Dayz for Xbox One?

Recommended Posts

Well, there's also the Action Menu, aiming as well as holding breath, PgUp and PgDn for zeroing, Map, Nightvision, Binoculars, Vault, Walking, Lowering weapon, Leaning (A way of communicating friendliness for a lot of people), Switching Fire Modes, Opening Gear, Freelook, and a few others that aren't as necessary and would probably have to be removed.

If you can get everything important on a controller though, fine by me. I'd still choose a keyboard and mouse.

I've used the Xbox controller on Day Z, just to test it out. The game wasn't designed to be used with a controller so it wasn't very optimized. I could play all those things, the only problem was trying to find a balance of keys (and I didn't know how to use the key mapper very well) to convert controls when getting into different types of vehicles and then being on foot.

I'm just amazed at how people think that they keyboard has so many keys that a console controller cannot handle it. You aren't using all those keys, and there are a ton of key combinations for the controller as well.

My only wish for bohemia when DayZ would come to console is to license the game title. If they start working on it themselves DayZ WILL be held back by consoles. They should always keep PC as their main development platform. With that said the x86 architecture of the consoles would allow for such a development process. However many many game developers have lost their quality when they started developing for console ( Crytek, DICE, Ubisoft, and many more). I think bohemia interactive has huge potential if they only keep things clean. Publish their own games, choose realistic graphics above "flashy" graphics, stick to PC as the most stable gaming platform.

That's what most people don't get. Consoles will hold back the game development again and again. This has been for 8 years and this might be the case for at least the next 5 years because you can never get the a game that is supposed to run on PC specs 5 years in the furure on a console that was built today without a lot of sacrifices. With console view distance settings even i can run ArmA 2 on my rig on ultra.

You already need 3 buttons for previous action, next action and perform action, with ArmA it's not just press "x" to do this and that. I have an old 6 button pad so i actually have 2 buttons more than your standard XBox PS controller and that still isn't enough to satisfy my need for buttons. And i'd like to see someone trying to choose the correct action when he is attacked while in a car, often enough my buddies die because someone crashed the vehicle into an obstacle and they have to scroll +lmb to get out but in the meantime the vehicle goes up in flames while i just ctrl-g or ctrl-e to get out and i don't even scroll to switch from primary to secondary because i also have a hotkey for that...hotkeys are quite good but the limited amount of buttons a pad has it's practically impossible to bind all those.

DayZ is being developed solely as a PC game. It's not going to be multi-platform ready until it's out of beta and ready for a port.

It'd be easy enough to map an eject/dismount button.

You can map an 8-direction D-pad as modifiers. (giving you 9 times as many buttons) All it takes is a little bit of thought.

EDIT: Obviously a console port won't be using xpadder ( ^_^) but you can do this for the mod (or any PC game) easily.

EDIT2: Think I read your post wrong. Fixed it a bit.

I am already using the D-pad for a number of vehicle related actions. f.e. landing gear down/up, flaps down/up, unbotton/button up etc. lucky i can use the same key for some commands...still not enough. I need a pad with a felt 50 buttons. And it's quite easy to press the wrong direction ( by 45° ) on a D-pad in a hectic...*press* ooops. xxx was killed...

Yeah, a slight fuckup could be pretty serious in certain circumstances.

I've always had alternate profiles for flying/driving whenever I end up using a gamepad. Switching on the fly, as needed.

Console versions of games use that quite often.

Speaking of.

That's another drawback. PS/Xbox games very rarely get custom controller configuration.

Occasionally you'll get half a dozen or so profiles to pick from, but I'm pretty picky about how my games handle.

To be honest I'm kind of a racist against consoles.. i hate seeing my favorite multiplayer games on consoles being butchered by noobs and children. Everything about console is to casual lets just let them have their platformer and sport games and keep the real games up to the pc gaming master race

Oh god no, didn't go well for Mojang(ruined half of their community with noobs). Definately won't go well for Rocket.

A big problem is the amount of buttons needed for such a game.

A lot.

Not really. At all.

Two of the trigger buttons, or even one, could be used as a function button to modify any of the others. I don't know how many buttons you use to play with but it's not really THAT many.

Anyway, the consoles are nothing but branded PCs as this point. I don't see why they'd have to do much of anything to make it "fit".

The fuck are you talking about? Didn't go well for Mojang!? It made Minecraft soooo much more popular. It beat CoD for most people playing online. Minecraft. Beat. CoD. Didn't go well for Mojang...pffffft.

Besides, community means nothing. Like I said before, it's all about money. All of you assholes have to stop being elitist. It shows how bad of a person you are. How sad of a human being you are.

Minecraft XBLA sold over a Million copies (around $20 / £13 a pop) in 5 days.

Yeah, Mojang must have been gutted.

RE: community. The same happened to the Minecrafters as has happened in this topic.

The elitists didn't like it, but they couldn't give a factual or sensible reason why.

In reality they don't like it because they like to think they're superior.

The "PC master race" essentially consists of gamers (folks who play on PC) taking credit for other's work. Like sports-fans with their "We kicked your ass", who were never even on the field.

When you yourself innovate and create more powerful computing hardware, THEN you can boast. Until you do, you're just a consumer like everyone else.

EDIT: That might warrant a move to the "ranting" thread.

Sorry, but constantly hearing about how "console gamers are immature", as a childish act of one upmanship, really grates on me.

I was actually very upset when I bought Minecraft for the xbox instead of PC

Because its 100 times better on the PC

It doesn't matter if it's better on one than the other. It's the whole thing with elitism, and the fact that PC gamers don't want to lose anything, even if it would help them. Besides, the only difference is different version and controls. That's it. That's literally it. Texture packs and mods aren't necessary to have a good time, so don't even bring that up

I've been saying for years about how much gamers have changed. Games are supposed to be fun. Whatever platform you choose, it is absolutely amazing the kind of shit we have now a days. Why do we have to be so damn petty? Play your damn games and have fun. Be thankful for the technology allowing us to play them. The PS3 and Xbox 360 had an amazing run. It blows my mind how much they were able to do with such old tech.

I guess the innocence of gaming has been lost. We are all just a bunch of fan boys eating away at what it means to be a gamer in the first place.

Yeah it's gonna happen probably with in the next 3 years. However, like others have said it will be very dumbed down, especially if it is given to another company to develop. The map will probably be cut down, less controls, and in general different. It may not even be the dayz we know now, it could just be some nock off zombie game with a few of the original features and mechanics, but called Dayz. I don't care though I'm staying PC.

Who cares about mature players? It's all about the money, not players

I was talking the gameplay not the money it is against what dayz is.

I don't think you understand what this thread is for. It's the Xbox One. Not Xbox 360. The tech inside the xbox One is such an upgrade. The Xbox360 had 512mb of Ram. Xbox One has 8Gb of ram. See the LARGE difference. I don't know what else is in the Xbox 360 but i can only imagine it's old ass shit that to be honest did amazing for what was actually inside it. So please remember IT'S A NEXT GEN CONSOLE it is probably on par with a Mid way gaming PC which can easily play Dayz. So please read the thread's name before you try and make it look like the new consoles are shit. Thanks.

Also thanks everyone who actually commented with something other than 'PC Master race' Or 'Xbox1 is shit'. I can see many draw backs of the console controller but it can be done.

xbox 1's marketing was shit, amd cpu's aren't excellent for cpu intensive games from seeing people whine about planetside 2 (a very cpu intensive game no point playing without an intel cpu).

Pc doesn't earn companies enough money for example when you buy a xbox from Microsoft you need to buy a controller from Microsoft.

What is going in the 'next-gen' consoles is good enough.

ALIENWARE is one of the many barriers between the pc and console market, They must die.

The kind of people that buy a console are the kind of people who don't like having to actually try and do something no matter the amount of money they lose.

not really replying to you that much just ranting.

would love the idea because consoles offer fairer conditions to the players. everyone with the same hardware and its almost hack free.

alsmost because there may be some bug abuses

At what point did I say I was talking about the 360? I was talking about the next gen consoles, and no the next gen consoles are like a low end PC. Sure they have good ram and a decent processor but their graphics card is nothing to write home about. So to make the game playable the console dayz would be dumbed down. Also i am not a pc elitist I said that I would stick to my PC not that one was better. Plus i agreed with you in that dayz is coming to consoles. Why are your panties in such a knot? I don't think that will happen. Console communities would absolutely destroy the game. Plus I don't think the game deserves a place on console, it should stay PC.

EDIT: and like was said above, there wouldn't be enough buttons.

you are living in a deluded bubble the amount of money this will generate on consoles is massive it will be on the consoles guarenteed. there are articles aswell saying this.

the new consoles are basically pcs anyway they just play on joypads. so all that will probably be different is the way they access items and such .

Not. Even. Close.

Plus, this won't generate as much money as you think. DayZ is played by the PC community, therefor releasing it on console wouldn't generate as much revenue as it would on PC. Not to mention how horrible it would play on console, as consoles can't handle that kind of graphics, on that big of a map, etc.

Not to mention how horrible it would be to play on a controller, as DayZ had a crazy amount of buttons, and to implement that on console it would result in dozens of "combos" which would be tedious and stupid.

I personally feel releasing DayZ on console, would be like releasing Counterstrike (though I heard CS:GO is on console), World of Warcraft, and ArmA on console, it just doesn't belong.
