  1. Returned to DayZ yesterday after like 2 years not playing, and I got a surprisingly good experience out of it. Kind of. I found a bus in semi working condition and after scavenging in the area, found enough wheels to get it going. Damn, driving that thing was impossibly difficult, but I'm not sure if its intended to be this way, or if it was damaged in some way that made it worse. I actually really like the manual transmission, but it seemed the bus was completely incapable of making it up inclines that were too steep, even with a lot of momentum going in. The bus also seemed prone to being "beached" on any hills or bumps. I had to completely remove and reattach the wheels a few times to bounce the bus out of the ground, and at one point, when it had become stuck on a train track crossing, it suddenly disappeared altogether. So are vehicles still a bit buggy, or are busses not intended to be able to make it up certain inclines at all? It did have a "ruined" truck battery in it, so that could have had an impact, but its speed on level ground seemed pretty good.
  2. Being able to carry 5 weapons, 10 bags, and all my cans of beans on my head would also be nice
  3. You need to be careful though. Bodies give information, and fake bodies give fake information. I found the random solider corpses on the airfield in the mod to be bad enough, I don't want to know what hundreds of random bodies all over the place will do. When you see a body, you know somethings gone down. Randomly placing them completely removes that information.

    Teleportation and loss of control

Ye, happens to me often. Pretty sure there was something about it in the last patch notes.

    Randomize doors?

Yep, doors have become the new zombies as indicators of player presence. Randomise.

will zeds be dropped from the game?

The zombies are essentially done. They have minor issues here and there, but quite honestly very few of those issues affect my gameplay experience. The only problem is that they cannot increase the number of zombies until performance and stability improves. I wonder if they put performance and stability on the list anywhere...

That would be like making the AS50 in the mod an optional weapon, rather than removing it. Sure, it means people can use it if they want to, and others can choose not to use it, but that isn't really an option, since you MUST use it if you wish to compete. Playing with the option of third person is plain superior to playing without it. If others have third person, you MUST use it at times, otherwise you will be beaten time and time again.

The amazing thing is that you actually think you are arguing. Arguing what? The only thing I ever ask was that you clarify your position, yet you think you are involved in an argument. It must be tough being so adversarial.

I would also see this as an example of balance because it pertains to how the player interacts 1. With the environment (how many items he can hold) 2. With other players (how camoflauged he is) The previous poster, whose definition of balance I wanted, seemed to believe there was some form of "balance" that existed that didn't involve the interaction of two parties, and he thought that we were stupid for not believing the same. Of course, he was unable to give an example of what he meant, so he was probably just sour about something and decided to wear his big boy pants on the forum instead of addressing his real life problems. Actually, that example gives me a good idea of what a possible definition for "balance" would be in a game like DayZ. Balance in DayZ relates to how good an item is in a PvE sense, compared to how good an item is in a PvP sense. So an item like the 30 slot bag suffers in terms of PvE, by having a lower inventory count, but is superior for PvP by being harder to spot, while the larger 35 slot bag is better for PvE, but is easier to see. However balance against one or the other(PvP or PvE), in isolation, doesn't exist.

Yes. Insult people and fail to make any concise points whatsoever. Then, when questioned, claim superiority and run away. so smert

Ye, you still haven't given a clear concise definition of what you think balance is. You just keep rattling off non sensical examples and then throwing the world balance in as if it brings the idea together. It doesn't. The word balance implies two forces acting against each other. Start with that and expand with how that fits into your concept of balance in games. For example, my perception of balance involves separate systems acting against each other. In a game like counter strike, the seperate systems involve only the different players in a game. In a single player game, it would involve the player against the NPCs. In DayZ, it is both. However, there is no "balance" between something like loot spawns and zombies, because they encompass the same system; the environment.

THe ultimate skill in DayZ is patience, so if you're really good at it I guess you are a camper?

Everything you just said pertains to realism, not balance. They aren't the same thing. If they were then this poll would make even less sense because we would be voting between the same options. If you can give me a clear, concise definition of what you perceive "balance" to be in a computer game, then maybe I can try to be "more broad open minded". Until then, you aren't making all that much sense to me.

Its also worth noting that nothing is particularly realistic about DayZ

What does balance even mean in a game like DayZ? If one player has a screwdriver, while another has nothing, is that not imbalanced? If one weapon is incredibly powerful, but all players have the potential to acquire the weapon, is that not balanced? The common saying is "gameplay over realism", and it still applies here. If realism ruins gameplay, then you get rid of that realism.
