November Round-up

Recommended Posts

Ahh right, that's just those running the game.

Server has been down all day - was getting very confused as to where you were seeing them.

Here is a proper list of players on the Steam Test Server:

That's pretty disheartening as you can see the last update was on Friday and subsequently we can observe that the test server is down. It's Monday night in Prague, right? Or is it still Sunday? That would explain it...

Server isn't always up - it's only put up when they require an aspect to be tested.

Remember too, it IS the weekend, the developers do have a life outside of their workplace too - they can't always be active!

I expect testing servers to be down on the weekends. -_-

It's Sunday there, so it makes sense. They were testing last week so I would expect that on Monday they would be back at work and testing, since they need to perform stress tests prior to the alpha launch.

So... if the test server is down, I wonder who is running the game...

I think it's time we bump the release imminence level to orange - any day now. Red will be confirmed/announced.

On November 5th nothing will happen release wise. If we're lucky maybe a picture of the sun in game.

It's the 3rd today.

Yeah, I know that. Tomorrow is Monday and therefore testing should continue. Based on that combined with chatter from the different developers on Twitter and Reddit, we might be able to form a picture of when we might see the Alpha as it draws nearer.

I should add that I don't expect a fifth of November release date, but it might be plausible. It's still highly probable we will see it this month. It is, after all, prudent business practice to release in time for the holidays.

Not in NZ, I hope I get it earlier.

Even though I probably can't get it.

But the alpha is... Still a test.

Talk about splitting hairs. The internal pre-alpha tests still have to take place before a public alpha test.

They aren't that different though.

What should they really have to fix from internal alpha to external?

I bet one thing though we have to get something...

Because of numbers, man! Something close to half a million people are probably going to try to play it on day 1. The servers have to be able to handle it. That's why they have to test the game internally to ensure the network architecture is stable and reliable, ect. The gameplay has to be at least as stable as the mod version, otherwise people are going to bitch and moan and call rocket a liar because at the end of the day 90% of people don't seem to understand what "Alpha" means. The devs want things to at least work before they unleash a product to people who are probably going to treat it like a finished product anyway.

And when you think about that some 14 year old who was lucky to get in before yourself on the launch day, might take your server spot... yea, that's not going to be nice.

I didn't get on gta 5 day one and everything turned out fine.

But, do they not have proper servers organised yet?
