Face up to what you have done.

Recommended Posts

So, some of you might have read my story of betrayal on another thread, but the short version is, after hanging with a guy for 2-3 hours, he turns, shoots me in the back and takes my gear, logs out.

My immediate plan was so go and seek revenge, kill him, and throw in a tea bag for good measure.

But I realized my search would be meaningless as the odds are, he will just go and change his in game name, and I will never find him again.

So my hope is that in the SA, the name you pick, you are stuck with. So people are able to hunt down those that have wronged them.

Has anyone got any comments on this subject, or has it been covered before am I have missed it?

I think this has been discussed more or less before. I think name changing is a good thing if I wanted to spend 800 microsoft points to be steak and potatoes vs steak and mash I would play xbox

You should be able to change your name.. but not your face.. that said.. I think that the standalone should have Mass Effect levels of face customisation

How about your character can have an ID card/wallet on him (this is what you can use to identify kills). So you can only change the name when your current character dies.

Oh yeah, please restricts me. Fix me forever be the same. Your new life has no connection to your last life. Not wanted, sorry. Each life, one Name is OK for me. Edited by NoCheats

See this topic for further exploration of the idea and better reasoning for the inclusion of perma-identity.

It's not a perfect suggestion, but it does go into good detail.

The GUID you use is constant, so there are means to keep tabs on individuals if such features are required and introduced.

It shouldn't be seen as a tool for butthurt vigilantes, but a way for everyone to have the potential to be memorable and identifiable.

An identity should be unique to a player and long-term, used for recognition based on reputation and renown, whether for good or bad actions.

No Hero/Bandit skins will mean an increased requirement to judge players individually. Which is good for the game-experience.

Recognition simply requires that a player maintain their ID (as is the case in nearly every MMO AFAIK) instead of changing their name and face to hide their intentions and avoid being rumbled.

I like the changeable names although nowadays I always go by my forum name.

The problem with a static name is that I might want to change it one day... and what about the guy who goes by Tickleberry but finds to his horror that someone else has taken the Tickleberry name before him?

What's he supposed to do, try to buy the name? Go as T1ckleberry?

Nay, I say.

I've never had a problem with the changing names. There are some people I'd like to hunt but we'd soon see a Chernarus with far more names that have xXs and random integers added to the ends...

People who frequently switch names to avoid rage don't have balls.

Imo the kill message should be removed anyway...

Yep, kill messages should be removed and the body inspection system should be improved.

I'm not sure about names, but I never change it. People recognize me on servers, which is helpful. If I run into the same friendlies again, they might remember me.
