  1. Grabarz (DayZ)

    Exp Update: 0.59 (+hotfix).

Has the night been fixed or can you still enable night vision by gamma tuning? My hopes for the new renderer are that it enables pitch black darkness like in Arma3 or GTA5.

Status Report - Week of 06 Oct 14

This. Another frustrated player who quits. Prepare for a long, sad break dude... The whole Dayz Alpha experience taught me NEVER to buy an alpha game again. The fun it can bring temporarily just doesn't make up for the frustration in the long run. If you are short in money developing a great game and therefore decide to create revenue by releasing an alpha version commercially, you should have the decency and invest some of your millions to finish your product. Your don't have an excuse for current unplayable state of the game after all the millions you made BI. It's our money we paid for a FINISHED product. USE IT!

Experimental Branch saw many changes in 0.44

Indeed. I would so like to play again after two months abstinence from the game, but at the moment the game is nothing but annoying due to the worst zombies the game has ever had, including DayZ Mod. I wish they'd just roll back to the old ones until they got them fixed. They are much too fast, they all of a sudden appear from nowhere so you can't sneak in to a twon or building with any sort of control over the situation by estimating potential threats around you, they can be invisible or appear without making a sound until they punch you from behind... And I can't believe they even haven't managed to fix the random sounds getting triggered. How hard can it be? Rocket had been talking about a massive team upgrade for the second time in the SA history, making promises after promises, but instead of crucial improvements we get NOTHING but a few eyecandy features and more diverse loot, i.e. features that are not ESSENTIAL. Please fix the game! I miss it dearly!!

Thanks for the info, haha! Haven't played in weeks and the comments earlier made me not try today's stable yet. Sounded like a waste of time. Anyway, just take my rant as a warning Bohemia. Fanatics dictating anything sure would be the end of your creation.

Quote *sigh* I started playing this just the other week. The realistic nature of this game really appealed to me, since there are not many out there which reach these heights. So seeing this in the patch-notes makes me *sigh*.... I really hope this is added back and they don't try to go with a COD model for this game... because then, DayZ would just turn into crap and worthless... Why are they doing this? Are they giving in to complaints from militant moralists? Sorry, but that's totally against that DayZ spirit ffs.. Also been wondering what takes them so long to implement the suicide option we could see in the original teaser. It's been confirmed several times by Rocket, with confirmation that it will come soon weeks ago, but still no sign of it. Similar scenario maybe? I also hope these "options" will be added back, otherwise this is a big step into the wrong direction. I've never made use of these features yet, but I read stories that made me burst out laughing every time. It's just bloody black humor so please get on with it and complain about child abusing catholic priests or war crimes or anything else where it is appropriate...damn fanatics. And then there is just this bullettpoint in the changelog, but no more info? You gotta be fucking kidding me...
  6. How many people does the team have at the moment? Last time I remember reading a comment regarding that Rocket said they'd employ more people after alpha release. I think that he said up to 20-30 people. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but to me it seems the contrary has happenend. And now recently Rocket wrote that the team would be doubled. Double what? The 5 developers who really work on DayZ or the alleged 20 people? Could well be I missed something they uttered on one of the too many communication channels they are using. If their intention was to be to confuse us they couldn't do a better job. And then the missed deadlines for patches they announced without any info until the deadline is reached. Perhaps this a result of exactly that communication disaster, because apparently they can't even keep track themselves of what they said. The problem for me is not that development can be slowish, but it doesn't seem they want to finalize the game anytime soon...if at all? Bohemia doesn't seem to take it seriously, otherwise they'd invest in a devteam with appropriate headcount that can deliver so we finally get what we actually payed for. I haven't played in four weeks and I would really love to, but the stable version hasn't been updated in a over a month and the experimental is so buggy it's unplayable. Meanwhile the amount of people actively playing has decreased by 25% in a MONTH which is a devastating trend if it continues...I'm really curious where this is going. And we are still waiting for the roadmap they announced months ago and for the most basic and annoying bugs to be fixed. I for one would be happy to see the random sounds not being triggered all the time. How hard can it be to fix something like that for a 20 people team? Oh that graph:
  7. Cheers for the info. At least something, although I doubt that my ping will be good enough.
  8. Thanks for the info. Haven't played for weeks, because I only play Hardcore and there is no experimental server for that. 20 - 30 people working on the game? Really? Or are the assets frozen already? ;) Hopefully I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling...but then I haven't seen any progress if there was any, because there was no update to stable. Luckily I learned to ignore the dev teasing and fanboi jabbering about how this is still the best thing since mommy...nothing to look forward to brings no disappointments.
  9. That, as far as I understood, has historical reasons. Apparently it all started on 4chan and afterwards rocket posted on reddit to mindstorm ideas with the "pre-" fanbase. At least there is this now: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/131-devtracker/

Also wondering here, as I play nothing else but hardcore. Did they simply forget to push a button? :o

And I get annoyed by people who can't grant others benefit of doubt. And your postcount indicates that you're pretty new to the game, which makes me suspect that you are an example for my assumption that many people who bought the game missed the events prior to release and this plus frustration perhaps makes you troll like that. No please, we are talking about a break relating content releases that has now lasted three weeks over xmas and if you would have read the info available, you should know as well as me what I'm talking about. That it was released right before christmas was unlucky that's all. Get a life.

Chill guys. Rocket wrote that he'll fly back to Prague today. However, as NZ is at the other end of the world, he'll prolly have off over weekend due to jetlag (he should have). Clearly the dev team can't release patches without their boss, but some content should be readly waiting for him to be reviewed. My guess is we'll get a patch end of next week. Seriously, grant the guys some rest. Whoever followed the last months before release should understand that it was a well deserved holiday. Be glad that DayZ is a big success, because that makes for a very promising future of the game.

    Lets talk about 22. lr

Yeah, maybe tl;dr? This thread is full with information that proves the contrary. Did you guys read what I wrote about the history of the gun I just posted? If you have doubts, you can also watch the video on .22 firepower earlier in this thread. This caliber can certainly kill not only with headshots. I'm all for smaller caliber instead of everyone running around with "big fucking gun". The purpose of this game should be to survive with whatever you find, not to blow every other zed's and person's bits to Mars. Of course a .22 is not the strongest, but good for "emergencies". Once the hordes of zombies roam the streets in masses in a later version of the game, we'll probably rarely use guns or if so for self-defense against other players at close range. :o Which is I think what it comes down to: we'll have to wait to see where the devs take us before we can argue what the best weapon will be. Where the game is now, we could all be as loud as we want, but I hope that'll change. Apparently the gun I posted earlier is highly modable. Look at that retarted combination, lol:

    Lets talk about 22. lr

How could I miss this thread? This is what I posted yesterday in the Weapon Survey: Lovely to read all that was said about the .22 calibre. It says in my description that this gun was also available as magnum type. >:( Which is the forth smallest on this pic posted earlier: This is a gun with a bloodied, dark history. On the other hand this confirms its deadliness, which is a good source of motivation to use it in a game against zeds. B) There were 10, 20 and 30 shot mags for it and it could be converted to full auto. EDIT: Found more info on it. The gun was apparently used in the second Bond movie. And, according to a poster in a german gun-forum, it is easy to fit a silencer on the cylindrical barrel extension and that one could remove the barrel by taking out a pin. Which is, he writes, what the RAF did. This and a prio of CZ over their american counterparts are my only wishes for the game. For pistols that should definitely be the CZ75 (according to Wikipedia it's the most popular gun in the Chech Republic). IMO the guns availability should follow a halfway decent storyboard. For example it is thinkable that Chernarus was totally overwhelmed with getting the virus under control because its own military got sick and that there was an international/NATO attempt to get it under control. So, some military guns could actually have reached that relatively rural part of the world, but I hope they'll remain very rare. Not necessarily for the primary purpose of realism, but most of all for fun.
