SA: Medic & Code of Conduct

Recommended Posts

Could we please have arm patches in SA?

f.e. a medic patch/badge.

also maybe medic stickers (f.e. for backbags)

maybe we the community could agree on something more general like a basic dayz code of conduct:

  • Try not to shoot medics on sight.
  • If you are dressed as or in any other form signal to be a medic, you should not act otherwise to other people
  • If you witness somebody not sticking to these simple code of behaviour, you should see him as a bandit and therefore act unto him like that.

I know this is a bit naive, but maybe some of the core dayz player will willingly try to stick to this.

I for one already always act like that, even if there are no visual markings in the mod yet.

What do you think of that?

edit:

After all, people stick to this also in some real war situations.

and also some don't.

I think we maybe could have some people , who already try to play as friendly players, make it happen.

I think of it as something honourable among those who do it.

Those scattered few, who still try to uphold a bit of humanity in these dark times of mankind.

And yeah, after all, this is a simulation of an apocalypse, so let's see if this experiment will also bring about something like this. (If there are items who support this idea, like medic badges)

Or you can shoot the medic for all of his antibiotics, disinfectant, and vaccines.

yes.

and if somebody witnesses this he could stick to point 3.

you see, each of these points backs up the other.

I don't think there would be a CoC in a apocalypse.

Maybe after fixing up a dozen people you would unlock a Med Kit Alice Pack !

Moving to suggestions,,,because it's worth looking at.

For a lot of people, seeing a medic arm patch could be reason enough to approach that player. Sure it could backfire a few times but being able to show yourself as a medic would be quite interesting.

Impossible..most PKers don't even try to identify their target before they shoot, they just shoot indiscriminately. And identifying someone through a scope ( in most cases you don't see enough details in the game anyway ) is nearly impossible. A medic surrounded by players would be good bait for KoS players since everyone will let their guard down. It's always been like that, present a target to players who think of a game as kil everyone on sight game will not let the opportunity slip.

well, let's just give it a try!

a simulation is always also an experiment.

  • As a medic do not discriminate (Real life Red Cross Rule)

Yes definitely with the arm patches. I want custom ones for my gang to use. And with the red rule if bandits know they will get healed by medics as medics don't discriminate then It may tone down KoS.

This is not supposed to fight banditry, of course most bandits would shoot a medic on sight, but most of the paranoid people (including me) would not shoot someone with a medic badge or a medic alice pack. Beans to boneboys, I would love to see a medic backpack. That would also help with the problem that you can't see a badge from far away because you definitely could see the backpack. But please, for the love of god, they shouldn't be random loot because then every bandit could dress up as a medic. It should be an achievement vor patching people up and you shouldn't be able to loot it from a medic's corpse.

Not going to lie but I would have a hard time trying not to shoot the medic, there would be no incentive for me to let him/her live.If I was a medic I would make the person drop everything before I even thought about healing them.

it won't be as much KoS as it is now.

Why?

Because:

.)Guns much more rare

.)Military stuff even rarer

.)Ammo also really rare, you'll think twice about every bullet you spend

.)much more complex possible complications you can run into when engaging a firefight

.)much more complex game mechanics that bring the need to cooperate with others, f.e. the medic stuff.

.)complex diseases, you can't always carry around ALL the medical equipment you need to cover EVERY possible disease. So you need to also meet with others and exchange.

.)much more people on the map, but also scattered more about the whole map (because of also interesting things in the north)

.)this way you can't never feel alone again, giving shots also in small towns is too risky that others could hear it.

.)more ways to communicate, be it more hand signals, or the radios, or other new features.

that's just SOME of the new factors that come into play

KoS will remain the same until there is a REALLY good reason not to , and even then ...

Equipment and loot scarcity has nothing to do with it , it has to be something else that people simply can not achieve without help .

The medic patch would have to be something earned not found i do believe after X amount of aiding players.. you know what I'm going to say... If its earned than a player is more likley to be a legitimate first aid friend in the field and not an idiot pretending to be a medic to ambush you
