did Dean suggest intractable furniture last stream ?

Recommended Posts

he said somthing about interacting with furniture but wonder if this will lead to movable furniture like in Project Zomboid & Zombie Panic ?

i know he was talking about searching refrigerators & boxes .

Intractable? Furniture that keeps arguing with you and won't do what you say?

"The furniture is aggressive."

How about tables that you can talk to, or enlist as friendly NPCs - you can give them weapons and use them as escorts for when you're crossing the countryside. Just you and two or three tables walking behind you with M4s.

Perhaps you could craft an armoured vehicle out of a fridge and some tyres. Paint it green, voila you have a BRDM.

yes he did say he wanted it implemented that the furniture would move if you knocked into it and also perhaps you could break legs of to make a weapon

Yeps, but if they implement fridges, I demand they implement decapitation too.

Dean talked about making fridges intractable objects, they just needed to design a script to place them.

I thought he was referring to static containers that would be searchable, like closed cabinets, refrigerators and lockers. No animations but will introduce thousands of new potential loot locations and allow patient looters to score more goods.

Don't forget being able to use said refrigerator as a protection device when a nuclear bomb hits.

I hope they work on proper zombie behavior before they do this other stuff. A.i. processing can be seriously taxing on the system, ie, to make all of the constant vision and hearing checks alone is tough depending on the amount of realism you have... ugh.

guess what im hoping for is barricading interior buildings with furniture or at lest flipping a table for cover .

just thought most of this was highly improbable due to limitations to the engine ?

These two features are for sure related.

Do you not keep severed heads in your fridge? We all do,

my first thought from the topic name; i'm looting in a house -> some other guy wanders in -> i kick a stool sending it flying at the guys face -> wanderer dead

yeah, physics. this game needs more physics.

I'd buy that game.

decapitation would be something awesome i could see when they buckle down on melee mechanics more. Maybe add some stabbing death moves and crap to when players are low and close to death.

I do, but i've worked closely with programmers developing A.I. and saw the hit on performance that realistic behavior brings resulting in a very dissatisfying compromise. Were talking halving the framerate to get just a hint of realism out of the A.i. by a professional programmer. Think about the calculations involved in each A.I. to detect the player, to check whether the player is behind sufficient cover to be hidden and how many times per second, for each A.i. you want to do this....all in a game where the CPU has got the game on its back to begin with horrible ai that does barely any occlusion determination or path checking.

A human head should take up nine slots in the inventory, but it would be really nice to store them in various storage lockers along the coast line as a kind of welcome surprise for new players.

sharpen a stick and craft a head on a pike. Would be  BRUTAL BRUTAL crafting mechanic. Twisted and sick in every aspect or being able to put a human corpse on a craftable pike for all to see as travelers head down roads. Sick crafting mechanics like this need to be a must for a zombie game like this. Being able to make necklaces and jewelry out of ppls body parts and adorning yourself with them as a sick statement that your not a person to be messed with. Cuttings ppls bodies up with hack saws and using there bones as sharp weapons and arrow heads when you cant find animals to leach off of.

LMAO my manager at Michaels: Arts & Crafts said i scared the F$*#k out of him too. XD

me likey likey !

thats about the only way id agree to name hovering .. for posterity . alternative use for book shelves in a base .

would be nice to fill a hole storage rack in the back room of the grocery store for a fresh spawn to discover .... with a two way behind one of the heads .
