It's too late For Dayz.

Recommended Posts

So today I discovered that an alpha of a game called Rust has been out in public and guess what? I am pretty impressed. this concept of open world survival FPS is not exclusive to Dayz anymore, and in Rust you can actually build a base using materials you harvested from the environment a thing that won't come to Dayz in a year (if the full version actually comes out by then) and what does Dayz have? a gimmicky radio and a new inventory big freaking whoop....

the standalone is the same as the mod, hell even the zombies still glitch like they did in the mod, I thought this would be eliminated because it's an official game, boy how wrong was I.

The dayz standalone is nothing more then a garage project with a small team and a limited budget and it will never become a "real" game, just an improved mod.

Yup, there's many more in the works too. Some that were predicted to wipe the floor with DayZ have already been released, more are to come, tis the way of the gaming industry. Nothing the DayZ devs can do about it apart from release an awesome game.

If they rushed it, that's the last thing we'd get.

Regarding the zeds etc, it's been explained many times why the development build looks like that, the clue is in the title though. Many animations are just placeholders etc. as are the sounds, when everything is in place it will all come together, until then, yes, it will look buggy and broken - that's what development builds look like.

That is nice. I haven't tried it myself.

Doesn't that game have a forum?

Looks interesting. I think for now though Rocket can still sleep soundly at night. You say DayZ is too late and then try to prove your point by showing a buggy mod in alpha as competition.

Ironic no?

Oh, poor child, you have yet to understand the gaming industry and how it works. It's not about which game releases first that determines which is better. Let me break this down to you, to show you why you are wrong.

•He stated that Rust is going to be nothing like DayZ and the zombies it currently has are just placeholders. (Doesn't even have VOIP).

•He used a pre built engine, unlike the DayZ SA. He didnt have to recode and debug multiplayer, shading, and visual effects.

•He's the maker of Garry's Mod.. Is it a surprise he's focused on building while DayZ SA focuses on PvE/PvP?

•The reason DayZ SA hasn't released/will release without some content is that they want to fine tune mechanics so they work some what well, even for an Alpha. Rust did not do this. The only features not in the game are features he's yet to complete. So saying Rust has more features than DayZ SA is absurd.

Also, DayZ never claimed to be the worlds first open world survival FPS.

Cube World will be better than DayZ SA, it already has weapon customization in it!

DayZ the Mod hits the spot like no other magic. A game that can keep people playing for 18 hour sessions day after day comes once a decade. Imitators want to be World of Warcraft, but they can't. Imitators want to be DayZ, and they never will be. Dean Hall himself, nor any of us, can explain why DayZ worked so perfectly; but it did and still does. It's a wonderful formula that came together just right. If you don't mind a little digression, then I'd like to propose a comment. The standalone may be changing the formula, which may not be a good idea.

Too late for what Dimnzy?

The only too late I see here is Dimnzy. Every comment you make has already been made before. Only difference I see is you needed an excuse to say your piece instead of just spitting it out. Got bored with Rust that quickly did ya?
