tbh.
We need a lot of "crap", like this, in the game, so people can do what ever they want.
Give us 1000's of different items to loot and play with hehe.

My short time in the Army while they were processing us for basic training an 18 year old was told he wouldn't get to have energy drinks anymore.
So he went out to binge on them and induced a heart-attack. -_- What a pointless way to die.

Anyhow. I could see bandits with a backpack full of caffeinated beverages coming down to the coast to show a fresh spawn a good time. <.<

I for one, praise the holy molecule---but in coffee format.
