The ultimate flaw with DayZ

Recommended Posts

A game that is meant to be about survival but ultimately leads back to PvP.

The main flaw with DayZ will always be the endgame. The way I see it are there are two massive problems here.

1.

In the movies, people survive in the hope that they will make it through the apocalypse and be part of the rebuild of civilization. This is what motivates them and this is also there aim, a better life like before. Unfortunately in DayZ we have a static world, where the apocalypse will never end. This is a problem because there is no aim, no target you can set.

Once you have geared up you simply have to disregard any sort of survival instincts & hunt out players because otherwise you really are just running around in an open environment with nothing to do. Therefor anyone who is actually interested in a game based on survival rather than PvP doesnt really have any end game content whatsoever.

2.

Ties into the first problem. You can gear up in as little as 5 mins if you get a good spawn. For the survivors out there, this is it, game over. We dont have anything to survive for so there is no more to do.

My latest character took little less than an hour to gear up with other 100 rounds of ammo. and food that could keep him going for days. There is no reason for me to go near loot spawns as I do not wish to fight people yet there is no more I need to do to 'survive'.

Game over.

Yay another thread about something everyone is tired about seeing threads for, my favorite!

Alpha, friend.

Nothing is set in stone. There will be changes to the loot table and where loot spawns. Right now, balanced loot is not a concern; the main concern is finding all the bugs and glitches possible so they can be fixed

Not to beat a dead horse here, but it is Alpha and early in the piece. We will see more content soon.

In real life people are happy enough having food, company and a warm, dry, safe place to live. In-game that would be boring as hell. That is your problem.

There are many threads about this, but anyway the game is still in Alpha so am sure all concerns will be addressed

Also what do you expect for endgame? Find a female character and make babies?

That's sexist; what if s/he is playing a woman, and needs to find a man to reproduce with?

No but seriously OP, no. Go away.

Find a reason to play or don't play. What's to get? The same can be said for the mod. Personally I'm just greedy and curious, so I'd fix a car and want a heli. I'd fix a heli and want a camp. I'd steal from one camp and want another.

I've been content, but DayZ has a way of taking it all away in the blink of an eye and I'd do it again.

No, but a more dynamic world which we can help to develop a midst trying but ultimately failing to defeat the zombies.

Not if your from a first world country. People want to get rich and have masses of power. An open environment like DayZ which is completely ungoverned by anyone other than the players themselves is a great platform on which some sort of long term progression goals could be placed upon.

A-L-P-H-A...what does it spell for you?

A game design that is ultimately flawed even once more content is introduced and bugs are reduced. Diseases and crafting are interesting but it is all ultimately a gimmick because the chain of power is this.. Hands > Axe > Gun.

I am saying the concept is flawed, I am not complaining about the state of the game as it is now. Even if Rocket delivers on every promise the game still wont fulfill the potential this genre has. Not on such an awful engine.

The balance of loot is irrelevant. As I said above anything outside of the Hands > Axe > Gun table is ultimately disposable.

Surely there isn't already 1000 other threads whining about KoS/PvP

There is nothing wrong with killing or sight or pvp itself but it should absolutely not be the focus of the game. It should be a resort.

The balance of loot is very relevant.

We need an auto delete function that removes threads after a certain threshold of key words have been entered.

I've got a better idea. Let's just stop replying to these completely redundant threads which do nothing but bitch and moan.

Seriously, people. If you don't like the game, there's an easier solution than typing out a fucking essay trying to convince everyone else to hate the game too. It's called Steam Library>DayZ>Delete Local Content.

The ultimate flaw with DayZ is people like OP whining about mean KoS'ers killing them and taking all their hard-earned stuff that they so got attached to :(
