Is it worth picking DayZ up before standalone?

HI you guys/girls in the DayZ community, my question is Is it worth to pick up this mod for arma2 before the standalone is relesed ? Because atm I'm playing WarZ -.- But that game is just pure PvP, and lack of good gameplay '' i mean etc adding VoIP into the game would had helped it LOADS.. but *** that. gotta blame frankie ''frankieonpc1080p on utube'' for doing so *** good clips making me wanna change to this game instead :D

Or he might appreciate it more. Standalone will most def be better then the mod. Mod have become 90 focused on PvP, wasn't always like that. Standalone will be more centered around surviving as it should be.

Wow quick responds here ^^ yeah idk really, ive been checking the dayz dev blog about the SA for awhile, im looking forward to it imo. Tbh the pvp isnt really a big concern if u ask me, it just feel like this game have so much more to offer atm, and etc the things u do on a server stays on it, instead of disapper after 15 min as in war z. + Dayz is more realistic ''atleast what ive seen in gameplays'' than War Z

DayZ is the real deal. Everyone who played WarZ should have played DayZ first to fully understand what kind of bullshit WarZ was/is.

Indeed. If you buy it and you are disappointed in DayZ, you still have an awesome game. I bought arma just for dayz but still played arma first just to get a grip at the controls and how everything worked. I played 16 hours of arma without stopping

Arma is a great game in it self, so if you're interested in ridiculously large-scale multiplayer warfare, get the game.

Also, i hate to burst your bubble, but there's almost 100% concrete proof that frankie is, or was, a hacker.

Get both, cos Dayzmod is gonna go in many different directions like it is at the moment cos players are making it now.

Standalone is 1 direction (not the crap band btw lol)

Even though most people will shoot you on sight there is still far more things to do in DayZ than in WarZ. The map is much larger and you can spend time fixing up vehicles or setting up a base camp, plus with VOIP you will have a better chance of a friendly encounter. Just try not to yell I am friendly while standing still in the open, it is just an invitation to kill you. Get to cover then start talking to the person.

Since standalone is still fairly far off in the horizon I would pick up Arma 2 OA whenever it goes on sale next and have some fun in the mod. There is a ton of maps and Arma 2 is a good game as well. Just be prepared for some awkward (at first) controls and some bugs, it is the Arma way.

Maybe not worth getting the mod right now - you decide that, some people don't have an extra 20 bucks to spare, while others are rolling in dough. I say it's still worth getting ArmA 2.

I believe it all depends if money no problem. If you pick it up now you can get practice and get a feel for the game, also you might enjoy normal arma also.

If you don't like it, then you don't have to buy the more complicated standalone.

In the beging i wanted to buy DayZ first, but a friend said WarZ was gonna be soooo much better, but yeah we all who bought it got disappointed after some weeks. and now there is like 3-4 peps playing it out of a IRL clan of 15 peps.

If you can afford it buy arma 2 for dayz until the standalone which you will see has no release date announced yet.

Personally I got my money's worth after a couple of hours so any everything else is a bonus for me.

the game only cost 19.99£ '' arma2 + DLC '' quite cheap imo so id might buy it and try dayz out or atleast play arma ^^

I'm very happy to have played both.

I'm intentionally avoiding Minecraft so I can focus on DayZ. For one thing, the models are better. Still, it was a big mistake not allowing girls to wear camo/etc. If I'm going to watch someone's backside for hours, female is better. Tomb Raider understood this well.

Buy it. Hours and hours of fun and exploration with just the DayZ maps and mods, much more even with the ArmA mods. After the shock of actually learning how to play DayZ wore off, try Namlask, brings back the suspense in spades !

Just DO IT. You will not regret it.

if you want to buy Arma2 just for Dayz mod - you will not be happy because Dayz mod is not same Dayz what was in its first days.

if you want to buy Arma2 and play also Dayz mod you will not regret. Because Arma2 comes with huge amount of other good stuff (Wasteland, Domination, Takistani life ....) and they all are free of charge. And if you dont like them you can easy create what ever you want in Arma2 built in editor (you should not be guru programmer).
