Weapon's Audible Distance

Why is the audible distance of a gun shot so pathetically small in the mod and standalone? I remember seeing in the wiki that some weapons have an audible range of less than 300 meters. In reality even the smallest caliber pistols would be audible from several kilometres away, in average weather conditions.

 

I think that people may be more hesitant to fire weapons if they knew that a good chunk of the map would hear them do it.

I think that audio is FAR from being sorted out.

Random zombie sounds instead of some ambient, guns too silent and being heard from wrong directions, munching and drinking loud as gun shot.....this really suggest audio is unfinished.

Agreed. Would love to see that raised to at least a km or so. But it isn't game breaking, so we probably won't see changes in that department soon.

I must agree with you. Imagine an atmosphere when you run through city and hear that gunshots everywhere.

It's been confirmed by Rocket that they have done zero work on audio yet, hence the broken zombie and can opening noises all over the place. They're having a team that specialise in audio come in and do it for them.

Alpha.

 

Crying alpha alpha is getting old, use your brain and at least give a decent explanation...they just never bothered doing it themselves they let the community solve that problem f.e. JSRS

Arent the wiki audiable ranges just for alerting zeds? I know its that way on Dayz DB.....the range for an m16 says 80m....and thats right for zeds hearing it. But you can hear an m16 shot in mod, as a player, from other the opposite end of NWA.

All the sounds are presently placeholders and will all be completely redone in bulk. Once the sounds are redone they will be implemented and adjusted....just read a whole load of stuff on reddit about it lol.

I know its an alpha, and I know the audio isn't complete, but the mod existed for quite some time, and I don't think the audible range of gunshots as ever even raised as a concern.

 

I don't think this is a situation where the fact that the game is in alpha is relevant. I think that there are currently no intended plans to increase the audible range of weapons.
