For the loot exploit just lock their personal data from accepting new items if they've looted in the same map cell, on a different server, within N minutes of logged in time (or some reasonable amount of time logged out). If it's not rewarding in terms of loot / time they won't do it. Especially if N is longer than the item respawn.

For the people quitting out of combat and denying a kill you would only need a short logout timer. If you can't kill them in that time then too bad.

A simple 15-20 minute rejoin timer on a server you just left would get rid of the stupid disconnect' date=' bandage, relocate, rejoin and shoot in the back crap thats going on.

Server loot hopping would need another type of fix though.

What i realy would like is for servers to lock 5 minutes after server reaches x players, and unlock once it drops below y.

That would get reduce the immersion breaking players spawning inside areas you have completley scouted and made sure their clear.

Either that or add a notification when someone is logging in within 150m of you. Say a Extreamly loud "Yawn" or simmilar plays when someone connects.

Even 5minutes would be enough to vacate an area.

Efficient server hopping for loot requires multiple servers in rapid succession to get the highest probability of for the desired loot. Just a 5 minute cooldown timer would make this much more of a hassle.

However, if a cool down is possible, how about a progressive cooldown dependent on connection attempts. Lower thresholds are shorter cooldowns, while higher thresholds for continued attempts after the lower tiered attempts.

(times in example are arbitrary) ie.

Player DCs and is subject to cooldown timer for next login.

After next login, player DCs again within Greater DC Window and Cooldown is increased for next login.

example windows (times are arbitrary)

1 DC within 30minutes - 2minute cooldown

2 DCs - 3 dcs within 30minutes - 5 minute cooldown

4+ DCs within 30mionutes - 15minute cooldown

Combined result for a DCer who intends to re-position and attack his attacker.

2 min initial cooldown

+ Time to reposition and bandage

+5 minute second cooldown (for 2 DCs within 30min window)=

aprox 7-10 minutes reaction time

For Loot server hoppers, The progressive cooldown timer would make it exponentially less efficient per their time to server hop.

Likewise, normal players are discouraged to server hop looking for daytime servers and clear weather while only minimally effecting players wishing to change to a single server (meet up with friends, accidental DC).

This, of course, is separate from a 30sec (or whatever time) character persistence after logout.

Progressive DC cooldown. It's not a bad idea.

well seriously most of your ideas are bullshit. i have to change servers caused by poor performance belongs to server issues. thats not server hopping to get better loot or whatever.

should become less of an issue as the DayZ netcode becomes more stable

I have no idea how to operate a server

But what about a longer term solution where the server logs player log on, log off activity over say a month then if for example user "LollyLicker" showed a pattern of regular server hopping then next time he logs on he's stripped of all gear including pack and has spawned in the middle of Cherno, Elektro, Berez or stary

as i said idk how it works so if this cant be done then i've learned something at least

further in this great wall of a thread, rocket has mentioned the closed testing progress and how it's not ready to release it to us yet. They're working on it.

Don't worry, they'll get it down.

Oh god. Please don't make infected run inside....its the only way to escape/get a chance to kill them as is! Ack...

Haha! Right!? That is literally the only tactic I have found effective to survive particularly when I have yet to find a weapon.

Hate to sound thick :p but anyone care to explain how and where to get the files from ?

Will i also lose my current weapons and loot ?

Queue all one entry houses in Cherno and Elektro with bear traps at the doors or around the corner.

Toolbox is extremely rare or at least I only found it once, hope there's an easy way to disable those to prevent griefing.

Imagine Beartraps in a moonless night ..

Don´t forget to grab those morphine injectors ... i never ever go without them anymore. Deadly Doorsteps, Doors of death, Steep stairs and finally the ultimate bonecrusher .. the bear trap :D

I have my reservations about this one.

As cool as it may sound (and it DOES sound cool) I have a terrible feeling this will just be a another griefing tool used by the loot hopping brigade.

I foresee barracks and other loot rich buildings peppered with these (well the entrances at least)

Apart from that it's definitely a nice addition that comes with a multitude of dastardly uses Mwahahahahaha.
