Shooting while stationary on a ladder

Recommended Posts

Now you might be thinking, how is this useful? When am I gonna need to shoot horribly inaccurately? Well that's the thing, you mostly don't need to do it. It's just there if you need it. If you're not climbing, you could pull out your handgun by pressing the "aim" key Rocket was talking about.

If you do get into a situation where a guy comes up and is about to shoot you, you wish this was in the game. And if you got zombies below you, you could shoot them too. It should be inaccurate though.

Doesn't sound like a bad idea, maybe with a chance to 'slip' or lose your gripping and fall off?

the boys at bohemia are so busy scrambling to get their network bubble stuff in order for the alpha that they dont have time to mocap new animations for cool stuff like shooting down ladders. sorry buddy, probably aint gonna happen

Not a bad idea, your sights could just sway more I guess.

I don't really see the point of it though (somewhat). When I get on a ladder, I want to get off right quick, so if there's zombies, right back up I go. But I can see how you would want it.

I'm just conflicted about how I feel.

It's not going to be released as a finished product in the first place.

OP didn't say that it has to be in the game during launch, and who are you to say that it's never(ever) going to be implemented?

Though I wouldn't say that it's something that would be put somewhere high on the to-do list.

Yeah, it's not. But there's plenty of other places where you're completely defenseless because of the physics or animations. On a boat for example.

I think this would be pretty annoying. Anyways, most people would rather drop the gun rather than fall to their death.

Not a bad idea though, and a similar idea for boats (as mentioned above), cars, ATVs (stationary or passengers), motorcycles (passengers), etc would be nice if done correctly.

I think let us move around on vehicles, especially boats or back seat of car.

If you can put your head down in a car while driving aswell :D use A+D to slide across the back seat shoot out back window if its broken and also the side windows.

Boats should be more free walk if it accelerates quickly you might fall over, but you should be able to move at most speeds especially along sides while crouching.

Oh oh I almost forgot planes running around C130 cargo hold :) and then barrel roll :D

I like this. Maybe only allowing you to fire secondary weapons and in a hip fire manner. Seriously. You wouldn't want to stay on a ladder for long. You would want to get to the top and get a better shot eh?

It is actually hard to do that. The car wold be moving soyour accuracy is gonna be bad and there's a chance you might shoot yourself if the car hit a bumpor something

It's pretty hard for a gun to do a 180 and then you pull the trigger, I accept t hat is a moving car somebody's accuracy suffers greatly, but that wasn't really my main point.

It was just moving around.

Actually, from my understanding, its a limitation with DayZ's engine that prevents us from simply running around inside of a car, or in the cargo hold of a large plane, or even getting up and walking around the inside of a bus.

The engine has changes for SA which is what I was thinking... Why completely revamp cars without a bit of future proofing engine wise.

Well it's possible, but its still based on the Arma2 Engine (think it's been called Arma 2.5, so unless you can run around in cars in Arma3 kinda doubt that we'll be able to without some MAJOR work on the dev's part)

Well its not like were getting a final release and nothing else will EVER be added to the game once it's released.  Kinda doubt it'll happen either but not just because they're busy with the 'network bubble' (Edit: Thank you Orlok bellow for putting voice to the reason that was on the tip of my tongue).  After all, they have many people working on DayZ, and while I'm sure they have everyone who knows what they're doing working on the network bubble, that's not going to be everyone.  They've still got guys working on the map, working on buildings, working on loot, new clothes, new guns.  Its kinda like when Rocket went to Everest, just because he's gone doesn't mean all work is at full stop.  If this was true we probably wouldn't have bayonets or the recently released pics of the K98 rifle.

Hello there

This seems like an awful amount of work for very small benefit. Im not against it, just I dont see it really being an issue. Also, I would not like to have to climb a ladder whilst holding a rifle.

Rgds
