I know this is a hotly debated topic but i wanted to bring up some good points.

-dayz gun play, it's weakest point (thanks ARMA 2). the bullet travel time is an issue. Not saying its bad i like it but it has issues. I was playing and a guy walked up to me and started swinging his crowbar. So i shoot him with my AK-74, the travel time within 5 meters is litteraly nothing and my PC is fast s the shot happened immediatly but it took about 1/4 to 1/2 of a second for the round to hit him. A real Issue

-Styles. If dayz had gunplay like Call of Duty it would be a whole different experience, people would need no skill to shoot anyone and this seperates the good from the bad.

-Snipers. Wind should be a factor. you can hear it in game so why does it not have an impact? Within 400 meters it wouldn't really make a difference but around 800 you would need a wind guage. Possibly something to add.

Well that is my rant. Comment with you own suggestoins.

The "bullet time" you are referring to is not how long it takes for the bullet to reach the target, rather a lag in the server. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think that is what it is. And also, the wind thing I agree with. I play Arma 2 with ACE a good bit and it adds a new level so to speak to the game. I think it should be looked at being implemented in the future.

There have been some people complaining about the time of flight issues but there shouldn't be anything as bad as you're describing... like Jordan said it's probably server lag.

As for wind drift, keep your fingers crossed: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/130854-wind-and-ballistics-system/

As jordan said the bullet delay is most likely server lag as at that range the hit should be pretty much instant.

And as far as wind is concerned, they are already working on it for the mod

COD is a shit game. Don't bring it here. THIS IS A WAR SIMULATOR. Not an FPS mac-n-cheese. This game seperates the wheat from the chaff. So no COD references whatsoever. The shitty mechanics can stay with Inshitiny ward and gayarch.

Server lag and prolly the death lag that is in the game since some patch... And please don't compare ArmA to any of those modern Military shooters even if they are fun to play if you turn off logic... Shooting in ArmA 2 is not point and click "CoD and BFstyle".

Wow, people get so enraged when you even mention Call of Duty... They're just video games, people.

Back on topic, wind affecting bullets would be nice.

You mentioned it taking skill to shoot anyone if the gunplay was like CoD. It probably enraged him that you fail to see how absolutely wrong that statement is. CoD has a run of the mill point and click way to its shooting. It's not shooting it's just pointing and clicking your mouse. ArmA2 comes infinitely closer than CoD to actual marksmanship, even though I can tell you from experience it's still a long shot since in the end, you use a mouse (eg. hand and wrist) to aim and not your entire body.

CoD style gameplay eliminates the need for any "skill" apart from pointing and clicker faster than the next guy. In dayz you will need to bring a lot more than that.

Really? Well, then how do I get beat 25 to 0 every time I play?

The implication that COD requires no skill is stupid. It's an arcadey shooter with a veneer of tactical gameplay, yes. But don't go disparaging other games just because you don't like them

It's like a Formula One racer saying there's no skill involved in Nascar.

Well let's say both need a different type of skill. But if one sucks at CoD then you are a bad player... CoD has absolutly no ballistics whatsoever, less realistic movement ( i say bunny hopping and dolphin diving plus the perks that allow you to shoot through 10 walls ) and you only need fast reflexes. Without skill reflexes only don't help you at all in ArmA. And bullet drop as well as wind would already affect a bullet's trajectory way before it would reach the 400m mark.

Because you're playing against a bunch of people gacked out on Adderall and the matchmaking is broken for you for some reason.

Good Lord, the OP said he didn't want CoD-like ballistics.

1) Please read before posting.

2) Back on topic please, guys.

-Its up to the servers.. Not the game... =)

-Well, then we are lucky that we dont have such a "style" in dayz nor arma series ? =)

-There is already a mod for this kind of an implementation, as an example of which;

What sense does the underlined text make in your eyes? I bet most read what i read, too, but i didn't rage like them... Needing skill to score a hit is what's ArmA about unlike quickscoping CoD/BF. Yes he praised sniping but the previous sentence made him a target to others... Edited by Enforcer

Dawww little kitty, here have a friskie,

I think his 'good point' was that DayZ should NOT have COD-like gunplay. It's no big deal if you misread what he said and don't agree with what you thought you read, just don't make an entire reply that is just about how much you hate a certain game franchise. The guy mentions COD once, not even complimenting it, and now the majority of the replies in this thread are just arguments about a series of completely different video games that the OP was just using as an example.

In conclusion, the OP did bring up some good points, so let's discuss them instead of worry about some other games that some people seem to strongly dislike.

I think that one of my biggest issues with DayZ gunplay is currently the health system. I really don't care for the way that a person can take 10 rounds from a pistol in the torso, or pretty much anywhere else for that matter, and sprint away like it's no big deal.

Are you for real?

The gunplay is the only thing, if any that makes the arma engine special.

Its fine they way it is. The only change I would want is to make it even more realistic.
