How to cure a "healthy" status ?

Since I've been slightly scratched by a zombie, my health status went from "nothing" to "healthy".

 

1. When you spawn fresh, you have no health display at all, seemingly indicating "100% health". So is "healthy" more injured than "nothing" (even only 99%) ?

 

2. How can you cure/tread this "healthy but below 100% status" ?

Is you drink disinfectant spray, the "healthy" status should disappear fairly fast.

Indeed, "healthy" then will disappear very fast-

 

And yes, I will drink poison :-/

I might be wrong here, but I think "healthy" means that you are full of food and water, and regenerating blood at a faster rate. I guess you were full on blood and therefore not regenerating. When you got scratched you lost some, and that status is telling you you're recovering well.

When spawning, you are thirsty which means you are slowly taking damage, so not at 100%. Healthy is 100% as far as I know, you might have been healthy before but it didn't register, when you were scratched by a zombie your health went down a little, and perhaps you were full on food and water, so your health regen'd to 100%, activating the 'healthy' status again.

When spawning, you are thirsty which means you are slowly taking damage, so not at 100%.

 

You're not taking any damage at spawn. Your screen will just be slightly saturated until you find a well and drink those 30 liters of water your character apparently needs...

I may have misestimated how much hunger/thirst it takes to start doing you damage, but I assumed that it was at the first level with the revised energy mechanic. And as you say, even if you aren't taking damage at spawn you aren't at 100% either, which means the healthy status wouldn't appear.

I have been stuffing my fat face with food and drink for ages and still can't seem to MAKE the healthy status happen. It has only come up randomly for me once. 

 

IF you've got it, don't try and cure it lol. Healthy status makes you into an unstoppable killing machine who eats bullets for dinner.

As someone who has had "healthy" for a long time now, yes I seem to be able to take more damage than normal. But that's probably due to the regen mechanic which when "healthy" is quite fast.

When I was healthy, I was shot three separate times and lived and was knocked unconscious briefly and was shot again running away and survived that too. Beast mode!

infections don't register the sick status, probably as intended. currently this is my situation, i know that i need an alcohol tincture or antibiotics to treat my wounds, so i can start regenerating.

This is true, though some will argue with you about it. I didn't get my healthy status till I used the alcohol tincture myself. Kept healthy by always cleaning my wounds after a fight.

In order to be healthy you need 3500 units of water (max 4000) and 4000-5000 units of energy (max is 40000) So because of that dont store food eat every can of beans you can find.

It took me 4 powdered milk packets and a bunch of trips to the water pump to get healthy.

 

Also in the SA you will NEVER regen health unless it is in the healthy status.

Healthy i think means you've regenerated health and blood back up to full

 

And have plenty of energy left and also have plenty of water stored in your belly I believe.

It's ~20000 units of energy.. not 40,000. But otherwise, you are correct..

In my experience, the best thing you can do upon starting out to get healthy status ASAP is to find a full bag of rice.. Eat the entire bag, then spam a water fountain until it says you're full.. After your stomach has emptied a bit, you should be really close to healthy. Drink a few sodas, eat a couple cans of beans, maybe drink a few more from a canteen, and you should be good.

It's a long video, but has a lot of effort put into understanding the underlying mechanics of the health system.  It's actually a rather in depth system that, imo, reacts a lot like the way a normal human body would in given situations. A lot of it is more logic than a typical health system you would see in a log of games.  The narrator also backs up  his explanations from either having tested it, or having looked at the source code which gives some of the actual numeric value of some food and health systems.  Anything that is not proven and is just conjecture is highlighted in blue.  All of this is explained in the video though.  

 

Also, if you don't want to take the time to watch the video, the best advice I can give is this.  Drink often, but eat even more often.  Water is extremely easy to find if you use the map and find the pump locations.  You will fill up on water  MUCH faster then food, so really I would recommend drinking until you are full at first, then wait for the "im stuffed" notifications go, then any food you find EAT IT.  It's almost pointless to keep food in your backpack unless you think you will be going a long time with out encountering any. Look at it like this. Your food goes into an "energy" storage which is basically what you gain from anything that has calories.  Your water on the other hand is just that, water.  BOTH of these fill your STOMACH.  So if you fill up on water until it says "Im stuffed"  then you have just filled your stomach with only water and no calories and vice versa.  Your water intake is FAR LESS than the amount you can eat though.  I think in the video he compares it to about:

 

stomach = some where around 4000 ml ( once you fill this up you will be stuffed and should stop consuming both water and food, though you will start vomiting long before you completely fill up your stomach)

 

Water = 4000ml

 

Energy (calories basically) = 20,000!!!!!  ( this means you could keep eating for a while before this is full)

 

Once you have both your water and energy levels satisfied you will begin to regen blood, NOT WHEN YOUR STOMACH IS FULL.  Your stomach being full is just simply a notification that you should wait a bit before consuming more water OR energy (calories)

 

The other 2 things are blood and health, both of which will regen when you are well fed AND hydrated.  Not one or the other.  

 

I really hope this helps, because I don't think I have explained it NEARLY  as well as the video, which i highly recommend watching considering that's the guy that has tested all this.   So far following what was said in the video has worked well for me and seems to be logical in the sense of how the mechanics work. In the end, for anyone who is just consuming food or water ONLY when it says either thirsty or hungry are just barely feeding and hydrating themselves, basically hanging on a thread of life.  This is why some of you see these messages every 20-45 mins, where as I don't think I've seen a single "thirsty" or "hungry" notification in more than a few days of survival.

"Healthy" indicates you are within the hydration/energy range to be regenerating blood, but you are at max blood.  It's a great position to be in.

Barsyl: I've watched that video. While an excellent guide, it doesn't cover the full health system. It only covers those areas pertaining to food/water intake and doesn't take into account sickness or injuries. Just wanted to make sure people are aware of that.

I think the thirst and hunger are switched around in this explanation. IRL, you need more water than you do food since the human body is composed of ~90% water. Also in-game, I always get the healthy status by eating about 3 cans of food, then filling up at a well (i.e. more water than food). Not 100% sure on this, but it has worked for me and my friends.

^This. The sick status is bugged atm, so if you aren't 'healing' or 'healthy' yet, make sure to clean your wounds. If its working you should get suddenly 'sick', then you'll see messages such as 'My wounds look cleaner'. Hope this helps!
