Gear weight affects appearence.

Recommended Posts

So, I had an idea regarding backpacks, please read on.

Amount of gear in backpack affects its appearence: So imagine you're only carrying a few pistol mags and some BeanZ, your bakpack should appear small and empty. Say you have 15kg of gear in your bag, it'll appear relatively large, so if a bandit sees you then he'll be less likely to kill you if your pack looks bare, maybe if you have a water botle, it'll appear strapped to your waist, if you have a map, it'll pop out of your vest pouch. If you had a can of fuel, it'll be strapped on your back, if you had a tent, it'd appear rolled-up, attached to your pack.

So yeah, shitty un-detailed idea, just tell me what you think.

Oh, and maybe in the SA if you had a pistol, it'd be tucked into the back of your trousers, and if you had a vest, it'd be stuffed in a pouch

I actually, really support this! It would make the game so much more immersive if you actually saw all your gear.

Maybe if you had a huntin' knife it'd be haning off your belt, and maybe flashlights too.

I've heard Rocket touch on something like this for SA, still a good idea and sounds a bit more in depth than what Rocket said (at the time anyway).  Would be awesome if he makes it the way you're saying.

It would pretty simple to implement I think. Add a skeleton to each backpack and make an 'empty' and 'full' animation. I'm no modeler, but I think that would be the simplest way to implement this. Good idea!!!

I've always wanted my holster to be filled with a sidearm. It's quite stupid that you can sling your gun onto your back and it stays, but the action of holstering your pistol and it disappears is stupid.

I just want to have a Mexican standoff, that's all!

I love this idea!

Not only does it make your character more unique it gives the idiots killing unarmed people on the coast an idea of what they actually have.

I say hoodie and jean pockets should stick out a bit aswell.

There was a game called "silent storm" that had such a thing. The characters had invisible "anchor points" on their uniforms and as you would fill their inventory, the game would automatically try to find objects that match the character's anchor points and display them in the character.

It was mostly grenades, pistols, rifles. Obviously if you have multiple weapons in inventory it would not display all of them.

*Pistol stuck in front of pants*

Is that a gun in your pants or are you just...shit it's a gun!!!!

Good idea but this would need a couple of models per backpack since they are static.

I would like to also see handgun holsters and back rifle/shotgun holsters.

Yep, that would be great.

Either show rifles strapped to bags or slings.

if you don't have a pistol holster ( which should just be a universal item like a rifle sling ), then you should have it tucked into pants.

It is possible to completely hide them inside inventory slots like pants, bag and shirt as always tho.

Holster should have room for handgun cleaning kit and handgun ammo.

Oh and holster should change with the pistol you have, if its a wild western era single action revolver then you get a QuickDraw kinda holster made from leather with a bandoleer on the side and cool hanging down and you draw it like they did in westerns and Omg!... Sorry :(
