Not all Private servers are like this. However yes private server admins can abuse powers if they wish.

so basically if you own a private server you can legit hack 24/7 nothing to be done. oh well no point playing on private servers now.

will this be same in standalone?

i know in the public servers they will be locked down so admin cant abuse there powers.

As it is and always will be with every game on this planet, yes, private servers have private admins that have absolute power over it. This is why they're private.

Never played a CS1.6 server where kidadmins where banning or teleporting or turning everyone into a chicken? Same with BF? Same with WoW, Lineage 2 or any MMORPG you can think of?

First thing you have to do when playing a private server is finding a serious one. I never joined a server (not even Public Hives) without a previous research. People tend to report abusive servers u'know.

Don't know. Not initially at least, hopefully never imo.

I think private hives were necessary in the mod however and if it wasn't for them I would have stopped playing around July-August last year when the hacking problem was at it's worst. Private hives offered admins a lot more control over their servers as well as new maps/mods but at the same time allowed for greater abuse. I always trusted the admins on the servers I played on not to abuse their power and avoided those that did so this didn't really concern me a great deal.

To be honest I think private hives saved the mod but nowadays have totally changed DayZ into something else, majority of servers have 500 extra vehicles, starting gear, donation rewards etc. So I think there are both pros and cons, but if they solve the hacking issues in the standalone then a lot of the reasons for them are no longer valid and they become unnecessary, it's not up to me though.

Server admins choice as it has always been. we just made it default it only changes the night time light nothing else. As you pointed out no one plays nights due to how dark it is. its a decision on our part to boost some of the night time play. Its not perfect but we have to think of why ppl are not playing at night.

Lets see how it plays out. The last time we reset zeds we had so many ppl complain about how hard it was to start after death. It might be a better idea to change this system to tie into the servers host settings ie difficultly. Then we have a choice.

It's not a good idea to change night time in such a way that it basically represents a darker day (I know exaggeration, sorry). What REALLY might boost players will to play at night if for example certain items will ONLY spawn during night, or if chances of finding items at night are increased.

In my eyes, a great idea to encourage playing at night would be if sniper rifles are only spawned during night. That means that the only chance to get a sniper rifle is to kill somebody and pick up his weapon (or to find a dead body with a rifle on), or to play at night.

Nah that wouldn't be fair and would cause alot of strange and immersion breaking things to happen. However if they could simply add in a featuer where your eyes adjust like in real life then it would be great.

This feature exists since Arma 2 exists. But if it is pitch black darkness out there, u wont see shit. This happens ingame and in RL.

One problem I see is you cannot run with your flashlight pointing front. Or the most important, your character cant use a flashlight and a gun at the same time, he must be retarded.

There are a few weapons where you can attach a flashlight to, I think the M4A3 is one. But I'd agree with your point, the problem is you can't run and lighten your way the same time using a flashlight. But this is possible with flares, if you carry them. However, since some doesn't seem to know how the flashlight works, they are probably not using the flares as well.

Regarding the bright nights, one major drawback is, that the night vision googles get almost useless. Some nights are way too bright for them.

difference is in dayz it isnt a instant respawn shoot the other guy it can takes days to get your gear back on fix find a heli and so on. if you arnt going to stop admins abusing this whats the point in even playing dayz?

login server admin has just given himself everything as soon as games released needs blood just drops in bakc pack shit dont stop.

infact why even ban hackers they just doing what admin can do but they get banned ! its comedy gold if this isnt sorted really is.

Dgeesio have you ever played in any private servers in any game really? And you can't avoid Arma being open but standalone might have some restrictions.

Oh what comes to the new changes, looks lovely especially the harder zombies and some rare badass guys that brings variety.

so you're complaining about admin taking the mick on private hives yet then say that you are one of these very admins. doesn't make sense man.

if you have admin on a server then you can actively not spawn stuff, not use admin map or server log for locations and just play the same as a standard user. problem solved. yes no doubt you have to check the server log for cheats and at this point you read things that a standard player wouldn't and shoudn't know. in this situation i try read it and forget it.

however if you share this admin and the other admins do take the mick then yes I can see where you're coming from.

personally i have sometimes looked at log and used it to avoid other players when logging on. my biggest "admin abuse" was that late one night i was looting for a main rotor and could only find car parts. i used log to find a regular's car in some woods and fixed it up a bit to get rid of the wheel and fuel tank

"fixed zombies" my ass. It's just the same old broken ass wallhacking, zig zagging, magic hitbox having shitty ass AI but now supercharged with double damage and returning to super sight/hearing that the community overwhelmingly rejected the first time they tried to pull it on us.

In Lineage 2 it takes you YEARS to get a full geared/leveled char and it may be gone just because the admin decided to ban you. So your point is?

I used to play L2 for 7 years, and even in official servers we had problems with some unfair banns (or at least what we considered unfair). But in private servers? Was much worse. Well, I was playing on a pretty serious one and still from time to time they decided to ban up to 1000 people all at once for massive abuse of a bug. And without any doubt I can tell you some of them -a small percentage- was innocent. The staff decided it wasn't worth the effort to analyze each case one by one and banned them all with an algorithm. When some folks complained in the forums about losing their years-old-characters the staff basically said "this is a private server, you pay nothing to play here, go fuck yourself" in nice words.

So yeah, private means private. Abuse is gonna be here ALWAYS because thats what private means. And if your playing on a persistent world game such as any MMORPG or Day Z is, you better do some research before entering a server precisely because you will lose your work of days if you dont know where you're stepping. There will be always kidservers and serious servers, look for the last ones.

and this has solved ? nothing. problem still there and not solved. i get everything related to it and all round it and underneath it. just saying dont play private servers or dont play a server you dont know admin or whatever other factor you want to respond with it doesnt matter because the simple fact is the problem wont and hasnt gone away by doing one of the things you suggest all you are doing is just dodging it or ignoring it.

private servers are dayz basically. best content best maps best everything.

so you basically ass raped over a barrel if you play dayz regular.

so like i said if the devs would like to have a look into locking some of this exploitation down im sure they could. most who dont want stuff locked down are admins. im all for custom content and stopping hackers but not at the expense of giving admins exactly the same if not more power than hackers to exploit. rant over get back on topic. i explained myself enough the problem isnt a easy one to deal with and will probably be left same way for admins who abuse to carry on in standalone.

In case you didint noticed this is a zombie game so zeds should be the main threat, as mather of fact zombies are a joke in their current state, i cannott remenber the last time i got killed by zeds not even in 1.7.5.1 wit their "super" sight and hearing like you say. If you thing zombies are hard you are seriously doing something wrong.

Yes im playing vanilla, so they aggro from far so what they are so easy to evade, whats the big deal?
