Apparently, we're getting a new gear menu UI. Discuss.

Its probably just a random screenshot taken from a non vanilla server with the new gear menu stuck on top, if the player was accessing the gear you wouldn't be able to see his gun at all.

Considering this image was originally posted by Razor, I doubt it. Razor got no reason to give us fake images, as it will only ruin our trust in him.

There is a vehicle in the background, the SA won't have vehicles when first released.

That is why i presumed this is a mod update.

Its a concept image, it was probably made by the artist that designed the new menu to show to Razor, he has then passed this onto us, maybe Razor just didnt have an image to hand showing it in the latest build.

The fact that the gun in the players hands is different to the one in the gear menu should be enough proof of this.

(judging by the colour of the wood i'd say its an M14)

How about the lack of a clothing section the gear menu? Nobody else noticed that? The standalone has a working clothing system, so it HAS to have a UI. The pictures here have nothing of the sort. We've already been shown the gear menu for the SA, so of course this is for the mod.

How about the fact that it was posted by the lead dev of the mod in the rolling changelog for the mod.

But to be fair i dont think anyone was expecting the mod to get a new ui, i'd say that people thinking it was for the standalone is a pretty good compliment to the guys working on the mod.

I don't have a problem with the ArmA 2 inventory to be honest. Being a revamped ArmA 2 engine, I would imagine the SA has the same underpinnings, with a re-skin and the drag-and-drop from in-world feature added.

When I first read the topic I thought this was a new GUI for the standalone, and was initially excited, but isn't R4zor49 just the dev for the mod? I suppose it will make the mod better but it's one more thing the mod does better than the standalone, which is something that Rocket should reflect on.

Is this new GUI for the standalone? If so, then you have my positive comment. If not, then what's the point?

Its for the mod, The point is it was necessary to redesign the old arma 2 ui in order to add the 'carrying' section.

OFF TOPIC: I've actually read some interesting articles about businesses not hiring English speakers in some regions (S. Korea was one of them, off the top of my head, and this case study examined English teachers and their accents) because they didn't have an American accent (specifically, the "accent-less American dialect of the Midwest).

Oh, I must apologise. I did not at all think to realise what it was for, the mod or the Standalone.

It can be spelled as either, though often "American English" spellings are used in place of British spellings in a multinational environment due to the American dialect being the preferred dialect to be taught abroad (though obviously not in Commonwealth countries etc.) due to it's use as the standardized "trade language" in much of the world (SE Asia and Europe especially).

Do you imagine the Chinese, Japanese and even Europeans teaching how to speak like an American? I have lived in Germany for long enough to see how English is taught here, and students are taught to spell in correct English.

Personally I like the drag and drop of the DayZ SA inventory better. What makes you like this more? It seems a lot more clunky.

I like this better because it looks better, to be frank. Drag and drop is an essential step in the right direction... but there's no reason that a game framework couldn't make a drag and drop system out of the image in the original post -- or ArmA2's, or any other of the dozens and dozens photoshop works presented to Rocket.

ok so most may have seen the fort and are wondering why the ui is showing a different weapon.

Its pretty simple the original image has another concept added and the the ui has been dropped on top.

We wont be providing any info about the fort for now.
