Do you just kill anyone you don't know?

Recommended Posts

Depends on if my Mic is working that day

earlier this morning on Balota Buddies I was walking in the middle of no where and some guy on a quad zooms past me I opened up fire immedialty because he scared me shitless

it all depends on the situation

I've been watching my friend play Dayz and whenever he see someone he close he hides and all through the mic:I've got an AS-50 Aiming at your head, surrender or join me or your dead. But he just lies he just has a makarov and 2 rounds.

From my experience its kill or be killed, I've tried to be friendly so many times and just get shot at, so I gave up on being friendly until SA comes out :)

Trust no one. Avoid everyone. Team with people you know in real life that wouldn't betray you.

I don't.

reasoning: Why waste bullets to kill someone who is no threat to me atm?why give away my position for some beans?

...and the fact that i just don't like KOS

No.

I once took a shot from a DMR at a guy at NE AF from the bushes. He said he didn't know if the glass in the tower broke by glitch or by shot and that he had the shit scared out of him. Watched him for 30 minutes afterwards. Later told him that It was me and that his fear was enough. After a while we trolled a guy into coming to the AF. I said something and some guy thought I was there so me and him led him to believe I was and then the guy I watched killed him then let me loot his body.

Saw a group of 4 running out of prigi to the east. Took a shot in there general direction for the lulz and ran.

Once teamed up with 5 people randomly. Played with one of them a few times after that.

I have not killed anyone since I started playing dayz. I thought I did once but to my to my delight it turned out to be an A.I.

Well, I've been playing more and more, and I've noticed one potentially huge thing that is causing all this PvP. I play quite a few zombie games, such as COD BO2 zombies and Left 4 Dead 1 + 2, and I noticed that it takes a long long time for zombies to kill you. Like you can get surrounded by 5 zombies and it takes them a minute to kill you if you just stand there. I was really surprised at this actually, since in other zombie games I'm used to dying in only a couple hits. I know DayZ isn't COD BO2, but perhaps if they made the zombies significantly more powerful or somehow made the environment more difficult, it would force players to work together instead of killing each other.

I've tried to be the good guy, but I've only gotten shot at. I say friendly friendly and run away, and get chased. Lately as I've gotten better, the only danger I really fear is other players, not zombies, which is kind of the opposite of what the game should be about IMO.

Yeah in the last patch we saw more people working together even if it was only to bloodbag each other

In other game modes like dayz+ when it was popular, most people I came across were friendly enough

Dayz is only worth playing at the moment if your a bandit seeing as the environment struggles to kill you even when you let it

Harder zombies do help somewhat with this, I've seen it many times

I kill anyone I don't know if they have a gun. There's a general consensus that if you don't know someone, there's like an 80% chance that you'll be killed by them. Of course statistics and percentages in this case (that 80% was just off the top of my head by the way) are just an example of the Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy, but when you're facing those odds psychology doesn't particularly matter...

For example, I once met up with someone after typing in side chat. He claimed that he had no weapon, which was true. Once we found a revolver for him, he walks around the corner and lights me up with it.

In the end, I don't think people should antagonize others that kill anyone on-sight. You're taught by DayZ sooner or later that trusting people you don't know is generally a bad choice. Now, people that go out of their way to kill others I can understand your antagonizations. But other than that, this topic is discussed ad nauseum, at least in my opinion.

Ive only killed one person in DayZ and that was because He made me do it. I was at the top level of a fire house and he comes up the stairs sees me and fires at me, I fire back with my winchester and he retreats down the stairs. I drop to the floor and try to talk to him over chat telling him Hes got an open path, take it. No harm no foul. I wait for a bit and of course he sticks his head up a couple times, sees my winchester aimed at him and ducks back down. He wont respond and finally comes barging up the stairs. I had to put him down.

Its hard to not KOS but I just don't want to be a bandit. Im hoping SA has many incentives for people to work together, or at least to think about it before blasting away everytime you see someone.

Thats the number one thing I think SA has to address. Have enough things to do, have enough incentive to work with people...so that people dont get bored and play a zombie survival game as a deathmatch.

Usually my group avoids people, if we see a solo person running about we might help them. But if we have a car we kill anyone on site because too many times we have had people try to carjack our ride.

Not to mention still alot of punks out there using esp

This game is all about survival.

I would say I shoot 90% of players I see without a seconds thought. I see a player then I switch to hunter mentality. I put all my efforts into the kill.

Others who have made me lol or just seem like decent people then I will still shoot them but I just won't enjoy it the same. Once I just broke a players leg and bandaged him because he was ok. I kept his car.

If it's not in my Teamspeak, it's dead.

sometimes if it's in my teamspeak too tbh

Easy to blame it on an imaginary player.

My personal rules of thumb are.

1 be friendly when you spawn be friendly when you loot but for fucks sake I just found range finders, AS 50 and ghillie suit why would I trust you???

2 elctro and cherno are safe zones don’t kill people other than the bloody snipers, heli crash sites, NW airfield and cars/helis of any kind are myn I don’t care if you are driving it

3 if you are in a group of people with good kit and you meat a group of people with good kit clan warfare is all the goods

I don't kill only unarmed and my friends. :) I like to be bandit. When I play dayz a lot without killing I start to feel need to kill, like a serial killer, which is a bit worrying :)

But I got to admit this wasn't the case for the first moths of dayz. I just like the challenge of it, when I see a group of high skill players, I don't run, I try to kill them all. And when I do, I got a huge rush of dopamine in my blood, which makes me feel good till the end of a day.

I don't see why people have to conform to your playstyle.

I kill people within 300 meters, because at that distance they could be a threat and give away my position.

If my squad comes across someone with gear or supplies we need, we kill them. We are an un-friendly squad, it is how we enjoy playing.

If someone is to get on dayz and then be ridiculed by people like you on how they have fun, AND be playing legit withous hacks.... well, maybe it is you that should get off regular DayZ.

When I play Halo multiplayer, I like to snipe. Maybe you like to go in guns blazing. Should I stop playing Halo? No, we just have different ways we like to play the game.

I've been off it for months.

When I said "you have got to" I mean, if it's really still like this, then it's no longer a simulation of the apocalypse. As I have said in probably a hundred posts, you don't go shooting at someone you don't know, ever.

But what do I know?

So we don't agree on what the "right" way to play DayZ is. Enjoy yourself. I prefer to not KOS because I can make a stronger case against it, every time.

Now, if the dynamics of the game have changed to where that is no longer a viable option, (ie: people respawning and running toward gunfire with a makarov to hopefully score a better weapon) then the game has strayed too far from the funzone for me.

Anyone who agrees should absolutely get off vanilla DayZ. If not, stick with it and enjoy yourself.

It's the norm, but as long as you stay smart and think fast you can avoid being a murderer.

There's no point in trying to communicate or help people nowadays, it just gets you killed 90% of the time.

I try to avoid people as best as I can, but if they see me, I'm going to try and kill them as best as I can.

I´m trying to avoid other people, rather run away than shoot when they see me but if I have not shoice

I fight back. When I see a bandit I shoot without hasitation.
