Hotfix Build 1.7.1.4 Rolling Update (was 1.7.1.3)

All mele weapons I equip appear to be invisible in my inventory ?

I can take one from a tent for example which shows the axe leave my tent but they then vanish.

It returns back to my tent if I equip a pistol ?

(Have tested on many updated servers all same result)

I assume I simply need an inventory wipe but starting new character didn't fix it nor did emptying my shizzle into a tent so perhaps it has to be done by you Rocket.

Love the update personally.

Food and drink are available but perhaps not quite as readily as before.

Starting without weapon makes for some very tense situations.

Was in the process of checking the deer stands at the southern Airstrip but got interupted by 2 guys running in with a trail of zeds in tow.

Zeds stopped at the gates but the 2 guys basically ran at me weilding friggin axes lol. I got chopped to pieces after doing a few laps while screaming like a girl !

Zeds didn't seem much tougher to me. They still die to one AKM shot to the body. They hurt me more now if they are left to beat on me but so they should.

The only negatives i took from hours of gameplay last night would be the changes to the noise/vision systems.

I feel like I have less ability to sneak, despite trying damn hard, no one wants to have to prone crawl everywhere.

Running/ be it crouch run or sprint: concrete roads shoots your sound and vision levels up to max so whats the point of crouch run ?

it just didn't feel right :/

Quickly too have you altered anything with distant gun sounds in the last week(s) I find it more and more difficult to distinguish if a gunshot has come from my left or right. Winchester is particularly mullfed sound which just seems to eminate from everywhere rather than the direction it was fired from. (This could just be something I messed up at my end and don't know it I guess.)

zeds are very (O.P) they can spot you from like 150m away that is ridiculous!?:(

PLEASE NOTE:

The majority of bugs posted' date=' which I just dedicated an hour of my life to researching, are because server admins have not installed the 1.7.1.3 (there is no server 1.7.1.4) files.

If you run the server on an old version you're gonna have a bad time. There is not currently any way for the clients (you guys) to tell if a server is running old code. But the vast swathe of bugs reported here are because server owners need to ensure they update dayz_server.pbo and not just update all the other files because its easier or because they think 1.6.0.1 was rad.

Don't know if this was suggested yet, but maybe make a thread in Dayz Info that lists the servers plus which update they have?

Thats exactly what I wanted to point at, too. Spawning at the beach near a village or a town is terrible, because I can´t see through that hill and I have to prone right after spawning, to not get aggro from the zeds. That´s very annoying.

The rest seems fine to me ... ok some bugs, but it´s ok, it´s still Alpha.

I've been reading pieces of this thread and played last night, as much as I am an advocate of difficult and rewarding games, I think the zombie spotting/hearing range is too high.

A zombie is not an intelligent creature, it has no way to distinguish a player from another zombie at the range that they currently aggro, if they were aggro'd by footsteps they would run at other zombies and you'd end up with crowds of them roaming about (which might be a great thing to implement going forward).

In my opinion if they hear slight footsteps (crouched, not running), they should shuffle towards the sound and if they spot you at a certain range i.e. around 10-15 meters, then they should aggravate. Because I believe this is around the range they would be able to "smell" that you have non-rotting delicious flesh to eat. Zombies in this mod are not gifted with the amount of visual and auditory prowess that a rotting creature should have.

The game isn't playable atm.

Respawn with no weapon + 1 step = 40 zombies

Hatchet still bugged: Logged in today, Hatched lost all its "ammo" my character was bleeding and cought although his temp was 42 ...

downgrading to 1.7....

Zombies are far, far, FAR too sensitive right now.

Crouch-walking will aggro zombies through walls hundreds of metres away, no joke.

[sTRANGE]

[bUG] Standing zombie model blinking over dead zombies corpse. (Military zombie' date=' Kamenka Airstrip).

[DISBALANCE'] Is it realistic that the guy I killed (self-defense) took ~6 chest hits from my AKM ? I am quite sure for the number of hits (I might boast, but I am good at shooting things.).

Yes saw Zeds appear&instantly vanish over their dead brothers too.

Also about the damage to players, I shot a guy many times with my M4 before he finally died. He was quite near me, maybe 50 meters and even if I have missed round or two, he still ate like 5-6 bullets to body before finally dying....strange.

Today I tried crouch walk on grass (no run), and I see a zed from approx 150 meters running towards me.

Nowadays, most of the time i just no longer care for sneaking, I just sprint through the towns, playing chase with zombies. I know i can loose them in the buildings. This has taken away the tension (will i be spotted or not)

The too sensitive vision/hearing has broken the sneaking mechanic. But i think the problem is in the noise level that run/walk/crouch makes.

I love the no weapon part of the update.

My biggest gripe now is humanity, I died a few times last night, to players killing me when I wasn't even armed with any loot, just for the hell of it.

I think the heartbeat idea is a great start, but it doesn't prevent players sneaking up on you and killing you when looting. I'd like a system similar to the flies around dead bodies, your heart beats louder the closer a person with low humanity gets. The beating faster mechanic could still be used if their humanity is really low. The sound just gets louder the closer they get. This would make you aware of people sneaking up on you, or even just in the area, and will probably add a lot of tension, if they are close, where exactly are they etc. Obviously, people with low humanity wouldn't have this system, or a very nerfed version.

Also, to help this along, I'd like the humanity meter to breifly appear when you respawn, the same way the location does now, so at least you have a little bit of clue to how evil you are.

Other than that, love the new fix, zombies aggro to easily at the moment, and spawn way to quickly, but thats been covered enough already.

From a few hours yesterday trying out latest update my opinions are;

*zeds have super duper hearing/vision which was a big pain and aggro way too quickly but nothing to be bothered about so much by running backwards and h/s them when they stop to attack,

*hatchets. Yes something that has been mentioned a tonne already. To me i am not overly bothered with a melee weapon in the game as i was happy with the hatchet being a tool for chopping wood in the forests and not going all last of the mohicans on the zeds/survivors ass. Luckily i had found 2 wood piles in my course of gameplay last night along with a fat cow which took 3 g17 bullets to down(the finisher was right in the ringpiece) so didn't go short of some cooked meat.

*food and drink spawns seem to be a little less then before (Food mainly) which seems pretty cool. Just means being more careful when to eat and what to carry now.

*server stability seemed fine also. No lagging/disconnecting in the 3-4 hours i was on it so no complaints there. I also started with all my gear as i know people were saying they lost all theirs so that was a relief. Didn't have a hatchet but what the hell i can live without it for now. Just glad i kept me g17 and m16a2 /w ugl

didn't see much else to report other then that as i was going between towns in the middle/northern regions and was at one point waiting for some dude i was watching to come out of a house after prawning a load of zeds. Checked after 20 mins waiting only to find he eithr dc'd or had been plonked in sea/forest as his civvie clothing was on floor.

p.s forgot to add i came across a bike and tractor within touching distance of each other so made my evening. Push bikes are quality!

i encountered somthing weird. I was in Cherno or Elektro. pretty sure it was cherno. i was searching the northern part of the city for supplies in the apartments and i searched about 4 buildings. i didnt encounter a single zombie. i looked around and didnt see any on the streets or anywhere and before that i was traveling through small villages and gas stations, the entire time only seeing one zombie in the gas station after about 2 other places.

im not complaining just thought you should know :P

Not sure if someone one has asked yet slack to read thru 66 pages with half of it bitching but is there anyway to get around the barb wire fence that we can now put up because people seem to like blocking off whole houses with it and it doesnt even stop zombies just checking thanks

The zombies all probably saw or heard someone crouch running at NW airfield and went to get him ;)

I found very easy kill the zeds with the crowbar, veeery easy , u can keep the distance and hit them from 2-3 meters and dont even touched me never. Also i shit myself with zombie sounds looking very close to me but the in fact they are far from me.

I often wonder if the people saying "i lost my gear and spawned on the coast" are just folks who died due to a new mechanic and are trying to get their gear back...

Awesome fixes, but at this moment the "zombies" are hyperparanormal, überzombies I would say.

They can see you from over 20 meters even when sneaking and after one zombie has seen you, ALL the surrounding zombies aggro too, so after that you end up running away from dozen of zombies.

They have hearing and sense of smell of dogs, sight of eagle, and they run like Usain Bolt.

I buyed the game for the patch yesterday and now i have to play this stupid patch.

Zombies see you 150meters away and it doesnt care if you are invisible or silenty. Its just stupid. I dont play this shit until its fixed.

Its NOT playable!

While I appreciated the dedication Rocket has put to this' date=' he's trying to fix what's not fucking [b']broken. The visibility and audibility systems worked fucking fine, but no, let's go full steam ahead and plunge the player base in a way to difficult feature.

...which is EXACTLY what an alpha is for; trying out new, wild ideas and seeing what work, with the help of your alpha testers (you and me). Beta is where you fix the things you have decided should remain. You either have to grow some patience, or go away and quit whining about things out of our controls.

Also, being rude is the best way to get Rocket (and everyone else) to ignore you. You know, like in real life.

JEEZ, what's with this sense of entitlement? You didn't buy anything from Rocket or any Dayz developer, you bought ARMA2:OA, which is an excellent game in its own right. If THAT didn't work, you would have cause to bitch about how you paid for it, but the mod developers owe you jack shit.
