I am a cold-blooded murderer

Recommended Posts

Every game must have a villain or it just gets boring.

What if the zombies were also a threat. Then "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". Could lead to temporary alliances. Doesn't remove KOS but gives and alternate choice.

The adrenaline rush you get when picking off a well-armed and coordinated group of people one by one with a hatchet is incredibly intense.

They're either not well-armed or completely disorganized if they allow someone to come within axing proximity.

On topic: Ofcourse bandits and murderers are needed for this game, but the risk/reward needs tweaking so there's more of a balance. Kills for the lulz should be minumum because of the zombie threat and difficulty of surviving, but both those aspects are not where they need to be to make this the cutthroat game it should be.

Kill-on-sight is often discussed here on the forums, whether or not something should be done about it, etc. However, the vast majority of the threads started regarding this topic is by people who are angry about being murdered, think it is unfair and so forth.

There isn't a vocal enough response to this controversy from the people who choose to play as murderers. We are part of the game itself; an unrelenting force that must be dealt with to survive the same as zombies, illness and the environment itself. Without us, DayZ would not be the success that it is. A large number of people who buy and play the game do so because they are entitled to this strategy, if not encouraged. The developers know this and they will never change the system. If you hate murderers, go play another game.

I'm not just a bandit. While I do rely on banditry as almost my sole source of items and survival, I choose to murder as many denizens of Chernarus as possible because of the thrill it gives me, especially when I kill well-armed veterans armed only with a hatchet. This goes beyond mere kill-on-sight; I actively hunt and kill various targets depending on the thrill and risk involved. The more likely I am to be killed attempting to murder someone, the more likely I am to attempt to do it. The adrenaline rush you get when picking off a well-armed and coordinated group of people one by one with a hatchet is incredibly intense. This is what makes DayZ the best stealth game ever created.

I still kill freshly spawned players from time to time, but it is not very exciting or rewarding. Usually this happens when I am passing through a town for whatever reason and happen to see them, but I do not actively camp spawn points. I know some players do, and I do not think what they are doing is wrong, but I just don't enjoy it much at all.

Hope to see you in game.

Unrelenting force? "Ok."

But sure, KOS is often both the logical as well as the fun choice. I try being a hero sometimes but more often than not it's just begging to be shot. I guess it's very difficult to play a hero, or a true bandit, successfully without being shot. That's a challenge. KOS is the easy way out imho, although I'm probably as guilty as the next guy.

You never have, and you never will.

A well-armed and coordinated group will KoS you before you even have a chance to get close with a hatchet.

Ah, yes. I've had a hatchet buried into my skull one too many times since release. Now I take the same route has him. Anyone with a gun is a threat to be disposed of. Anyone who gets within my proximity is a threat to be destroyed. In this harsh environment, the only thing I can  trust is that my helmet will protect my noggin' and my vest will guard my heart. My M4 does the talking.

To sum it up, you are an average DayZ player without imagination.

While I don't quite understand the reason for this thread, a few "hunters" are good for the game. As long as not all of the players just KoS it will not harm the game. I just hope people don't get bored so fast... :/

The only true way to play this game. Have done so ever since the first day the mod debuted. We will actively hunt any living soul we find in the game, geared or not. The game got about ten times better when we were able to hand cuff all the ungeared noobs we can find and force rotten food down their throats and watch them puke and complain before we blow their brains out over an unopened can of spaghetti. Then travelling over to air fields and military bases killing looters and server hoppers alike to replenish ourselves on ammo and drinks.

Then when we feel like committing genocide we make a trek down to Chernogorsk and wipe the city clean of wannabe gunmen and travelers. With every kill each and every member of our group finds a complete sense of enjoyment over possibly ruining someones day after they possibly could have spent hours accumulating all of their gear, which was all destroyed in mere seconds from a few bursts of accurate fire. We rush, willingly, into any situation fearing none and killing all.

What can I say? It's just pure fun.

True, and as much as I'm not a fan of KoS.. the game would be boring if there was no fear of being randomly shot. But my question is what do you get out of killing an unarmed fresh spawn? They have no gear so why kill them if they're not a threat?

I know people will hate the comment I'm about to make, but...Sure, they're not a threat right now, they have nothing. HOWEVER, if you allow them to leave you alive there is a chance that at some point they will end up killing you. That's not usually a risk I am willing to take. I'm not saying I'll try to kill EVERYONE I meet, I have left a few people alive, usually when they have literally no idea I'm there, but 9 times out of 10, I will at least attempt to kill them.

Pfft. Kill them? Make friends with them is what I do. Most of the time they are a friendly guy too.

Being a bandit hunter is better than being a bandit. The ability rob people who also have guns is a good one.

Only kill if you have too. Killing a new spawn for the reason that they might get gear and kill you is stupid. They are just gonna spawn again aren't they fools. Talking to them means that they will not kill you at all and no one needs to die. It you want to protect yourself use you words not your bullets. Bullets won't work.

Hunting a kill squad is the best fun I've had. Especially when you find other player who have had run in's with that kill squad. Though there's no vehicles or C4. I loved stealing and breaking heir vehicles or setting traps with high explosives as they had like a 40m blast radius. First time I tried using it I blew myself up as I thought I was at a safe distance.

I try to be a murderer too. But if theyre super pathetic fresh spawns, i'll help them out, give them items and even guide them to a military base. (like i just did)

I had this weird thing in the mod where I ran into two others at balota airfield. It was kinda dark and I was crouching through bushes near the industrial area and the end of the airfield. We all had guns. And all we did was yell at each other no shots fired. I had that military semi auto shotgun the M1014 with slugs and the other two had an M16 and an MP5. I could have knocked both of them out with one shot too. We teamed up and found this guy with a broken leg at the industrial area who was actually stalking me the whole time but a zombie broke his leg. So we made it our mission to go to cherno hospital and get morphine for him. We got to the hospital but had to break the glass as all medieval supplies outside had been taken and no one had gone in yet. So the guy with the MP5 the quietest gun did and we rushed in to get the morphine and we took several syringes and other supplies. We went to an apartment to see if we could get good and stuff as the sun had just gone down so people wouldn't really see us if there were any bandits. But then the zombies blocked the door on the way out. And then I fired my gun. All the zombies ever heard that. We tried holding them off but started to run out of ammo and were down to pistols. And we had come under fire from several different people with different weapons. No idea if they were trying to help or kill. We jumped out the back balcony as we were near the forums floor and we a broke our legs but had the morph one to fix ourselves. We escaped the zombies. And we found that the guy with the broken leg had crawled halfway to cherno almost with a broken leg. We fix him up find someone's car from a busy who wasn't happy about 4 dudes hopping in and taking it with sniper shots breaking two windows but we were fine.

The. We had a head on collision with a bus and at least I died from it. They didn't have headlights on and we didn't see them.

So if you use your words you can have fun little things like that happen to you. And that's why I play DayZ. Just watch out for busses at night with no headlights.

Hi guys :-)

Normally i`m not a KoS-Player in DayZ.
At the Mod i`ve tried to teamup with the most of other players.
But this time, i`ve tried a few variations in DayZ SA.

The last time, i played together with 4 other friends on a full SA-Server and we cover our positions at the Northern Airfield.
We had all an M14 and 2-3 mags for it. + 2 Pistols as backup.

I was on the top of the firestationtower where the hangars are.
So i was the spotter and suddenly, when we wanna go back to the tents, where the serverhoppers spawn, i saw 4 players as a squad trough the middle in direction to my position.
Then, we waited and they group up to 2 players in each group.
One group loots the tower, the other the hangars.

When the Hangargroup was away from the towergroup we start shooting.
The towersquad was easily killed without a hit on one of our squad.

So the Hangargroup split up after hearing the short shooting.
One of them lays down and rob forward, the other tries to run behind the hangar and where the wall is.
But he got killed after he was near to us.
The last, lay down-enemy was killed after flanking and stood behind him. So he had no chance.

Suddenly, after we killed these 4 player-squad, there was another 2 player-group coming from the tents at the northern position at the NW-Airfield.
They didn`t see us, we saw them first and regrouped.
So they walked into our trap and we got them easily from both sides and behind them.

After this, we looted them and make sure that we are save in our new position, the woods.

This event was fun to play and nobody from us was hurt or something.
We disciplined killed 6 players in about 10minutes and got new ammunition, a few things to be full equipped.

This KoS, was neccessary in my opinion, because if i where alone, without my buddys, i bet i would be killed on sight by these groups.
Others experiences in the mod, where we met other people from all around the world, are nice too.
But in this early level of the game, where there are so many serverhoppers and KoS-Players, its the right way in most of the situations.

Hopefully, after a few months of the DayZ-Game Evolution, it is possible to meet more of the friendly players ingame, to teamup with.

KOS'ing/Banditry is valid and in some ways a necessary way of survival. By KOS'ing you eliminate any threat that may posed to you, even if that player looks under geared you never know if there is a hatchet in the house he goes to next and what his thoughts are on killing other players. In real life you just can't take that risk.Of course alot of people will say "It's a gaem iz not real life!" But DayZ, I don't know what it is about it just feels more real that any other game. You must have felt it too, walking through a forest or in a town and you spot a player, your heart, all that adrenaline, you don't get that in any other game, In that very moment the game Is Real, your next actions decide if you will live or die. It's kill or be killed.

Pfft someone is playing on super easy mode. Try breaking their legs, make them crawl and beg for mercy. When help arrives (either friend of him or a random) then you kill them both.

Usually I don't KOS my self. I don't get any pleasure in killing people. I remember the moments when I help people, I don't remember every kill I have made. You get much more awesome moments when you keep them alive.

Also I don't get why people are whining about KOS so much. I have played for about 15 hours now and haven't died. I have travelled from NWAF to elektro to Balota several times. Met bambies and hammermurdering people. Never died though. I even tried finding someone to kill me because I am bored and want to start over. Where the hell are the KOSers everyone is talking about??

I hope we meet ingame OP. Would be a pleasure killing you.
