Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

Recommended Posts

I would heed JasonUK's advice and use the money that you save with his adjustments to get a high-end i5 instead of the FX-8350 if possible.

The 8350 would perform really well in games like Crysis 3 that are optimised for it, but an i5 will outperform it in pretty much everything else.

Unfortunately I've already bought the MoBo for it, so I'm gonna have to go AM3+

what would be a good MOBO for dayz mod and SA? and one that supports the i5 and 7 series

That depends on your budget and whether or not you plan on overclocking.

You'll also need to consider what gen your CPU is. Ivy and Sandy Bridge CPUs like the i5 3570 and i7 3770 use the LGA1155 motherboard socket, whilst Haswell CPUs (i5 4670, i7 4770) use the LGA1150 socket.

Also, like mZLY pointed out, if you plan on overclocking, you'll need the correct chipset (Z77 for Ivy / Sandy Bridge, or Z87 for Haswell).

Does anyone know if MSI is a well reputed GPU manufacturer? People are telling me to opt for a MSI GTX780 instead of a Gigabyte GTX780 because of a superior cooling solution.

I've always been under the impression Gigabyte were one of the best manufacturers out there.

Gigabyte, ASUS, EVGA…are all really great brands, MSI is pretty good but I hear their motherboards and GPUs are a little sloppy. l've heard they are still usable though, I'll be getting the G45 motherboard in a bit, should do me fine.

I would seriously doubt it, sorry. Your CPU is very slow and you are running on intergrated graphics, and both of them mean very poor gameplay.

Since the 650 is only 2 cores, you may see some issues there, and the GPU is quite old, and might hurt your frames a little.

You might get ~20 - 30 on normal settings.

I know my pc is low spec, but do you think it would be able to cope with the game on a lower resolution with a lot of tweaking ?

Very, very old. I don't think you'd get to the menu screen with that, sorry.
