[SA] A power station that could be kept running to supply power

Right well this might be a stupid idea but I was thinking it would be cool if there was like a powerstation that could be kept running by players on a server to supply the map with electricity, now if there's no one running it then the whole map doesn't have power. That means cities and towns with no lights. I think it'd be a great mid-end game venture. Heroes could attempt to keep it going, scavengers could try and get spare parts and bandits could try and take it!

Anyway probably a stupid idea but what do you think?

It has been discussed a lot before but to make it a decent suggestion imo you'll need to elaborate a bit by explaining what the payers would need to do to get the power station running and keep it going.

What about generators for houses? I mean, there are generators that run with fuel right? So maybe these could spawn randomly in the houses of the map (because they are to heavy to carry). And then people could use fuel to keep the energy of a house up. With this they could use different things, like everythings that needs electricity. This could result in players making their own homes, a sort of end game. Sure bandits could break in etc. like in real life and that surely is an issue, but would be cool to see that at some point in the game.

i think one of the best and genuine ideas to establish some sort of end game.

and from what i can recall Dean once was talking about future Base Building and he had quite vivid visions in terms of creating whole security circuits and systems for your base (see Minecraft)...which implies the generation of power

I think a good reason why I would take control of a power station is the ability to barter. While it may not be a necessity, what if, perhaps, at night zombies like to go to dark places and the light helps keep out a small percentage (a percentage that is big enough to turn the tide), and in exchange for 20 cans of beans, you get your power station back. If not paid within 2 game hours, we shut down Electro and you get your night creatures.

 

 

Light could be a potential zombie-deflective. Not neccesarily all of the zombies, but a small amount (say, a certain group that learns cold is associated with darkness).

While it may not be a necessity, what if, perhaps, at night zombies like to go to dark places and the light helps keep out a small percentage (a percentage that is big enough to turn the tide), and in exchange for 20 cans of beans, you get your power station back. I would like to see a hydroelectric plant with a dam that actually fills depending on the rainfall.

Maybe they have randomly fluctuating upstream (off map) rainfall aswell.

That way players might at times run into a problem where they've run it too long and have to let it fill.

Fuel plants are unsustainable unless they're small scale generators.

Another idea is a solar farm, steal some panels for a camp?, but I see it as a bit unlikely in the general theme of chernarus.

This is a good end game concept. Kinda like king of the hill. Only the thing would be, how do you get it so a bandit doesnt pose as a worker then waste everyone inside?
