Guess you didn't read the second-to-last section.

Sorry, but I assumed that most of it was simply thinly-veiled direct insults.

I took a closer look, and I was pretty much correct.

So, what's in your "second-to-last" section that you feel is worth wading through your raging, that will contradict what is in your topic tags?

Oh i see, ONLY respawning matters in your arugment? You weren't using respawning as an example of one of the many things in dayz that are unrealistic, you're ONLY talking about respawning?

In that case, why is respawning such a big deal? Why can't a game be as realistic as possible while keeping respawning? Anyone can get all dramatic in a discussion like this and say if you don't get physically harmed during play it's not realistic. But, it's obvious to most why hurting or killing the player of a video game is a silly idea, just like removing respawning would be in a game like dayz. You can make the experience more realistic without making the consequences 100% realistic.

I am saying, that IF HE WANTS IT TO BE AS REALISTIC AS POSSIBLE, THERE SHOULD BE NO RESPAWNING. EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE REALISTIC.

It's nothing more than an obvious statement.

Don't you play on a BB server Apple? You know, the one that you agree to be on TS when you play on their server?

As far as fairness is concerned, we offer free use of our TS on our 2 top ranked DayZ servers. If people choose not to use it, then so be it.

If you refuse to use TS and you play with other people in a group, and you meet a group that is using it, you will be disavantaged to some extent.

DayZ being what it is however, I lonewolf alot and have overcome groups using it fairly easily with firepower and solid tactics. Having the jump on someone gives you a huge advantage.

So no, I do not believe that people using 3 party communication is cheating. You forcing yourself to not use it is your perogative, and I respect that, but don't try and force your opinion on me, for I do not share it.

No, I don't play on a BB server. I use to know 3 good servers that *said* no TS3, no 3P, and worked on an honor system. It was fun, and no one ever shot each other... or if anyone did, you'd meet pretty big search parties hunting down bandits, direct-chat only. Everything was fun, organized, and the conversations you could have while you're looting together were great.

Alright, I made the massive mistake of taking the time to read your first post.

Hi.

Hello.

TeamSpeak. Forum trading. Forum doctor requests. Forum requests for gear and/or a team to play with.

The most common and reliable ways to communicate with people in and out of the game. What of them?

Are these just parts of the game?

No, they're programs that have legitimate uses that don't include the game.

No, no they are not.

I just said that.

TeamSpeak

Regardless of whether it is TS, Skype, Steam Chat, or any other out-of-game system of communication, it is cheating. Think about it:

If everyone in a gaming competition had to use noise-cancelling headphones while they play a competitive match of A3, it'd be fair; EVERYONE would operate under those conditions.

This isn't competitive gaming; it's survival. Neither do you have to not use TS, Skype, etc.

But what if the asshole next to you wasn't wearing his headphones, and no one noticed but you? He'd be able to hear everything; you couldn't sneak up on him. You couldn't walk near him without being heard. To you, the world is all color and motion. But him? He can hear everything you do.

No, everything you broadcast. If you don't want him to hear you, you shouldn't be making noise.

Oh yeah, and he's on the other team.

Assuming that literally everyone is hostile, not only to you, but each other, there hardly is a "team".

Does that sound fair?

What, if you're running your mouth off over Direct chat to nobody and they hear you? Yes.

That is exactly the kind of advantage 3rd party programs provide, and it's terrible. If the game WANTED such a thing to exist, wouldn't it have radios/ways to communicate with each other? If the game WANTED you to be able to talk to each other across the map, why would the SA remove global/side chat?

Wrong. You're saying that 3rd part programs allow them to hear what you normally cannot hear. That is very untrue; whether they are using skype or not, they can't hear what you're not broadcasting yourself. If you are making noise ingame, they will hear it either way.

They removed Side chat due to people spamming over it with microphones, and there was literally no way to mute them or prevent them from just screaming, and everyone in the server could hear their screaming.

Forum Help Requests

So you're in the zombie apocalypse.

No, I'm in a video game simulation of one.

No internet, electricity, radio. You get into a gunfight with someone, and hole up in a building. You watch the only entrance with your brand-new DMR or LMG or whatever, waiting. You've got all the time in the world, and a huge, fair advantage: Tactics.

Would the other person not also have the ability to deploy his own "tactics"?

Then the other guy alt-tabs out.

And you walk outside and shoot him, if you're smart. If my opponent is standing still for longer than a minute, he's either gone or alt-tabbed.

Five minutes later, there's now 10 enemies he's recruited from the internet, and one of them has satchel charges/a LAW. The roof collapses on your head and you die.

Yes, because a random person would be able to post on the forums, and within the space of 5 minutes, get replies from 10 people who aren't just going to shoot him in the face for being a dumbass, and then wait for all 10 people to travel to him on the same server (Meaning none of their vehicles will be there), meet up with him and pray you keep sitting in the house instead of actually doing something.

Was that fair? Was that even FUN?

The real question is; was that even plausable?

Instead of the other player being challenged to defeat you in the test of skill in combat and strategy, he could leave the game for help.

What's that? When given two options, they picked the one that gave them a higher chance of surviving? You're joking!

And for that bullsh!t reason, you died. You could have alt-tabbed out, but no, YOU play fairly. YOU aren't a douchebag. YOU'D never do that. But him? Yeah. He's a douche.

Not even going to grace this part with a logical retaliation. Complimenting the person reading to give them an inflated ego, oldest trick in the book.

He had to go and use a 3rd party service to defeat you, and now you're dead for no reason more than he's a prick with internet access.

If you sit in one spot long enough for the above to happen, you're a dumbass with internet access, and that is why you died.

Does the GAME allow for internet access? NO, no it does not.

The very fact that you are connected to a server with players on it makes this statement look ridiculous.

Neither of you should have had that advantage; you were equal on the battlefield.

Neither of us should have the ability to minimize the game? I believe the ability to close a program is available on ALL computers.

Until he went and cheated...

Cheating, as poorly defined by you and very few other people.

Forum Help Request.

You get into a fight with a vicious, notorious bandit on your favorite server. You wind up dying, but you die happy knowing you broke his legs, and he's stranded in the middle of nowhere; he'll die, too, eventually. It's a good day; you gave your life for a good cause: Justice.

Get over yourself. You managed to would someone over a video game, who is filling in the role that makes the game enjoyable for you, and all you care about is causing him grief. Unless you'd rather we all held hands and skipped merrily into the sunset, stop speaking of bandits as a problem. What happens after you die literally means nothing. Realistically, you would not be around to witness whether he bleeds out, finds medical supplies, or happens across a medic. Nor is there any rewards for the former; you are dead in the middle of nowhere. You will not be able to get back there and loot him. As far as you are concerned, he is gone. For good. He has yet to exist for you. That's what the "Hard-core RP gamers" you keep calling yourself would call the "New life rule". When you die and are respawned, you are literally a new person. You can keep your identity and personality as those are unique to you, but you can't have any recollection of who killed you, where you died, how you died or why. Stop complaining about people who aren't playing it "uber 1337 realism" mode when you don't even respect the NLR.

Then he alt-tabs out and says, "Some bandit shot me in the legs. plz help kthxbye" on some forum.

Pretty soon a gullible doctor arrives and fixes him up, then is likely shot by the bandit.

Medic's problem, not yours. They do their job fully aware of what could happen.

That pricks cheating means many things.

Again, poorly defined by your own personal opinion.

1: You died for nothing. Go cry about it.

You ALWAYS die for nothing. It's not like if you had killed him, Matt Lightfoot would arrive at your front door pantsless, to congratulate you on your valiant efforts at killing someone over a video game and award you with a free pizza.

2: You got an innocent doctor killed.

The doctor gets himself killed for being a doctor. You didn't make him answer the post, nor did you make him incapable of surviving a firefight.

3: His cheating means the game has no challenge.

Yet again, "Cheating", your own opinion. And like I said, whether he died or not has no impact on how difficult your fight was. In the end, you died, he didn't. End of, game over, you lost. Nothing that happened afterwards could possibly have an impact on the fight.

Skill has no merit. He was saved because he had the ability to leave, beg for help, and receive it. But did YOU go to the forums and say, "Some bandit shot me, can I have gear? Kthxbye" ? No. You restarted the game like a good, honest player, and made your way into Elektrovodsk.

Bro, you're beginning to sound muffled from how far you're shoving your head up our collective ass trying to kiss up.

What is fair about any of that?

Everything; had the situation been reversed, you had the chance to do the exact same thing. Everyone accepts that when they play this game, everyone can do this. What is NOT fair is saying "I have decided that I do not want the help of others, therefore you must do the same or else you are a horrible person for not playing the same way as me on a video game", which is exactly what you are doing.

Nothing.

Read the above.

He broke the 4th wall.

No, he simply used the door that is left unlocked for anyone to use.

Called in essentially an act of god to save the day.

The day was already "Saved". HE HAD KILLED YOU. The thread was gone. He was in "The middle of nowhere", meaning there were no zombies. He would eventually had crawled his way to a town, and found medical supplies. At least, that's an entirely plausible reality you have no choice but to accept because I can't stress this enough, YOU ARE NO LONGER OF THIS WORLD. NOTHING THAT HAPPENS TO HIM IMPACTS YOU ANY LONGER. Saying you want him to suffer longer only shows you take the game waaay too seriously and have actually developed a illogical hatred towards a valid playstyle.

Got healed.

Well done; that is the job of a doctor.

Killed an innocent player.

HE'S A FUCKING BANDIT. He has probably killed hundreds of innocent players.

And was able to do this via the forums he uses to connect with DayZ players. It doesn't have to be this one, although it's likely that's exactly which one was used.

Like I said before, it's entirely plausible that he could find medical supplies himself, and then carried on killing anyway. So why spite him quicker access to this? It doesn't matter if he lives or dies or why:

You.

are.

Dead.

Requesting forum help, again.

You and another player spawn in at the same exact time, right next to each other. You both run into the city to get gear together. After half an hour, you meet to see who is better at gear collecting.

You: Winchester 1866, M1911, some food.

Him: AS50, ghillie suit, M9SD, a helicopter.

A helicopter isn't gear, but okay.

You spent 30 minutes fighting zombies and fighting for your life.

He spent 30 minutes going on some forums and saying, "Just died can I have some gear? kthxbye"

In other words, he missed out on the survival (AKA The fun) part of the game. You did not. What difference would it make if instead, another player with that gear had died somehow, or even if another player had killed him, and now you are comparing gear with someone else? These are nameless people with zero impact on you. Plus, if someone manages to convince a random forum to give him all that gear, then he bloody deserves it.

This 3rd-party assistance bullcrap unbalanced the game terribly, in his favor. What is to stop him, now, from just 1-shotting you and running off?

What's to stop you 1-shotting him? If you're close enough to compare gear, you're close enough to cap him in the face and take the stuff yourself.

Nothing, with the power of the forums. But let's say your puny Winchester does beat his AS50. Then what?

...You loot and run?

The A*shole that gave him all his gear shoots you, or even if you beat him, more people are recruited from the forum to come and hunt you down.

You are delusional if you think that any random fucker can go to a forum and summon an army over a random death.

Your options are stay and die, or logout like a wuss.

Or you could stop inventing implausible situations and fucking play the game. Even if he somehow got someone to hunt you down; what difference is there in dying to someone who was told to kill you, as opposed to dying to someone who just wants your stuff? Nothing; because as I mentioned before, you are dead. It doesn't matter how it happens, you're dead. Nothing else in DayZ matters after that.

20+ helicopters, 200 cars, free M9SD, no nighttime!

I sh!t you not; I read that very advertisement not more than two days ago and puked in my mouth.

Then you need to stop playing. I shit you not, if words on a computer screen for a video game invoke so much rage in you that you literally vomit, you have a serious problem way bigger than losing your pixels to a squad on DayZ

So helicopters are everywhere.

Cars are everywhere x2.

You get a free suppressed gun.

There's never a night cycle.

I challenge you to find one challenge in that server.

I challenge you to use your head and not join those servers.

Private hives are a flawed, failed idea.

Except the majority of players play on them, custom and vanilla alike, proving they are far from failed at all.

They should be disbarred as soon as this scripting is under wraps; the only private servers the SA should have are LAN parties.

Again, what difference does it makes to you? If you don't join them, those servers practically do not exist.

If you're that desperate to be with your friends, likely using TS like a douche (read above),

Yet again, poor use of the word "cheating" to justify flaming people you don't agree with (Read above)

you can just join a low-population/empty server; there will be plenty soon enough.

I can be with my friends in a server with any population; as long as there are enough slots, I don't see what's stopping me.

=====================

But this isn't a closed book.

I wouldn't call a wall of ragetext a "book".

=====================

I want to know, from the point of view of the very people I despise in DayZ,

Bear that in mind before you start calling people immature; you literally are harboring a hatred towards people over their preferred method of playing a video game.

what legitimized and validates the use of 3rd party interaction for an unfair advantage?

The fact that it isn't unfair.

What makes it okay for you?

See above.

How do you get out of bed, knowing you're a cheater, wasting thousand's of honest peoples' collective payments of $20 for A2CO?

Honestly the saddest statement I've read on these forums. For a start, more misuse of the word "cheater".

Secondly, even if by some warped logic it was cheating, I don't plan to lose any sleep because I played cheap in a video game. If you do, please refer to the part of my reply where I mentioned not playing any video games ever.

Finally, you are certainly playing the game wrong if you consider ARMA II wasted because people aren't playing the way you like on a mod of the game. Someone give the baby his bottle.

DayZ is a game about survival,

Then stop going on about competitive play.

going from 1 bandage to riches while dealing with pain, loss, hardship, and ultimately, death.

I'd like to bring your attention to that last part; "Death". No matter how it happens, it's gonna happen. Stop dwelling on how it happened. DayZ is a game about difficulty, realism. DayZ was not made for children, or the weak of heart.

No shit, it's a mil-sim mod about reanimated corpses, I don't think I'll be letting a 2-year old play it.

DayZ is supposed to be a tense, action-packed surreal experience that teaches you social dynamics, and asks you the most important question of all: Do you have what it takes to survive?

Clearly, if you spend your time hurling insults at people because they're not surviving quite to your liking, you do not have what it takes to survive.

The answer, boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, scoundrels and cutthroats, the honest and the dishonest, the fair and unfair, is no.

I just said that.

No.

I JUST SAID THAT.

Humanity does not have what it takes.

Uh oh, he's going overboard again; someone remind him it's a video game.

Humanity is a wee baby, sucking the teat of the internet because it is comprised of lazy jerks who can't be bothered to set aside the luxuries of 3rd party programs and just survive. Just be a part of DayZ.

Too late. He's in coocooland again.

If a zombie broke your door down right now, what would you do?

Wake up, as that is literally impossible.

Would you turn your laptop on and pray for help,

No, because I would be whisked away to a mental asylum.

or would you grab the nearest object and defend yourself?

No, I would not fight the imaginary zombie in my room.

You can't get help from 3rd party programs in real life.

Because 3rd party programs don't exist in real life. Know what else doesn't exist? ZOMBIES. If you wreck your car, can you hit CNTRL + Z and undo it? If you are dead, can you ask God or Allah or Buddha, or Hinto, or whatever to just *poof* revive you?

Are you saying that if you were to wreck your car, or die, and had the ability to undo that, you wouldn't?

No.

Then you are stupid.

No you cannot.

Not in real life, no. In a video game, oh yes I can.

You are a child.

No, I am an adult.

A small child in a large world.

You mean an adult in a virtual world.

A world full of evil, scary things.

A virtual world full of pixellated, ultimately meaningless things.

You aren't ready to face that world until you turn off TS, Skype, Steam Chat, change to direct channel, and stop using any other means of cross-map communications.

The fact that I am out enjoying the game and you are too busy raging on the forums would show you aren't ready.

You aren't ready to face that world until you learn to find gear on your own.

See the above.

You aren't ready to face that world until you can meet and greet players for real, rather than through online requests.

All interaction through DayZ is "Online". Unless you are saying that I'm not ready for DayZ until I personally meet everybody I'm ever going to see ingame in the flesh first.

Walk into Elektrovodsk. Make a friend. Ask him if he'd like to trade gear. THAT IS HOW YOU PLAY DAYZ.

Walk into Electrovodsk. Find a random. Get shot in the face because I waltz towards him flashing my shiny gear in his face. THAT IS WHAT REALLY HAPPENS IN DAYZ.

Thoughts?

I think this post was a massive waste of my time.

Comments?

I cannot believe I spent my time replying to this.

Questions?

How do you fathom up such illogical trash?

Concerns?

I am concerned for your mental health, per your projectile vomiting due to a video game setting.

Rebuttals?

See literally everything above.

I am genuinely interested in why people ruin the competitiveness and fun of the game.

I am genuinely interested in how people can continue to take you seriously after this.

Can you even think of an excuse? I doubt it.

Rage does not use excuses, he uses reasons.

NO MORE TEAMSPEAK!

No more retarded threads, please.

NO MORE GLOBAL FORUM DOCTORS!

Seriously. Please. No more retarded threads.

Also, This made me lol so hard:

It was fun, and no one ever shot each other... or if anyone did, you'd meet pretty big search parties hunting down bandits, direct-chat only.

The A*shole that gave him all his gear shoots you, or even if you beat him, more people are recruited from the forum to come and hunt you down

Delicious Hypocrisy.

It's nothing more than an obvious statement.

Okay, I understand. What confused me, the OP never really stated that he wanted DayZ to be as realistic as possible. The only mention of realism in the first post was in this paragraph...

I just don't see where you're getting the idea that him wanting to remove 3rd party actions from the game means he wants DayZ to be as realistic as possible. He might, but that's not what is being discussed in this thread.

Obviously you play this game alone. It would be impossible to arrange group sessions without 3rd party communication. How am I supposed to meet friends in game without some form of 3rd party communication? Am I just supposed to log when I have free time, hope my friends are In game and on the same server, and then search every square inch of the map hoping to find them? Nobody could ever play together that way. Also where are you getting the idea that 3rd party chat is against the spirit of the game? Am I missing something? Has rocket stated his opinion one way or another?

Even though you're a brony, I do somewhat agree with you. I wish people didn't use Teamspeak or Skype or the forums to get a medic to heal them or anything like that, but there isn't any way to stop that, and the majority of players wouldn't like that so it isn't fair to remove it.

Wow. Some people are taking this game a little TOOOOO seriously (OP?).

Oh, and BTW. I think it's unfair when someone has a computer that lets them set all graphics to maximum. It gives them an unfair advantage over me, so they should get a computer with the same specs as mine.

in my humble opinion, the amount of idiocy in the original post makes any sensible discussion pointless. i try anyway.

If i understand the OP correctly, then having a spouse should be against TOS, because a player who is in a relationship can have her bring you coffee and sandwich while you play, which gives you a terrible advantage, QQ.

also, having different input devices creates terrible inbalance in the game, so the TOS should explicitely state what kind of mouse and keyboard you are allowed to use. Surely someone using a razer nostromo is a cheating noob with an immense tactical advantage, as opposed to our 1337 bronie who plays the game with keyboard only. If the game client logs a different device ID connected to the computer, the game key should be globally banned. Right?

following this logic, it should also be against the TOS to use different seats, as someone who can relax in a leather seat with integrated massage feature defies the harsh survival aspect of the game, and basically cheats. only russian-made hardwood kitchen chairs should be allowed, those should be a mandatory purchase from the game publisher, and fitted with RFID and IR tags so the game client can validate the proper use of competitive seating equipment via RFID scanner and Webcam. Not using one of those should also be a bannable offense.

am i getting it right?

People that are mature enough to handle zombie survival as a survival experience, not a social fest. If I wanted to take the "Kick back, drink a beer with a friend" approach to gaming, I wouldn't choose the kill-or-be-killed-by-cheating-pricks world of DayZ. I'd play normal ArmA 2, where TS actually makes sense because the military uses radios.

If you want a "survival experience", go do a bush craft course, get lost in the woods, drink your own pee to keep from dehydrating and kill an animal with a sharped stick. Who knows you might get a show on Discovery :P.

Time for the seriousness. I, like many others on this forum play DayZ because it is social. Being a multi-player mod it would be impossible for it to not be social.

Its a chance for me to unwind after a day at work, and have fun with friends located in the Uk, Sweden, Germany, Australia and NZ (Many of whom I only know via DayZ because I screamed friendly into direct chat and they did not shoot me).

Its cool that you get so into the game and feel so strongly about it, but I really don't think it's at all helpful or mature to insult other players because they don't play the way YOU do, or the way YOU want them to.

Relax, be clam and accept that you can't change they way others choose to play. Enjoy the fact that DayZ is an awesome mod that can make you piss yourself laughing one moment and shit your pants when a round flies over your head the next.

Maybe it's because I have played so much SS13 lately, but once you take away any form of metagaming (by moderating the server and watching out for obvious meta stuff) the game (even though it's a fugly, pixelated game) became so much more immersive. Being careful with what you say because somebody *might* listen in on your radio channel, or being able to listen in on other people's plans, just adds so much to the game

Anyway, I'm pretty sure there will be hardcore / RP communities, with custom tools watching for any 3rd party voip program for the SA

And since this is pretty relevant: Rocket stated that the WANTS more eve-like metagamy elements for the SA, so yeah.
