DayZ.... The game?

I know this is gonna cost me a busted leg or broken skull..!! But thats what DayZ´s all about!? At least that is what I used to think ;-) I know its alpha... pre alpha... and all sorts of...!!! BUT in my opinion the balance has shifted in the game. From being kind of scary .... trying not to be KOS... finding friendly companions...and surviving on U´r skill to communicate and making bonds... TO.....! And this is where I think that Rocket... is thinking details to much.... a game where U are fighting against the "world" and your own body... the loot that you depend on is to scarse... and all of your "gaming" time is offered to looting buildings.... because U have to stay alive.. instead of making bonds... or KOS ! Your choise!! I know that Rocket has a great idea ... and was the first to see the potential in it! BUT...I´ve been playing DayZ since the first mod... and I cant help .... missing the time to roleplay ... just play ... or... to be a bandit... or a hero.... without having to worry all the "game" time about .... having to loot "former miss. Prescoles" house in the hope of finding a rotten banana... that I absolutely neeeeeeeed to stay alive!!?? Don´t know if I´m the only 1 thinking ... that a great game potentetial just went wrong!? Spray painting your helmet....??? Is that a great gaming experience??? Dunno---? Not for me anaways! The grand experiences lies in ... searching the enviroment for things that make your character stronger and better, making bonds, new friends..... and/or enemies! Sickness, disease hunger and thirst just makes it harder... AND a better gaming experience. I really mean that... the details are impotant!! BUT the balance has shifted... focus is on the wrong details. And the fun and the gun in former DayZ is now hanging in a wery detailed thread! Just my input in a debate, that hopefully ends up in the best ... and first survivor game ever. Love U Rocket!! ;o)

It's really not as bad as you make it seem. If you load up on food and water you can go hours without becoming hungry/thirsty. At which point you find ANY source of water and eat a bag of rice that takes a whopping 2 slots in your 35+ slots of inventory space.

 

Also, why does everyone hate on the spray paint? Camouflage is huge in a game like this. It certainly adds to the gameplay.

There's always time to roleplay, make bonds with others and PvP. Indeed the balance has shifted in that you do all those things out of choice while you are looting and not after you have a decent loadout. DayZ is about choices. Giving the player a vast amount of choices while at the same time surviving a harsh environtment where your worst enemy can be yourself, is awesome and unique.

Yup. Ther´s my broken skull ... ;0)  Whitch is DayZ at it´s finest! I´m all into details and playing U´r character in the harsh enviromént (sry for my Danish) BUT ... its not that I cant find food and Water.... I can do that!!! Dont die and keep on playing.....! I can manage that. All Im trying to say is..... that in my oppinion the balance has shifted a bit to much, to the detailed side... and the cost of that.... is gaming experience. Time where U could be doing more interesting Things to U´r counterpart! HANDCUFF HIM, rape and murder og kiss and make up!!! U´r choise Again. The thruth lies in the details I know...... but the details are not the truth in my gaming experience. They ´r  just part of it!

well to be fair they were overly generous with skyrim, just like they are with the cod titles. skyrim was a decent game, but it was a horrible elder scrolls game.

While I agree that Skyrim did not live up to its series, you missed the joke. The fact is that they give Skyrim a shit rating and say that it's a copy-paste of other RPGs, but they praise CoD, NOTORIOUS for changing nothing about their game title-to-title, props for "New innovations" that don't exist.

If you depend on IGN reviews to make your gaming decisions for you then shame on you people. Never once have I died from not finding food or not having water. This must be a review from some coastal city jumping twat. I recommend you go inland & stop bitching please. In a year things will be very different & you agreed to take part in testing & crafting the game, hints as why the forums even exist. smh
