libertine 351 Posted January 10, 2014 Just curious how many people would like to see the creepy music come back. The quality of the ambient music was one of the things that surprised me about the mod, along with the zombie animations, etc. The new sound guy was interviewed and said he was very against any music playing in the background. For most games i totally agree and i usually turn it off unless its very good or pleasant, like i thought Skyrim's was and some others. Sometimes i think its nice when your roaming the DayZ landscapes empty of players to be reminded that there is supposed to be something creepy and horrible happening here. In my case, i have turned the music down, but not off. I remember my first week playing the game, not knowing anything about it, entering the industrial side of Elecktro, knowing there were people killing other survivors there for some reason and climbing up on top of a high metal walkway and started staring over at central Elektro, wondering if i should go in, this part played right then... https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=r68uZehZqN8#t=180
Zarniwoop 1193 Posted January 10, 2014 I instantly turned it off in the mod, as did many others therefore I deem it unnecessary.
funky_mish 75 Posted January 10, 2014 No. I hated it when I was trying to listen to footsteps or something, but music was playing so I couldn't. I also find it immersion breaking. Especially once you've heard them all a hundred times.
TangoAlpha 39 Posted January 10, 2014 I for one would definitely welcome back the ambient music. When I first started playing I too remember the music playing in the background and making me feel that much more tense. It added another layer of suspense to the game in my opinion.
omgwtfbbq (DayZ) 1069 Posted January 10, 2014 I like the total silence during looting. Makes you extra-jumpy when you hear a zombie or a player.
wild_man 4442 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) I vote no I want more improve ambience sound effect like animals, wind on rusty gate and empty tin can blow along the road maybe old curtain blowing from broke window noise  :) this create soundtrack for me with background rhythm of balota gun shots ;) Edited January 10, 2014 by KoS
Element47 2481 Posted January 10, 2014 nature sound all the way. its athmospheric enough, no even mentioning the zombie-bunny.
blurhitz 244 Posted January 10, 2014 Sometimes the most intense and heart-accelerating soundtrack is the dead silence. Nothing makes me more tense.
Dresler 1 Posted January 10, 2014 Why do not you vote? There are people who love the soundtrack, which ye hear is not as simple as turning it off... But I do not understand why people vote NO, would be another extra to the game.

Perhaps some sort of intense music begins to play softly while in the country side alongside hearing the sounds of animals and trees rustling in the wind, but when you're near/in a city the music stops and you really only hear things like fences rattling and tin cans being blown on the road by the wind. Either way, I would be able to live with either music making a return along with other environmental sounds, or just the environmental sounds being added in. However, the environmental sounds would be most beneficial in terms of immersion than music would be.
Capo 323 Posted January 10, 2014 as much as i liked the music from the mod, and would recognize somebody's work in making music for SA, we really don't need it. Most players turn it off because it's distracting. I know i will if any is made.
djporternz 644 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) I'd like to hear waht they could come up with, but like many, music in games is the first thing I turn OFF! Edited January 10, 2014 by DJPorterNZ
The_Man 393 Posted January 10, 2014 The music in the mod was poorly done. It should not have been playing constantly. In ARMA or Op. FL. music would play at the start of a mission, when an event occurs or when you die. This is how it should be done in this game if they decided to have music. Short little tracks (maybe 10 seconds) that play when you spawn, die, find glorious beans, etc.
Millhouse 3 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) I'm the one who actually enjoyed the music, as I was always playing alone it added extra creepy feeling and atmosphere. I just like moments when I was hiding above Elektro in bushes and just looking down at the city stalking players with that music and then it started raining, the game just sucked me in, and in the next few hours, real world didn't exist...It would be nice if they put the music back in, and if somebody don't prefer it, you can always shut it off. maxotaur 135 Posted January 10, 2014 Why are people being so biased? Why not add in music regardless, there is the option to turn it off anyway, it'll keep both sides happy?
libertine 351 Posted January 10, 2014 In fairness, i did mean do YOU want to see music in, for yourself.
RelativeBlue 53 Posted January 10, 2014 As far as music goes I can take it or leave it.I think the best video game music is the kind you forget about while playing.I never once said to myself " This would be better with music."
