How do you know? What the CEO's nick? :o

Ondrej is one of the man behind the RV engine. He's the brother of the CEO Marek but I haven't sen him on the player list. Dwarden seems to be testing also.

you guys are extremely optimistic (this Tuesday, Wednesday, etc...)

IMO it will take at least a week after all the bugs are sorted for actual release - or until we will be able to play anyways - how long does it take to setup 1k servers?

BIS will run some servers through a hosting provider who will also run some. I think we will be able to handle 50-100k concurrents (this is from memory, i can't be sure of the exact numbers).

So we are like addicts who know they got not money for their fix, but hope anyways

here, to improve the mood:

Marek, he is gone now but his brother Ondrej is in.

Perhaps they're proudly test-driving the finished Pre-Alpha?

Pretty sure rocket once posted on reddit that they've lowered their iniitial goal to 20 players

Edit: Welp, he actually said that 20 players are not enough

Think about it though.

On a battlefield map there's atleast 2 Km2 usually.

Even with 32 or 24 you run into players heaps.

30 seconds between encounters.

Now 255 Km2 is times 100 30 seconds times 100

Well generally in BF there is objectives like destroying or capping points to progress or lower the enemies tickets. In DayZ the objective is not to die.

Sure, but I don't think you will be staying somewhere in forest for the whole time. You will go looting towns. So now we can pretend that those towns are the „objectives“ where people will eventually meet.

But with an alpha release of 50 people and there being over 50 cities, towns, villages, farms etc. You're not going to run into many people unless they crowd around the Southern cities like many do in the mod.

Oh yes, you are right, but still, there are some towns/cities (as you mentioned) where people go more because they are bigger = bigger chance to find some loot. Actually, I don't know if the loot in the SA will be much different but if not, people will eventually go looting those bigger and military places. And there is not over 50 of those places. I hope you see what I meant =D.

It'd be like playing DayZ mod in Altis (Arma3).  Which is pretty crazy btw, but kills time while waiting for SA.

I think I have deja vu. Didn't we talk about the fact that Steam is hosting servers and it won't be an issue also when the bugs fixed Rocket presses the button and it's out, last month?

I can't remember anymore. Every week someone says it'll be here next week. It's been going on since July. No offense, but I don't think anyone knows at this point. That Snoww guy, who is a tester, said 100% by 2014 but I don't think Rocket or anyone has spoken to the issue in months.

EDIT: Specific dates that is. I know Rocket has stated that it's out when this latest bug is fixed. But then there was another bug, so I'm not even sure what bug they are on at this point. I think it's a crash occurring during character creation.

I think it would be interesting if they broke down what the thirty member team is working on. For example this week: 10 artists worked on food items 10 programmers worked on character creation bug 10 coffee interns got coffee and did blow in the toilet.

I don't feel like they owe us any info at all, but occasionally I get the feeling that Rocket is the only one working on stuff and I know that isn't the case.

I like how KSP does it. Every week they break it down and show what team members are doing what. It's a nice personal touch and keeps me checking in from time to time.

Thanks!

I would be really happy if it came out this week. I have one more free weekend before holiday obligations begin. If I don't buy it this week, I'm afraid I'm going to be forced to watch from the sidelines until after the new year. That's going to be painful considering I've been following development for almost a year. It's been fun though.
