garbage trucks, with loot in a worse condition

i think it would add to realism, if there we some garbage trucks around the cities, that has, loot in them, not in perfect condition, but some loot, you can take if you are really in need of something, like if your boots is in destroyed condition, and you need something fast, you might find a pair, in not the best condition, but usable until you find something new,

 

what do you guys think?

Probably good for crafting possibilities but the condition has to be very bad if it had to belong in a dump truck.

 

Maybe chances of finding something good would have to be like .5%

 yeah thats what i mean, and in the SA they are talking about rationing, like not eating all food, so maybe find can of beans thats 50% full or less, or other kinds of food, where some/most of it has been eaten, just mixed stuff, the point in this, is, that its not a garbage truck you would loot, if you have good stuff, and only want more, this is for people, who might have been robbed, or just started, or maybe used up all of their stuff, i think it could be fun, i and i certently would feel bad for the person, if i saw a player looking thru garbage in hope of finding some food, and might wanting to help them :D

I like the idea of digging through garbage bins, or possibly even trucks.  I would think it would just be more full of useless crap other than maybe minor stuff for crafting (tin cans, string, empty bottles, ect).  Any food that's opened would be spoiled, but that in itself could be useful.

Garbage trucks, garbage cans at peeps houses, and dumpsters. You would for sure be digging through this stuff in a zombie apocalypse. Not sure about edible food items because they would have to be sealed cans, and who throws those away? But some nasty rotten stuffs, sure! Also, should be able to find other things like, tarps with holes in them, newspapers to start fires with, crappy clothing, the things BigMike mentioned, lots of stuff could be found in the garbage.

 

I imagine you would have to fight a zombie(s) to get to the garbage... I am sure the smell would attract them and they would be digging around in their themselves. You would also find rats and possibly a bear (if bears are added..), maybe a raccoon?

 

And if ya can drive a garbage truck.. then the device in the back which squishes the garbage to make room for more, it should work. What a way to die eh?

 

What about a street cleaner? That been brought up before?

 

Edit: A garbage might be a place to stash stuff also.

This I don't agree with at all.

 

Animals yes, infected rage zombies, no.

 

That being said the core idea makes perfect sense.

 

I think certain items should be more likely to be in usable condition.

 

Often people throw away clothes that are perfectly usable, including shoes.

 

In a garbage truck or even garbage can there should be at least a miniscule chance for nearly ANY loot.

 

People don't just throw things away in garbage cans, they stash stuff in them too....

I just doubt that zombies would be picky about what they eat.. so anything that has some kind of food smell.. may attract them. Another thing for zombies to do other than wander aimlessly or just stand there. Thus digging in garbage has a risk, aside from other players.

I like the idea of this, would add some more realism to the game. but I wouldnt want guns being in there... possibly gun parts occasionally at best.
