Punkrawks 136 Posted January 23, 2014 It's illegal for them to ban you from Arma 2 then carry the ban over to the Stand Alone... if you have bought a COMPLETELY different game NO BANS should carry across... Which means he tried cheating on both, or downloaded a cheat program for Arma 2 and tried running it while playing SA. One cheat, 2 bans.
deebz1234 243 Posted January 23, 2014 it is frustrating though when a patch rolls out and uses a 5 day old hive...i was pissed too lol but not enough to cheat
Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted January 23, 2014 Which means he tried cheating on both, or downloaded a cheat program for Arma 2 and tried running it while playing SA. One cheat, 2 bans. That's the only way he could have got banned. I do not believe for one second rocket would risk the legal backlash of cross banning.

Sweendawg 37 Posted January 23, 2014 The way battleye filters work would not work to cross bans like this..... most of the bans I saw were on the community ban list as I only ran private hives for dayz mod most go off the guid.... I don't belive it uses the same system anymore as standalone is linked to your steam account .... correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe you can be crossed banned as they would have no way to tell if you are the same that has been banned in a2
huf757 82 Posted January 23, 2014 Awwww poor hacker banned and now needs new steam account and game to play legit until he get's griefed and buys new and improved hack until he get's banned again and so starts the cycle that started in the mod.
Element47 2480 Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) to be fair, there was a crapton of different shady 'tools' that were used to steal keys.. "FPS Enhancer", "Map Addons" and "Audio Enhancers" among them.. doesnt change the fact that its every users own responsibility to keep his system secure and not execute random shit linked in some youtube vid description having your key stolen proves your inability to secure your system adequately against malware. and noone wants malware-ridden clients connecting to their servers. - so no, "my key was stolen" is not a valid excuse for being banned. edit: also, googling your (not very generic) username returns profiles on cheat forums, so go figure..... Derpy_Hooves (DayZ) 4521 Posted January 23, 2014 My point is, there is no way you can get banned on A2 and have the ban carry on to SA.... it's purely illegal to do so. No company on this earth can ban you from a product, serve you a new one and ban you as soon as you have purchased it... it's called Theft.
SmashT 10907 Posted January 23, 2014 yes im aware of that. But single player DayZ..... meh They can play on servers without BattlEye with all the other cheaters. There is no single player?

When these cheat websites steal passwords for specific games, they market whatever tool, hack, enhancer SPECIFICALLY for that game. It allows them to narrow the people who download it rather than getting a shotgun scatter of different games. They will upload a video to youtube claiming a wallhack or whatever for Arma2 then when you download the program it steals your Arma2 key and replaces it with a banned key in your registry. That way your stolen Key doesn't come back as "in use". The best thing to do is completely un-install and re-install your game using the proper cd key. Hopefully your new one isn't in use or banned yet.Either way, glad these people are getting what they deserve for even ATTEMPTING to cheat. Serves them right.

It's the same as Source and Gold Source games where all VAC bans carry over between them.
tsandrey 379 Posted January 23, 2014 DayZ and A2 don't share bans. Only A3 and DayZ share bans because they're both Steamworks games

No company on this earth can ban you from a product, serve you a new one and ban you as soon as you have purchased it... it's called Theft. you can buy a game and be banned from a service (and that band can carry to new games that use that service, your fualt if you buy a game using s service you are banned from), but as SA relies on a service to be able to play it (and BE was added later)... i don't know where the law is on that Edited January 23, 2014 by Sooden

Best call the lawyers then, because thats exactly what they are doing with arma3 and dayz, the only reason arma 2 bans dont carry over as well is because its not a steamworks game. It might sound like murky waters BUT...you could have agreed in an eula that a integrated anti cheat system that is licenced by a company transfers the bans over across all titles of said company...OR tie those to a engine....mmhhh. ( interesting, enlight me. ) OR you just hacked your way to the top...in ALL titels of said company.... Edited January 23, 2014 by {Core}BlackLabel

Rgds LoK Note: the OP's rather unique user name is registered to same well know hack sites. It *could* be a coincidence... could...
